Chen Rui found it impossible to comfort Li Li, as he had never experienced such feelings himself. Without the ability to empathize, it was difficult for him to understand the psychological pain she was currently enduring.
Quietly stepping away from Li Li, he realized that all he needed to do was adjust himself and then make a choice. However, for someone as sentimental as him, who had feelings for every girl, this was no simple task. The most troubling part was that Chen Rui had no idea how many more "Liu Qingkuang" were waiting for Li Li. What would happen to the other girls?
Chen Rui walked up behind Li Xue and gently covered her eyes with his hands. Lowering his voice, he playfully asked, "Guess who I am?"
Li Xue exclaimed joyfully, "Ming?"
"Ming? Wrong! Try again!" Chen Rui felt a bit annoyed; she should have guessed correctly right away!
"Not Ming? Then is it Wang?"
Chen Rui was genuinely getting frustrated. What was going on here?
"Wrong again! Guess again!"
"Still not right? Then it must be Gang!"
Chen Rui was both angry and amused; this girl was actually teasing him. Pretending to be upset, he turned to leave. As soon as Li Xue revealed herself, she hurriedly chased after him, wrapping her arms around his and grinning mischievously. "It was just a joke... why take it seriously?"
Chen Rui playfully pinched her nose and feigned anger. "I'm not happy at all! Very unhappy!"
Yet Li Xue seemed to be on cloud nine, clearly delighted that Chen Rui felt jealous.
Looking down at Li Xue nestled against him, Chen Rui sighed helplessly. He turned to greet the Dealer before leading Li Xue away to explore other places.
Las Vegas is known as a honeymoon paradise for couples around the world. It is more recognized by lovers than any other place, not just because it is a gambling city in the desert. This city offers cultural arts and culinary experiences beyond gambling. Most importantly, the breathtaking night view filled with dazzling lights is unmatched; even in larger cities today, it's hard to find such a stunning visual impact.
Chen Rui and Li Xue stepped out of the Pyramid Hotel, with Li Xue playfully pulling Chen Rui's hand, eager to take him somewhere.
Chen Rui could only follow her, even though in his dreams he had control over most of the city's management. In reality, he had no such power.
Moreover, his understanding of the city was limited to maps and the previous dream; there were still many places he had never visited.
The two of them took a taxi, and after Li Xue told the driver their destination, she fell silent, staring blankly out the window at the scenery.
"Do you remember when we were at the tower? It was really beautiful," Chen Rui said with a smile.
Li Xue shot him a glance. "You only remember the tower? Have you forgotten the movies we watched and our trip to the Aquarium? I was really happy then; it could have been in a dream."
The driver listened to their conversation with confusion but chose not to pay attention to his passengers. He gradually increased the speed of the taxi.
Before long, they arrived at the base of an apartment building. Chen Rui suddenly felt that this building looked familiar, but just as he was about to recall why, it slipped his mind again. Helplessly, he could only follow Li Xue.
They reached the third floor, and Li Xue pressed the doorbell. A woman's voice soon came from inside, asking in English, "Who is it?"
Li Xue remained silent, covering the camera with her hand and stifling a laugh as she waited for the person inside to open the door.
"Xue, is that you again? You always like to play this game when you come!" The beautiful woman gently pushed open the door, slightly annoyed.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Chen Rui standing there. The towel he had been holding fell lightly to the ground.
Chen Rui was equally shocked upon seeing her; she was like another Li Xue. If it weren't for that girl hiding behind the door and grinning at him, he might have thought he was losing his mind.
“Zijing,” the beautiful woman slowly opened her mouth, tears welling up and threatening to spill over as she gently reached out towards Chen Rui.
It finally dawned on Chen Rui that this must be Yuki Chiba. He hadn’t expected that they would know each other in the real world as well.
No, that was beyond doubt. If they weren’t acquainted in reality, how could she have found such a perfect substitute so quickly and accurately in a dream?
“Chiba… sister.” After pondering for a moment, Chen Rui still couldn’t bring himself to call her by name directly. Judging by her reaction upon seeing him, she must have been very fond of Chen Zijing. But he was not Chen Zijing.
“Alright, alright, enough of this love talk. Can you please let us in?” Li Xue suddenly emerged from behind the door, standing between the two and breaking the awkward atmosphere with a smile.
“Yes! Yes! Please come in.” Yuki Chiba wiped her eyes and invited them inside.
The layout of the room wasn’t entirely unfamiliar; after all, he had been here in his dreams before and had even experienced some unexpected events. However, some aspects were different since dreams could never perfectly replicate reality. It was already quite impressive if they could update every now and then.
“You haven’t formally introduced me yet.” Chen Rui noticed Yuki Chiba was still staring at him and hurriedly asked Li Xue to explain.
Li Xue grinned mischievously. “This is Chen Rui, a State-Owned Enterprise Employee; and this is Yuki Chiba. You should know more about her than I do.”
Yuki Chiba paused for a moment, then quickly asked, “Isn’t he Chen Zijing?”
Li Xue shook her head lightly, looking somewhat dejected. “No.”
“Then why are you so happy? The last time we met, you looked like you were about to die. Now you seem so lively. He must be Zijing! Hmph, how dare you lie to me!” Yuki Chiba laughed as she playfully tussled with Li Xue on the sofa, seemingly convinced of the identity of the person before her.
Chen Rui could only smile helplessly. “Yuki Chiba, I’m really not your old friend Chen Zijing; I’m just someone who looks remarkably like him.”
Yuki Chiba's hand holding the cushion suddenly stopped as she leaned in closer to Chen Rui, scrutinizing him carefully. She even took a moment to sniff around his neck, leaving Chen Rui feeling quite embarrassed.
The girl before him bore an uncanny resemblance to Li Xue; they could almost be seen as alternate versions of Chen Rui and Chen Zijing. Without speaking or moving, it was difficult to distinguish between the two.
Yuki Chiba looked at Chen Rui with pity. "You have the same breathing rhythm and the birthmark on your neck as he does. How can you not admit your identity? Do you want to see me break down before you feel happy?"
A birthmark on his neck? Did he have one? Chen Rui quickly pulled out his phone to check his neck. Indeed, there was a red scar at the very bottom of his neck; it was from when he had been burned...
"You need to explain this to her; I can't do it properly," Chen Rui urged, pushing Li Xue's shoulder with a sincere look in his eyes.
"Hey, don't do that..." Li Xue teased, stepping away from Chen Rui with a mischievous smile. Clearly, she had anticipated this move from him and wasn't about to give him any chance.
Seeing Chen Rui's expression, Yuki Chiba realized he was unwilling to admit he was Chen Zijing. Her eyes turned red again, tears shimmering and threatening to spill over.
Noticing Yuki Chiba was about to cry again, Chen Rui hurried over to comfort her but suddenly found himself at a loss for words, awkwardly standing in front of her with a dazed yet cute expression.
When Yuki Chiba saw Chen Rui approaching, she punched him lightly in the chest. "If you're not Chen Zijing, then just get lost!"
Chen Rui opened his mouth but couldn't find the words. His hands slightly opened as if he wanted to embrace Yuki Chiba but hesitated, unable to pull her into his arms.
"You heartless person!!!" Yuki Chiba finally couldn't hold back her tears any longer and threw herself into Chen Rui's embrace. She pounded her small fists against his chest repeatedly; though it didn't hurt much, it pierced through him like a deep ache.
Why? Why did it hurt so much? Was it because they looked so alike? That couldn't be right! Shouldn't he just be an actor meant to make her happy? Why was he so caught up in this?
As she cried, Yuki Chiba eventually fell silent against Chen Rui's chest. After a while, the soft sound of her gentle snores filled the air.
Chen Rui stared in surprise at the beauty in his arms. She was sleeping so soundly, especially after crying so hard just moments ago. It was still midday!
Li Xue watched Chen Rui coldly, her eyes filled with jealousy, the air thick with the scent of vinegar.
"This wasn't my intention," Chen Rui said with a faint smile as he gently lifted Yuki Chiba and carried her back to her room, laying her down on her bed and covering her with a blanket.
Li Xue scoffed, "Oh, falling in love so quickly? It seems you're not much different from my brother after all."
Chen Rui chuckled helplessly. This girl was too jealous. She had brought him here to meet friends, yet she was acting this way. Besides, that beauty looked just like her—wasn't this just a case of her being jealous of herself?
As Chen Rui and Li Xue stepped out of Yuki Chiba's room, Chen Rui asked, "Who exactly is Yuki Chiba? Does she have some hidden illness? Otherwise, how could she fall asleep so easily?"
Li Xue teased, "Oh! You’re so concerned about her after just meeting. We've known each other for so long, and I don't recall you ever being this concerned about me."
"Your health is what makes me happiest. Besides, part of my concern for her is because she's your friend and... she looks a lot like you," Chen Rui said, looking into Li Xue's eyes as he slowly delivered this sentimental line.
This statement indeed struck Li Xue hard. The reason he cared for Yuki was that she resembled her; thus, he cared for Li Xue even more.
A blush quickly spread across Li Xue's cheeks, shattering all her previous sarcasm. It was merely the jealousy of a girl.
"She fell asleep because she should be sleeping right now," Li Xue said lightly.
And also because she could find solace in your embrace...
