"Bang bang bang..." Although the door had only been opened a crack, the Elephant General and Tiger had already opened fire. The Elephant General had made it clear that his principle was to kill anyone in sight, whether they were white-coated staff or an armed elite guard.
The fierce gunfire suppressed the defensive soldiers who were ready to rush out the moment the door opened. Golden bullets pierced through the bodies of the soldiers, leaving them no time to react before losing control of their bodies.
The massive steel door had been partially opened, and the Elephant General stepped onto the threshold. After quickly replacing his empty magazine, he rolled into the Control Center. "Follow me!"
Tiger also swapped in a new magazine and strode into the Control Center, shooting each surviving defensive soldier with a final bullet.
The big dog leaned against the metal door, using its slow movement as cover while shooting at the remaining enemies inside the Control Center. He couldn't charge in like Tiger and the Elephant General because he was the only technical personnel left in the team. If he fell, even if they cleared this place, it would have no deterrent effect.
It wasn't that the Elephant General and Tiger were clueless about computers; as special forces, they had to understand basic hacking techniques. However, infiltrating a Nuclear Weapon Control Computer that was heavily encrypted was still a daunting task.
The design of the Control Center resembled that of a cinema. Each person had a dedicated computer in front of them, along with 3D projections and dual-use screens. At the front was a projection area made up of four synchronized 3D projectors, and at the back, a large VIP booth appeared, reminiscent of those found in sports arenas.
"There!" The big dog shouted, pointing at the conspicuous booth.
There were hardly any enemies left in the Control Center, and all that remained were staff members. Although the Elephant General intended to kill everyone without exception, he hesitated when faced with women and elderly people in white coats. After all, he wasn't a true psychopath.
"Get out!" Just as Tiger was conflicted, the Elephant General shouted loudly at the group in white coats.
The white-coated staff exchanged doubtful glances until a beautiful woman slowly emerged from the Nuclear Control Center. Finally convinced that these three enemy special forces had spared them, they rushed out to escape.
Tiger smiled wryly; it seemed that his feelings were similar to those of the Elephant General. However, he didn't expect that the Elephant General would see through his thoughts. "Don't think I'm like you. I see no threat from them, and letting them go can delay other enemies from gathering."
The big dog walked past Tiger and the Elephant General, pulling out his Tactical Tablet and waving it at them. The three of them made their way to the booth at the back. Inside, it wasn't as luxurious as outside; there were no dual-use displays or 3D projection lights—just traditional keyboards and high-definition screens, giving it a rather standard appearance.
Elephant General and Tiger handed over their Tactical Tablets to the big dog, along with the ones they had brought from White Wolf and the fox, totaling five. Except for the one belonging to Lion Brother, which had been destroyed in an explosion, the remaining four could operate normally.
These Tactical Tablets were a top-secret project developed by the state. Each one could function independently and could be combined with any other tablet to significantly enhance computational power. When several tablets were linked together, their processing capability could rival that of professional-grade computers, sufficient to handle most situations.
The five Tactical Tablets were connected to form a long strip screen measuring sixty-five centimeters in length and twenty centimeters in width. The borderless design allowed the five tablets to display images simultaneously without any sense of dissonance, making it feel as if one were watching a movie.
The big dog quickly located the Main Computer and connected the Joint Computer (Combination of Five Tactical Tablets) to it.
Their rapid infiltration had caught the white-coated personnel off guard; they hadn’t even thought to shut down the computers while escaping, nor had they locked the safety locks on the Silo, which made things much easier for the big dog.
Sitting in front of the computer on a single-person sofa, the big dog’s hands flew over the mechanical keyboard, the sound of furious typing evoking memories of internet cafes from twenty years ago.
“Go blow up the three computers on the far right of the second row! Aim for the main chassis!” Without turning his head, he shouted this command while continuing to type frantically.
Upon hearing this, Tiger sprinted to the Control Center's second row and aimed at the main chassis of the three computers, unleashing a barrage of gunfire. Sparks flew as their screens and holographic projections dimmed. Instead of returning to the booth, Tiger remained at the metal door's entrance to prevent any silent intruders from sneaking in unnoticed.
Before long, the big dog saw a line of English letters and Arabic numbers displayed on the screen: ne —: 59:55, with options below reading yes r n.
Additionally, two lines of prompts appeared: his perain is irreversib1e! he ier rese i11 rese he syse!
The big dog slammed his hand on the table. He had activated the dead man's switch, confirming that there was one hour left. If the timer reached zero, this computer would reset, meaning control would revert back to the Pentagon. However, they hadn’t yet managed to destroy the nuclear warhead's delivery rocket.
“There’s still an hour!” Elephant General patted the big dog's shoulder and smiled. “You stay here and contact headquarters immediately. Tiger and I will go destroy the delivery rocket. Which one should we target for maximum effect?”
The big dog forced a smile. “Any one will do, but it’s best to target the Silo we just entered! You’ll have to retrace your steps!”
Elephant General smiled and waved as he walked out of the booth, reloading his rifle. "It's fine, we still have an hour, right? You take care of your business here, and Tiger and I will destroy that rocket launcher!"
Watching Elephant General and Tiger leave the Control Center, the big dog slammed his paws on the table in anger, tears streaming down his face. He picked up the Joint Computer and pressed a red pentagram icon, confirming the 'Mission Completed' option.
Elephant General playfully patted Tiger on the back. "Let's go, we’ll hit them with a surprise attack!"
Tiger paused for a moment, then smiled in understanding. Before leaving, he closed the metal door and destroyed the external keypad, ensuring that the enemy would have difficulty entering the Control Center for a while. No matter what happened, at least the big dog was still alive inside, which posed a significant threat to the enemy nation.
The white-coated personnel indeed slowed down the enemy's approach, but they also confused them about where to find their targets. The remaining squads were heading toward the Control Center; no matter which direction they came from, they would eventually cross paths with Elephant General and Tiger.
The big dog sat dazed on the sand, unsure if the news of their completed mission had been communicated back. This was a military base, and aside from a few internal signals, it was nearly impossible to connect with satellites or ground stations. There was simply no way to use wireless communication to contact the outside world.
Buzzing sounds came from the Tactical Tablet. The big dog hurriedly picked up the sixty-centimeter-long tablet and turned on the screen.
On the display: several middle-aged men in Zhongshan Suits stood together with a group of high-ranking military officers, their eyes seemingly piercing through the screen directly at the big dog.
The big dog quickly stood up and saluted, shouting loudly, "People's Liberation Army of China..."
The middle-aged man in Zhongshan Suit raised his hand to stop him and got straight to the point. "Have you completed your mission?"
The big dog immediately stood at attention. "Yes! My unit has completed the mission assigned by our superiors and has taken control of the situation."
The Zhongshan Suit Man smiled slightly, nodding in approval before asking again, "Are you the only one left? Where are the other team members?"
"No! So far we have lost four members, including the Liaison Officer! The other two are currently heading to the missile silo to prepare for destroying the rocket launcher."
"How much time is left until the deadline for the Dead Hand system?" a soldier in uniform asked, the wheat ears on his epaulettes accentuating the three golden stars, making them particularly eye-catching.
Big Dog glanced at the countdown. "Fifty-three minutes left!"
"Alright, you continue to hold your position. We'll do our best to force the enemy to surrender during this time. Of course, your two comrades must also work hard to complete their mission! Don't let down the expectations of the people of our country!"
The live video ended, and Big Dog was unsure how they had connected with him. Perhaps the enemy intentionally allowed his superiors to contact him, using it as an opportunity to steal information and confirm the situation on the ground, or maybe his superiors had employed some advanced communication technology.
Big Dog sat helplessly on the sand and let out a long sigh.
"Cover the advance!" Elephant General crouched down, quickly knocking off the magazine from his rifle and pulling a loaded magazine from his waist, reloading with clean and swift movements that took no more than two seconds.
Tiger immediately charged forward upon hearing this, perfectly helping Elephant General attract a wave of enemy attention. Of course, this came at a cost; Tiger was shot in the left arm.
In this critical moment, there was no time to cry out in pain. Tiger and Elephant General continued to push forward; moving during indoor combat was certainly much safer than staying fixed in one position.
The firepower duo relentlessly tore through the bodies of enemy Sergeants, stepping over pools of blood as they advanced. Bullets passed through their bodies but failed to halt their steps. They were like reapers from hell, harvesting the lives of those soldiers.
"We're almost there," Elephant General spat out a mouthful of blood and said slowly.
"Yeah." At that moment, Tiger's mind was filled with only one concept: forward! Forward! Keep moving forward!
