Ignoring the gazes of everyone around him, Chen Rui approached the leadership seat and solemnly said to Peng Hao, "Quickly find everyone and gather them here."
Peng Hao, amidst the noise, retorted, "Can't you call them yourself?" However, his execution was unquestionable. Within five minutes, with Peng Hao relaying the message, everyone who had been out of the office quickly returned.
After counting heads, Peng Hao nodded to Chen Rui once everyone was present.
Clearing his throat, Chen Rui opened his mouth to speak when Peng Hao suddenly pointed at Li Xue and asked, "Is it okay for her to be here?"
The recently returned staff members began to inquire among themselves about what had just happened, causing the scene to descend into chaos.
"It's fine; she's one of mine," Chen Rui said amidst the confusion. Although his voice was low, it immediately quieted the room.
"Oh, I see," Peng Hao replied with a smile and a nod.
Moments later, the chaos erupted again, louder than before.
Chen Rui frowned slightly and pulled out a weapon case from under his desk. He retrieved an Automatic Rifle and skillfully loaded a fully packed magazine, aiming it at the ceiling.
Seeing Chen Rui's actions, Peng Hao hurriedly covered his ears. The office was constructed with special materials that not only provided safety but also reflected sound. Moreover, the office door was still closed.
"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!" The Automatic Rifle fired high above. Chen Rui used the rapid-fire mode, emptying the entire magazine in just three or four seconds. The loud and dense gunfire echoed throughout the office, causing everyone to instinctively cover their ears.
"Now we can start the meeting," Chen Rui said as he removed the spent magazine from his rifle and surveyed everyone from above.
The crowd straightened up and stopped their chatter, ready to follow orders.
"What does hanging up that phone mean?" Chen Rui asked Li Xue.
"Are you really that direct?" Li Xue shot him a glare. His question made her uncomfortable; if he had cleverly hidden it within some other words, she could have feigned ignorance and told him otherwise. But now...
"We're both smart people; let's not waste time with indirectness," Chen Rui stated plainly. It was better to be straightforward than to beat around the bush.
"Honestly, I’m impressed. Even if I didn’t tell you, you would have guessed most of it, right?" Li Xue said, pouting. "Hanging up that phone means they’ve already been discovered. There’s no specific level of detail; I just need to convey this message, and the rest will be handled by them."
"Yeah, so we actually don’t know anything right now," Chen Rui nodded. "But they received incorrect information, and that information is the turning point between being proactive and reactive."
"Peng Hao!" Chen Rui began to call names.
"Immediately formulate a battle plan. We need at least two viable options, and each plan must include an emergency backup!"
"Leave it to me," Peng Hao replied with a smile.
The reason Peng Hao could become the acting leader of the Execution Team was that he was the only tactical master within the team. The personnel in the Execution Team were quite diverse, coming from various professions, aimed at adapting to different types of players. When facing different players, it was best to have someone who understood their habits and general thoughts.
Peng Hao's role was to predict overall trends and provide emergency command, functioning somewhat like a staff department in the military.
"Recall Liu Xin and Zhan Min's teams. I believe their objectives are not related to these two matters," Chen Rui decisively ordered the withdrawal of the previously dispatched missions.
Li Xue casually played with her phone, occasionally glancing at Chen Rui, not taking his words seriously at all.
"Then we’ll move once Liu Xin and Zhan Min return," Peng Hao suddenly spoke up.
Chen Rui didn’t ask why; he simply nodded. "What else do we need to do?"
"From now on, everyone needs to hand over their phones. If you want to use one, you’ll have to buy your own. These phones will stay here," Peng Hao issued the command. The group exchanged glances, and no one stepped forward to hand over their phones.
Chen Rui couldn’t help but chuckle lightly. "You don’t really need internet access here; why are you so attached to your phones?"
To set an example, Chen Rui walked over to Li Xue and extended his hand.
Li Xue glanced at Chen Rui, gripping her phone tighter, and smirked, "Not giving it!"
Her action drew a burst of laughter, but as Chen Rui scanned the room, the laughter quickly turned into coughs, making the office feel like it was struck by an infectious disease.
Peng Hao chuckled as he approached Li Xue. "Could you please hand your phone to me? He will reimburse you later." He pointed at Chen Rui.
"Sure, then I’ll trouble you with that," Li Xue said, placing her phone in Peng Hao's hand and smiling at Chen Rui.
"Hey! Whoever said it should take care of it!" Chen Rui protested.
Amidst the laughter, everyone tossed their phones into Peng Hao's bag, nearly every person echoing Chen Rui's earlier line, "Could you help me buy a phone?"
Although money was the least important thing in their dream world, having Chen Rui remember so many brands and types of phones and procure them all was no easy task.
After confirming that all phones were on standby, Peng Hao locked them in a safe and turned to Chen Rui. "Now we can look for a place that's convenient for transportation, preferably somewhere with high foot traffic. We need to rent a room and set up an observation post at a high point. It must be completed within three hours, and everyone should arrive by five. No need to move any equipment; just go fully armed."
"That's quite challenging. If it's a place with heavy traffic, convenience is unlikely. Plus, finding somewhere nearby with a high point is really tough. Going fully armed would definitely attract attention, so your proposal isn't very practical right now," Chen Rui countered Peng Hao's plan.
"I know a place that meets all those requirements," Li Xue said with a wry smile, shaking her head. "You guys are such fools; I can't help but want to assist you."
"You do?" Peng Hao rubbed his temples and thought for a moment. "That could work."
"What could work? Speak clearly!" Chen Rui shot Peng Hao an annoyed look.
"Foolish!" Li Xue lightly slapped Chen Rui on the forehead. It seemed quick, but neither of them felt much from it. "This is where it is; don't you have control over this building? You could just fake your departure! How could you be so dense? The conditions here are so good that I almost feel bad for not reminding you."
Chen Rui suddenly realized she was right. This place indeed met all of Peng Hao's requirements. The building had fifty-five floors and was among the taller structures nearby. It had heavy foot traffic, but due to their control over it, they could respond quickly in this area.
"He really doesn't want to be running around in various electronic product malls just because of these guys!"
"No, the phones should stay here, kept charged and on standby. That way, they'll be more convinced that we've already left," Peng Hao said firmly, a slight smile playing at the corners of his mouth, though he couldn't help but wonder if there was a personal motive behind his words.
"Ah," Chen Rui sighed with a bitter smile. "Now, Zeng Zhi, Zheng Hui... you all take a government vehicle each and park it in a blind spot. Find your own way back without exposing our whereabouts. Try to avoid monitored areas; we can't rule out the possibility of high-level hackers among their ranks."
In truth, Chen Rui was also speculating. Who knows if this group of wealthy yet idle individuals might have an interest in I? If they did, it was indeed possible they could turn into advanced hackers.
The few people named quickly made their way to the underground parking lot after receiving the orders. As they left the office, they happened to run into Liu Xin and the Zhan Min Group returning.
After exchanging nods, Liu Xin, Zhan Min, and the other six entered the office. Zhan Min looked at everyone gathered and couldn't help but joke, "Oh dear, are you holding a celebration feast?"
"I remember that the targets you two are responsible for are quite far from here, right?" Chen Rui raised an eyebrow. Liu Xin's target, Chiba Kaede, wasn't too far away; he could easily guess where they would be—either in New York, New York or at Caesars Palace; if not there, then definitely at the Venetian—certainly in some casino hotel.
As for Zhan Min's target, it should have been located twenty-seven kilometers away at an FBI surveillance site. This meant that these two couldn't possibly arrive at the office simultaneously after receiving their orders.
"Don't mind those details; just get to the point," Liu Xin said, awkwardly changing the subject.
Chen Rui didn't want to pursue where they had been indulging themselves in drinks or pleasures and said, "Turn off the radios and bring me your phones!"
The eight people's reactions mirrored those of everyone else earlier—hesitant and unwilling.
Seeing this scene, Peng Hao laughed. "You called them over; what brand do you want? Chairman Chen will buy it for you."
Liu Xin quickly tossed his phone to Peng Hao and stepped up to Chen Rui. "I don't want a phone anymore; just give me cash instead. I'm out of cash..."
After placing the phone, everyone moved from the newly arranged office on the tenth floor to the eleventh. Chen Rui instructed the Lu Jie Group to take turns monitoring the surroundings from their positions on Stage Twenty-Four.
The building was an office tower, and due to various reasons, the FBI had purchased several floors, renovating them into ordinary office spaces.
This arrangement was convenient for Chen Rui; a group of people dressed in suits sitting in a well-decorated office wouldn’t attract too much attention.
Everyone settled at their desks. Since Chen Rui hadn’t issued any specific orders, many of them simply turned on their computers and began engaging in some entertainment activities.
Peng Hao leaned over to Chen Rui with a mischievous grin. “Do you know why I wanted to create the illusion that we’re no longer around?”
“Not quite like that,” Chen Rui replied with a smile. “The main goal is to make them think we’ve already left and are lurking in the shadows, causing them to panic on their own.”
“That’s pretty much it. I didn’t expect you to think of that,” Peng Hao chuckled, giving Chen Rui a friendly pat on the shoulder.
“Get lost! Don’t bother me if there’s nothing going on,” Chen Rui said, shooing Peng Hao away as he leaned back in his chair and stretched.
Just as Chen Rui thought it would be perfect to have a cup of tea, a freshly brewed cup of black tea was placed on his desk.
Familiar with the cup, Chen Rui took a sip and smiled. “Hmm, this tea is well-brewed; you’ve improved! How did you…”
Just as Chen Rui pondered why Liang Yu had entered his dream, Li Xue’s smiling face appeared before him.
