In today's Beijing, there are many well-known figures that people often mention, but very few can truly leave them in shock. Among them, Li stands out as the foremost, given that the name Li is already rare, and the reputation of the Dawn Group resonates deeply with the people of China.
"This is troublesome," Wang Zhongshuai sighed, his eyes fixed on Chen Rui. He seemed unable to comprehend how Chen Rui managed to associate with someone like Li Xue, and from his brother's gaze, it was clear their relationship was not superficial.
Lion Brother glanced at Chen Rui and sighed. "Indeed, trying to use a Red Envelope to gain entry is practically impossible now. We need to offer something that would please Sister Li... or perhaps something that might anger her."
Upon hearing this, Chen Rui felt uneasy and quickly took a step back. However, Tiger and Big Dog had already stealthily crept up behind him and swiftly lifted him up.
Lion Brother approached Chen Rui with a smile. "Sorry about this, Brother Chen. I need to borrow this ring from you."
Chen Rui forced a smile but remained silent. He had guessed what Lion Brother intended to do and could already foresee Li Xue's reaction afterward. Although he didn't want to witness such a situation, he felt he couldn't refuse this 'sincere' request.
Lion Brother removed the ring from Chen Rui's left middle finger but found it wasn't as easy as he thought. Chen Rui's fingers were quite slender, causing his knuckles to be thicker than his finger segments, especially on the middle finger, ring finger, and the third joint of his thumb.
This made it difficult to take off the ring. Lion Brother looked at Chen Rui and asked, "How did you even get this on? Judging by the marks on your knuckles, you shouldn't have been able to wear this ring for more than three days."
"Who knows? She just forced it on me," Chen Rui shrugged helplessly, indicating he was powerless in this situation. Who knew how Li Xue had managed to put the ring on without hurting him yesterday?
Lion Brother frowned and quickly asked, "Does anyone have oil? Any kind of oil will do; if not, water works too."
Chen Rui realized what Lion Brother was planning and panicked. "Hey! What are you trying to do? Violence is not acceptable!"
Tiger laughed behind Chen Rui. "But sometimes a simple and rough method is the most effective."
Lion Brother obtained some peanut oil from one of the Groomsmen and began rubbing it on Chen Rui's middle finger and the ring. Suddenly, he pulled hard outward, and the ring slid off smoothly past Chen Rui's knuckle.
Wang Zhongshuai was overjoyed at this sight. He immediately took out an empty Red Envelope, stuffed the ring inside, sealed it up, and shouted toward the room, "Sister Li, this gift will definitely satisfy you."
"Let's see now; I'm quite picky!" Li Xue replied mischievously as she took the Red Envelope from the mail slot.
Moments later, a furious voice echoed from inside the house. "Chen Rui!"
The door... swung open...
Li Xue stormed out, searching the crowd for Chen Rui, completely oblivious to the fact that she had flung the door wide open.
Chen Rui and Liang Yu exchanged wry smiles at the scene; it was clear that this group had hit the nail on the head with Li Xue, managing to calm her down in an instant.
As soon as Li Xue burst out, Wang Zhongshuai and the other groomsmen quickly darted inside, fearing that their lady would conjure up some trouble for them again.
When Li Xue finally spotted Chen Rui, she noticed he was flanked by Tiger and a large dog, along with Elephant General, Lion Brother, and others nearby. Understanding what was going on, she stomped her foot in frustration, pointing at Chen Rui and stammering, "You... you... you! Are you stupid? Why didn’t you shout out?"
"I would have if I could," Chen Rui thought to himself with a bitter smile.
Li Xue pulled out the ring and placed it back onto Chen Rui's middle finger. "If there's a next time, you'll regret it!"
"Alright, alright, this is a wedding after all," Chen Rui said with a chuckle, trying to deflect the jealous glances from Tiger and the others.
Seeing that everyone else had gone inside, Chen Rui leaned closer to Li Xue and whispered, "You did that on purpose just now, didn’t you?"
Li Xue blinked her adorable eyes and smiled slightly. "Did you notice?"
"Honestly, anyone could see that. But in that moment, many people were too focused on the bride to notice you," Chen Rui replied as he leaned against the doorframe, observing the chaos inside. The groomsmen were scrambling around trying to find one of the bride's shoes while Liang Yu laughed at their disheveled state.
"If we consider your actual age, identity, and social experience in light of what just happened, the outcome becomes clear. Since you've climbed your way up to this point on your own, you wouldn't lose your composure over something surprising. Besides, your reaction after coming out and seeing those Special Forces guys looking shocked seemed a bit overdone; it looked too much like a bullied schoolgirl act," Chen Rui said as he gently ruffled Li Xue's hair.
Li Xue stared at Chen Rui for a moment before suddenly pinching his right ear with her right hand and teasingly asked, "Am I not a college student?"
Chen Rui winced in pain and quickly replied, "Yes! Yes! Isn't that enough?"
"How foolish of me," Chen Rui thought mournfully. "I understood the situation but still chose to act in front of everyone. I must really be living too comfortably, seeking out trouble."
Inside the house:
Wang Zhongshuai, along with a group of Groomsmen, had nearly turned the place upside down, yet they still couldn't find the other new shoe. He couldn't help but feel puzzled. "Hey? This is impossible! Could it be that the shoe grew wings and flew away?"
Suddenly, Liang Yu, who was in the living room, couldn't hold back a laugh upon hearing this. Wang Zhongshuai and the other Groomsmen exchanged glances and immediately understood one thing: someone had dashed out the moment the door opened!
"Quick, go find Sister Li!" Wang Zhongshuai urged the nearest Groomsman to rush outside while he moved closer to Liang Yu, putting on a pitiful act in hopes that she would help retrieve the other new shoe.
After all, who was Li Xue? If she refused to hand it over, would these big guys dare to snatch it from her? If she were just an ordinary bridesmaid, it wouldn't matter, but she was the daughter of the Li Family! This truly gave the Groomsmen a headache.
Li Xue released Chen Rui's ear and stuffed a Red Bag into his hand. "Looks like they've finally caught on. Hold onto this tightly; if you dare give it away again, just wait and see how I'll deal with you!"
"What is this?" Chen Rui asked, holding the red bag. Inside was something box-like that rattled when he shook it; he basically understood what it was.
Chen Rui hurriedly hid the red bag behind the door and leaned against it, pretending nothing had happened.
One Groomsman rushed up to Li Xue, panting heavily. "Li... Sister Li, is the bride's new shoe with you?"
Li Xue glanced at him and smiled brightly. "Yes! If you want it, come chase me!"
With that, Li Xue quickly dashed toward the stairs. The Groomsman shouted back into the house, "Sister Li has taken the shoes upstairs!" before continuing to pant as he ran after her.
Hearing this, all the Groomsmen inside rushed toward the stairs as well, and the entire staircase echoed with the sound of heels clashing against steps.
Chen Rui recalled the high-heeled Roman sandals that Li Xue was wearing and couldn't help but shake his head with a smile. "This is crazy; what if she falls?"
"Forget it; let me take the blame," Chen Rui said self-deprecatingly as he picked up the red bag hidden behind the door and strode into the room, directly spotting Liang Yu and Wang Zhongshuai on the sofa.
Liang Yu and Wang Zhongshuai were whispering to each other, and just when the groomsmen had finally dashed out, leaving only the two of them, Chen Rui suddenly barged in, causing both newlyweds to blush deeply.
Seeing Liang Yu and Wang Zhongshuai’s faces as red as roses, Chen Rui chuckled as he placed a red bag beside the sofa and said with a smile, "Groom! Everyone is waiting for you! Aren't you going to hurry?"
Wang Zhongshuai glanced at the red bag and immediately understood what was inside. He smiled back at Chen Rui, saying, "Brother Chen, I will remember this great favor!"
"Enough with the flattery; the important thing is to carry the bride downstairs quickly!" Chen Rui stopped joking with Wang Zhongshuai, closed the door behind them, and took the elevator down.
When Chen Rui reached the first floor, he found Liang Yu already chatting and laughing with the group of bridesmaids at the entrance of the building. Surprised, he asked, "This is the nineteenth floor! How did you get down so fast in high heels?"
Li Xue smiled proudly. "Of course! You should see who I am!"
Chen Rui was amused by Li Xue; he really hadn’t expected her physical fitness to be so good. It took only two or three minutes for her to descend from the nineteenth floor to the first floor, and she was wearing a pair of eight-inch Roman heels!
"Hurry up and get ready; the groom is about to carry the bride down!" Chen Rui shouted loudly to the bustling crowd. Upon hearing this, the bridesmaids quickly began placing prepared balloons on the ground and took out colorful ribbons, getting ready to form a welcoming arch for the newlyweds.
The groomsmen also hurriedly made their way downstairs. Once they learned that the shoes were already in the groom's hands, they finally relaxed. Despite their exhaustion, they helped with preparations as well. The narrow hallway was crowded with over twenty people, all working together to give their best wishes to the couple.
The elevator began to make noise; it had reached the nineteenth floor. Moments later, it started descending. At a groomsman's signal, everyone raised their ribbon tubes in unison.
"Ding." Wang Zhongshuai slowly stepped out of the elevator carrying Liang Yu on his back. At that moment, those standing along both sides of the hallway began to spray ribbons into the air. A faint blush appeared on Liang Yu's face as she sat on Wang Zhongshuai's back...
