Li Xue noticed that the lunch boxes were almost empty, yet the nearly one hundred employees showed no signs of wanting to take a break. With a slight smile, she spoke through the microphone, "Everyone, it's now time for lunch break. You have one hour to relax as you wish, but please return before the afternoon shift starts."
The students glanced at Li Xue and then exchanged looks with each other, silently continuing to sit at their desks without any intention of taking a break.
Li Xue realized that the students misunderstood her intentions. She walked up to the podium and projected a large message behind it: "There are still days left until the game is completed."
Seeing this message, most students secretly felt relieved that they hadn't immediately followed Li Xue's command to rest; it seemed that it was merely a test.
"If you think I was just testing you, then you are very mistaken," Li Xue said, leaving the students stunned. Many looked at her in disbelief: What did she mean by displaying such a message?
"There are still two hundred days left until the game is finished, which is about six and a half months. For our efficient team, this time is more than sufficient!" Li Xue continued. "However, I am worried about you because I want this game to be a world-class blockbuster, so there must be no flaws. This requires the effort of everyone present and those who are not here."
"What concerns me is that if you adopt such a frantic attitude right from the start, I worry you won't be able to hold on until the end! Especially during the final sprint phase, when the workload will be at its highest intensity. Therefore, I hope you can manage your rest time wisely. Simply working overtime does not necessarily mean contributing significantly to the team; what I need are employees who can step up when it matters!"
After saying all this, Li Xue wanted to convey one clear message: it was time to rest, and there was no need to force yourselves to keep working just because of her presence.
After Li Xue finished speaking, although the people below seemed somewhat relaxed, they still dared not fully let their guard down as they saw her remaining at the podium.
Li Xue knew exactly what these kids were thinking. She shook her head with a smile and quickly walked out of the top-floor classroom.
Chen Rui did not take the elevator directly to the first floor; instead, he arrived at the thirteenth floor's Record Office. At this moment, as a Special Staff member assigned an individual task, Group A was theoretically supposed to be on break. However, upon entering the office, Chen Rui found everyone diligently working at their stations, their seriousness surpassing even when he was present!
"Have you all gone mad?" Chen Rui asked incredulously as he approached Peng Hao and touched his forehead. The back of his hand did not feel as hot as he had imagined. Chen Rui looked at Peng Hao in surprise. "Are you sick? If you're ill, you need to get treated!"
Peng Hao chuckled and pushed Chen Rui away playfully. "You're the one who's sick! Is it wrong for colleagues to occasionally work hard? At this rate, I see Group A really disbanding sooner or later."
"Alright, alright! I won't disturb you any longer." Chen Rui laughed as he walked through each team's office. Every team member maintained a serious working attitude, focused intently on their computer screens; however, what was displayed on those screens was not what Chen Rui was accustomed to seeing…
Chen Rui entered Xiong Kai's office where Xiong Kai didn't even look up. "What brings you back? You slacked off for half a day; Boss will fire you!"
Chen Rui laughed lightly, "I actually want her to fire me, but I estimate that's impossible in the short term."
Xiong Kai shot Chen Rui a glance and said with a bitter smile, "If you have something to say, just say it. I'm busy here!"
Chen Rui leaned closer to Xiong Kai, checking if the door was closed, then whispered in Xiong Kai's ear, "Is there a spy from higher-ups in our group?"
"Are you filming a spy drama or something? Do you really think there's a spy sent by the higher-ups?" Xiong Kai pushed Chen Rui away. "Just get to the point!"
"Then why does everyone outside seem like they've been injected with hormones, working so seriously? Haven't you noticed?"
Chen Rui looked at Xiong Kai in surprise. While Xiong Kai was lost in thought, Chen Rui quickly glanced at Xiong Kai's computer screen, and his heart skipped a beat. He hurriedly controlled his emotions and stared blankly at Xiong Kai.
Xiong Kai didn't notice Chen Rui's expression. He sighed and replied dismissively, "It's possible they realized their poor work attitude has caused significant impacts and losses to A Group and the company, so they're trying to turn over a new leaf."
"Do you even believe that?" Chen Rui chuckled and sighed, patting Xiong Kai on the shoulder. "Forget it; I have things to do. I'm leaving."
"Yeah..." Xiong Kai watched Chen Rui leave the office. After Chen Rui closed the door, he turned back to his computer screen and suddenly realized that the program he had just opened was neither minimized nor closed...
"Whatever, it was bound to happen sooner or later," Xiong Kai said with a wry smile as he continued working.
Chen Rui dashed out of the company as if fleeing for his life. As he passed through the various office areas, the gazes from team members felt like demonic stares, filling him with dread.
Once outside, Chen Rui got into Gao Zhijie's car and headed for the airport. Since Zhang Jun hadn't informed him of Deng Jun's flight number, Chen Rui had no choice but to keep an eye on every flight arriving from Hawaii while repeatedly calling Deng Jun.
Before long, the call was finally answered, but as soon as it connected, he was met with an angry tirade from the other end. "Are you out of your mind? How many calls have you made! Can't you just wait for me in the arrivals hall?"
"There are so many people; I was afraid you'd miss me!" Chen Rui laughed lightly. "I'm waiting at exit A; hurry up."
With that, Chen Rui hung up the phone, leaving Deng Jun standing at the boarding bridge staring at his phone screen in confusion. After a moment, he cursed under his breath, "What the hell! Are you the leader or am I? Acting all high and mighty! I'll fire you!"
If Chen Rui were standing next to Deng Jun at that moment, he would first be taken aback by Deng Jun's shout, and then, with a mischievous grin, he would tease, "Then go ahead and fire me, let's see if you have the authority to do that!"
Following Chen Rui's words, Deng Jun made his way to exit A and quickly found Chen Rui standing by the glass door. He approached and tossed his luggage into Chen Rui's hands, casually slipping his hands into his pockets as he walked toward the parking lot.
Chen Rui received the suitcase with a wry smile and hurried to catch up with Deng Jun.
Once they were in the car, Deng Jun glanced at the vehicle and asked, "What’s this? Did you buy another car?"
Chen Rui shook his head. "I don't know who has such poor taste to buy a car like this!"
"With your attitude, Gao Zhijie is bound to get upset," Deng Jun chuckled, recalling that this car likely belonged to Gao Zhijie, the leader of Action Team Two.
"Anyway, he can't hear it," Chen Rui shrugged, clearly unfazed by Deng Jun's comment.
After a moment of silence, Chen Rui finally mustered the courage to say, "Let’s get straight to the point; I need to talk to you about something!"
Deng Jun noticed that this time Chen Rui was not using his usual casual tone but had switched to formal language, which was extremely rare coming from someone as proud as Chen Rui.
"It's just about borrowing the Central Hub; I've already discussed it with the tech department. It's completely feasible. After all, it's for a game designed for the Fourth World; we should support it, right?" Deng Jun smiled as if this matter posed no pressure for him at all.
Chen Rui nodded slowly. "Indeed, that's one thing. But since you already know about it and judging by your reaction, it seems like it has been reported and approved. Let's not discuss this matter further."
Deng Jun's lips twitched slightly as he thought to himself that even if Chen Rui was mentally prepared for this outcome, couldn’t he at least say thank you? The way he spoke made Deng Jun feel like punching him!
"Just say what you need directly. If it's something I can do that doesn't violate national laws or company regulations, I can generally help you out," Deng Jun said gruffly.
This statement amused Chen Rui. Among the things you can do that neither violate national laws nor company regulations—how many could there possibly be? Isn’t your position meant to approve some actions that might typically breach regulations but are indeed beneficial for project development?
If these matters don't concern you, then the people who come to you must either be out of their minds or have water in their brains. Or perhaps their heads got caught in the door?
Chen Rui smiled lightly and said, "It's nothing serious, just some personal issues."
"Personal issues?" Deng Jun laughed heartily. "Don't come to me complaining about how your Sister Li is acting. Although she is your assistant, you know the standing of the Li Family. Don't expect me to be able to manage her."
Chen Rui shook his head. "It's a personal issue, not a social one. Besides, don't get the wrong idea; I have no relationship with her beyond that of friends and colleagues. I just want to ask you a question!"
Seeing Chen Rui's serious expression, Deng Jun also put away his smile and asked solemnly, "What’s going on?"
Chen Rui parked the car by the roadside, looked into Deng Jun's eyes, and said slowly, "What do you really know about me?"
