Chen Rui quickly pressed the button for the first floor, and the elevator began its descent, leaving no time for anyone to react. 0

"Are you crazy? Do you have any idea how many Zombies are at the airport? And what are we even going to do there? The planes left long ago when the outbreak started." 0

Qin Xin shouted, her voice echoing in the confined space. Even the Zombies outside couldn't keep up with their pace, so there was no need to be quiet, especially since no government personnel were present to refer to them as Infected Persons. 0

"It can't be that we're just going to our deaths. You must have learned something while we were at the boarding gate, and you were still in the control room then!" 0

Li Li calmly analyzed the situation, smiling at Chen Rui. "But this journey is bound to be incredibly dangerous." 0

"Isn't that a good thing? Now you don’t have to worry about anything," Chen Rui said, glancing at the six people in front of him with a grin. 0

This statement surprised everyone else. Indeed, since this dream began, they hadn’t really played recklessly. Initially, it was all about defending against Chen Rui, and after the plot changed, they had been stuck with so-called mission personnel. Throughout this time, they had merely played the role of ordinary subordinates. Except for Li Xue, none of them had truly enjoyed themselves. 0

"Spending millions and not having fun—what's the point?" Chen Rui's words struck like an arrow into their hearts. 0

Just as he finished speaking, the elevator approached the First Floor. 0

Chen Rui continued to smile. "Since I’m playing the role of a strategist or commander, let me take charge of how we proceed." 0

The group didn’t respond; they neither agreed nor outright rejected him. Not a single person spoke. 0

Chen Rui nodded with a smile before shifting his demeanor, his face becoming serious. "Prepare for an assault!" 0

"Ding!" 0

As the elevator doors slowly opened, the sound attracted the attention of several nearby Zombies, who began to shuffle toward them. 0

Chen Rui tightened his grip on the rifle and quickly made his way toward the back door of the hotel. 0

"Keep an eye on the six o'clock direction. We can shoot freely if they come within ten meters," he instructed swiftly. 0

Li Xue didn't hesitate at all and immediately followed Chen Rui outside at a brisk pace. 0

Seeing his sister's awkward movements, Li Li let out a wry smile and hurried to catch up with Chen Rui. The other four exchanged glances before quickly following suit. 0

The seven of them moved stealthily, crouching low as they advanced toward the back door, resembling a special forces team infiltrating enemy headquarters. 0

Perhaps due to the explosion from the earlier V44 crash, there weren't many zombies on the first floor of the hotel. They all tacitly refrained from firing their weapons, opting instead to navigate around the zombies. 0

"Why aren't they attacking us?" Zhou Zhisheng asked. 0

Zhou Yan slapped Zhou Zhi on the head and chuckled, "Dumbass, they’re not attacking because there’s no intense external stimulus. In simpler terms, we’re making too little noise for them to notice us." 0

Indeed, their stealthy movements were no slower than a jog, but they made very little sound. Coupled with the thick smoke in the air and the occasional crash of falling shelves, the zombies hardly noticed a group of potential prey slipping right past them. 0

"What’s on fire?" Chen Rui asked, his furrowed brow revealing his unease. 0

"What does it matter? Isn’t it just covering our escape from the hotel?" Li Xue questioned in confusion. 0

"If we assume that these zombies are like those in a movie, then this thick smoke will attract many nearby zombies that have no targets, making it easier for us—at least for now," Chen Rui explained, quickening his pace. "Move faster!" 0

Upon hearing Chen Rui's explanation, everyone instinctively increased their speed. 0

Outside the interior of the Stone Sword Hotel, the back door opened onto a circular road surrounding a fountain, designed for the convenience of dropping off and picking up guests, allowing them to reach the hotel or get into a vehicle as quickly as possible. 0

At that moment, there wasn't a single Zombie in sight, but the dull growls coming from their right indicated that they were not safe. 0

"Look at that smoke; that's probably where the plane crashed," Wang Xinzhuo pointed towards the direction of the growling. The thick smoke rising not far away suggested something had happened there not long ago. 0

"Let's move," Chen Rui urged, running towards the parking lot ahead. 0

When they reached the parking lot, only a few Zombies were scattered about. Most had likely been drawn away by those who had fled in vehicles earlier. Moreover, since this area was not far from where the plane had crashed, it made sense that there were so few Zombies here. 0

"We don't have the car keys; how do we leave?" Zhou Yan exclaimed, sweating profusely as she noticed several Zombies ahead clearly taking notice of them and shambling closer with their decaying bodies. 0

"No need for keys," Chen Rui replied calmly. "Quickly look for an open car. Could someone please deal with those Zombies? No firearms allowed." 0

"I'll do it," Zhou Yan said, cracking her knuckles as she eyed the approaching Zombies. She slung her rifle behind her and pulled out a tactical knife from her waist, looking eager to engage. 0

The others immediately scattered to search for the open vehicles Chen Rui mentioned. 0

There were quite a few cars in the parking lot—at least two-thirds of the usual number remained parked here. However, most were just ordinary vehicles, and truly open ones were indeed scarce. 0

As Chen Rui searched in front of a row of cars for an open one, he suddenly felt someone press down on his shoulder. He quickly turned around and instinctively threw an elbow back. 0

But he halted abruptly when a gust of wind brushed past Li Xue's cheek from his swift movement, causing her long hair to sway gently. 0

Li Xue was startled by Chen Rui's sudden action. Even though there was no actual impact, witnessing such a motion filled her with psychological fear that left her shaken. 0

"What's wrong?" Chen Rui sighed in relief, glad it wasn't a Zombie and also thankful he had stopped himself in time. 0

"I found a car, and it even comes with a key," Li Xue said with a sigh, then smiled. 0

"Great! Where is it? Take me there." 0

Li Xue had found a three-row, seven-seat Buick Business Van. The driver's side door was open, but the interior was empty. 0

"Um, are you going to drive?" Chen Rui asked with a smile. 0

"Of course, it's my car," Li Xue said, gripping the car key tightly, giving off the vibe of a mischievous girl. 0

"Then get ready. I'll go call the others. We need to leave as soon as they get on," Chen Rui said before immediately sprinting off, completely ignoring the noise his military boots made against the ground that could attract a horde of Zombies. 0

The first person Chen Rui spotted was Zhou Yan, who was on guard duty. She was crouched next to a corpse, examining it closely. 0

Chen Rui couldn't help but feel amused and exasperated by the scene. He prepared to tap her shoulder but suddenly remembered how Li Xue had almost attacked him when she tapped him. So instead, he stood at a distance and called out softly, "Sister Zhou?" 0

Zhou Yan stood up and pointed at Chen Rui's nose, scolding him, "Who are you calling?" 0

"Sister Zhou?" 0

"Get lost! If you have something to say, say it quickly!" 0

"Hurry and get in that Buick; Xue is waiting over there," Chen Rui said, pointing to the Buick that Li Xue was driving. 0

Zhou Yan smiled at Chen Rui. "Oh my, this is what we call a snow day. I see you all are making good progress; no wonder you're seasoned pros in the flower patch, hahaha." 0

Chen Rui chuckled lightly and ran towards Li Li. 0

"What are you going to do?" Zhou Yan asked from behind. 0

"Calling for help..." 0

"You," Zhou Yan questioned in confusion, "why not use the walkie-talkie?" 0

"Is it still funny? I can't even see where the joke is," Chen Rui sighed. Sitting in the passenger seat, he couldn't move too much because he was buckled in. As for why he was wearing a seatbelt, just look at who was driving; not wearing one would be insane. 0

"If this happened to someone else, it would just be silly, but..." Zhou Zhi was already holding his stomach, laughing so hard he could barely breathe. 0

"I'm not a god; how could I possibly not make mistakes?" Chen Rui sighed. Ever since they got in the car, the laughter from this group hadn't stopped. 0

"Yes, yes, I've figured it out too..." Qin Xin tried to steady his heartbeat with deep breaths; the recent outburst of laughter had sent his heart racing. 0

"Alright, alright." Li Li smiled lightly. "It's lucky that we found the keys right away; otherwise, we would have had to wait a while longer." 0

"It's not luck; the odds are pretty high," Chen Rui shook his head. 0

"Why's that?" Wang Xinzhuo asked, as Chen Rui was still quite reliable on certain matters. 0

"Generally speaking, car doors don't just open by themselves, right?" Chen Rui asked with a grin. 0

"Stop teasing us and just say it," Li Xue turned her head and rolled her eyes at Chen Rui. 0

"Alright, you focus on driving and pay attention to the road," Chen Rui said with a wry smile. 0

"If a car's door is open, it means the owner has been here. But if the owner is already next to the car, why wouldn't they just get in and drive away? The answer is simple: they were caught by a Zombie while opening the door or getting in, and they had no strength to resist, which is why the door remains open." 0

"Of course, having no strength to resist doesn't mean they wouldn't try. In order to resist more effectively, they might have dropped their keys to free up a hand to deal with the Zombie. Even so, it would still be futile, which is why I suggested you look for those cars with open doors." 0

After hearing Chen Rui's words, Wang Xinzhuo raised an eyebrow and asked, "But that's just speculation; the actual situation still depends on luck." 0

"Exactly. Part of this is luck. If we are extremely unlucky, we might not encounter a single car like that. However, it seems our luck isn't too bad right now." 0

Chen Rui paused for a moment before continuing, "While it is about luck, it's mainly about probability. When so many people rushed towards the parking lot, the chances of this situation occurring are not negligible." 0

"So you're gambling?" Li Li understood Chen Rui's meaning. If the probability reached a certain level, Chen Rui was fully willing to take the risk. 0

Chen Rui nodded, looking ahead at the road. There was a group of Zombies gathered at the intersection ahead, seemingly drawn there by something. 0

"Zombies ahead!" Li Xue tightened her grip on the steering wheel. "What should we do?" 0

Chen Rui smirked. "On the battlefield, if a reindeer blocks your path, what do you do?!" 0

The accelerator was pressed all the way down! 0
