Zhuo Rohan was inspecting the work status of everyone in her department. She had just come up from downstairs, feeling a bit down. Although she held the title of Chief Director, it was clear that the people at Zhi Cheng Entertainment, along with those from Dusksar, only listened to Li Xue or Chen Rui.
Even Fan Xiaohu's words carried more weight than her own; at least that group of programmers would pay attention to him.
Zhuo Rohan was well aware that in their eyes, she was just a wealthy young lady who hadn't even graduated from university. They might respect her, but that respect was entirely different from what she desired.
She quickly adjusted her mood and walked into the top-floor office with a calm demeanor. Seeing the team still in an excited state made her feel a bit happier, as she knew these were her true subordinates.
She approached the desk of Planning Team Leader Ye Yi, who had piles of documents stacked high. Each planning proposal that had been approved was copied and kept on Ye Yi's desk, while the originals were sent downstairs to the programming and art teams.
As time passed, no matter how strict Ye Yi was in reviewing proposals, more and more would inevitably get approved. After all, the teams downstairs were pushing hard for progress; if planning continued to lag behind, the overall pace would slow down.
"Is everything going smoothly?" Zhuo Rohan asked lightly, flipping through some documents on the desk.
Ye Yi sighed and set down his pen. "Honestly, I didn't expect this job to be so exhausting. Maybe a real game planning director doesn't have it this tough, but our timeline is tight."
"Then you need to step it up; your work attitude affects your 'employees'," Zhuo Rohan said with a smile as she patted Ye Yi's shoulder.
Ye Yi shrugged. "How can I take advice from you? You're at least the Chief Director, yet you only seem to play the role of an inspector."
Zhuo Rohan frowned slightly, opening her mouth but unsure how to retort. Although she bore the title of Chief Director, there wasn't much for her to manage yet; most tasks hadn't reached a stage where she was needed.
Ye Yi laughed heartily. "I’m just joking! Why are you taking it so seriously? Anyway, I'm busy here; could you go bother those slackers downstairs? They seem pretty idle."
With a grin, Ye Yi gently pushed Zhuo Rohan away. Although she wore a smile, it seemed forced; it was clear she wasn't pleased with Ye Yi's comment.
What does it mean for me to go bother others? Am I annoying you just by standing next to you while inspecting?
Frustration bubbled up inside Zhuo Rohan again as she walked further into the office area, passing by each 'employee' and feeling a slight sense of satisfaction as she observed them diligently planning games.
Suddenly, Zhuo Rohan noticed that two male employees were not working seriously; instead, they were chatting and seemed to be having a great time. Zhuo Rohan frowned slightly and walked over, gently clearing her throat. Once the two realized her presence, they greeted her with smiles but did not resume their work, continuing their previous conversation.
Zhuo Rohan's anger flared up instantly. She grabbed the tie of the boy who had spoken first and forcibly pulled him up from his seat, shouting, "Is this what you should be doing during work hours?"
The boy clearly did not expect Zhuo Rohan to be so agitated. After glancing at his companion, he forced a smile and said, "We're in the Planning Team; we mainly need inspiration, so it's essential to relax often. Who knows, exchanging ideas might lead to new insights."
Zhuo Rohan smiled faintly and released his tie, asking with a grin, "So, what is your latest plan?" She glanced at the planning guidelines on their desk and realized that these two were responsible for Numerical Planning—essentially tasked with ensuring equality among various characters, equipment, magic, and other differentiating elements.
"Um..." The two exchanged glances. Although they had been discussing games earlier, it was impossible to compare those with this world-class game, making it difficult to derive any new ideas from their brief conversation.
Just as they were about to come up with more excuses to brush her off, Zhuo Rohan swiftly struck the left cheek of the person on her right with the back of her hand and then slapped the right cheek of the person on her left. "You’re slacking off during work hours, ignoring your leader and discipline! What do you think you're doing?"
The two boys were still reeling from the shock of being slapped when Zhuo Rohan's shout startled them into silence as they stared blankly at her.
Zhuo Rohan sighed, realizing that her actions had indeed been a bit excessive. However, she had no intention of apologizing; after all, they had brought this upon themselves.
"What are you still standing there for? Get back to work!" Seeing that they remained in front of her, Zhuo Rohan frowned again and shouted.
Instinctively, the two sat down at their desks, placing their hands on the touchscreen and aimlessly scribbling something.
Zhuo Rohan turned to walk away but bumped into someone who happened to be passing by at that moment. Coincidentally, that person was holding a freshly brewed cup of coffee, which spilled onto one of the chatting employees.
"I'm so sorry! I really apologize!" The boy who had made the coffee quickly set down his cup and handed a tissue to the person who had been splashed.
"Ahhh..." The individual who got splashed yelped in pain from the hot coffee. It was just the change of seasons; they had draped their jackets over their chairs and were only wearing thin shirts, making them quite vulnerable to burns.
Zhuo Rohan frowned again and scolded softly, "Stop yelling! What are you making such a fuss about in the office? You," she pointed at the boy who had spilled coffee, "take him outside to clean up."
The friend of the burned boy immediately reacted and could no longer hold back. He stood up and glared at Zhuo Rohan. "Excuse me, what kind of attitude is that? Do you really think you're some big boss? And since he got burned like this, shouldn't you take some responsibility?"
The boy serving coffee was clearly a mediator, helping the burned person remove their coat while trying to smooth things over. "Come on, don’t misunderstand. Chairman Zhuo just wants us to step out and help him change clothes; there’s nothing more to it."
"I don’t think so. Just look at her attitude! With your attitude, your employees will leave sooner or later!" the boy chattered on.
Zhuo Rohan let out a cold laugh and mocked, "You're not wrong; that's exactly what I mean. I'm telling you to get lost!"
At this point, not only the three boys in front of him but also others nearby stopped what they were doing and turned to look.
"You heard me right! I'm telling you to get lost! If you don’t want to work and refuse to obey, then you don’t need to sit here!" Zhuo Rohan said fiercely.
The boy supported his burned friend and stared at Zhuo Rohan. "If we leave, just know that a tyrant like you will eventually lose everyone."
With that, the boy helped his friend step by step out of the office...
Zhuo Rohan scanned the room, taking in the gazes directed at him, and said flatly, "What are you looking at? Get back to work! Don’t you want to keep your jobs?"
The boy who had served coffee glanced at Zhuo Rohan, sighed softly, and said "Sorry" before walking straight out of the office...
Three days later:
Ever since that incident three days ago, every time she entered the office, she could feel a group of unfriendly gazes directed at her. Even those in the management of Class Three, who had been relatively close to her, seemed to be drifting away.
This morning, after Zhuo Rohan finished washing up and tidying his outfit, he was in high spirits as he prepared to head to the office when he was called over by Li Xue in the lobby on the first floor of the teaching building.
Li Xue was sitting on a sofa to the left of the hall and greeted Zhuo Rohan with a smile. "Zhuo Rohan, good morning."
"Good morning," Zhuo Rohan replied politely with a smile.
"I need to talk to you." Li Xue smiled slightly. "Let's go to the office building."
Zhuo Rohan felt a vague familiarity with this scene and conversation, but she couldn't quite recall when she had experienced something similar.
Li Xue led Zhuo Rohan to the top floor of the office building, which was also the principal's exclusive office. It was usually locked, but Li Xue pushed the door open without hesitation.
She walked over to the desk by the floor-to-ceiling window and handed a file folder to Zhuo Rohan. Zhuo Rohan took it and opened it, realizing it was her own file.
Smart as she was, she immediately understood Li Xue's intention and couldn't help but ask, "Why?"
"Your father may not have had the chance to tell you, but you can take a look at this." Li Xue tapped a few times on the touchscreen on the desk, and a news report began playing on the projection in the center of the hall:
"Hongqi Electronics announced its bankruptcy yesterday. All company equipment will be transferred for auction. Chairman Zhu..."
At this point, Li Xue turned off the news and looked calmly at Zhuo Rohan, shaking her head with a sigh.
"But..." Zhuo Rohan's eyes reddened; she found it hard to accept this reality. "What does this have to do with me? I planned to start from scratch after graduating here."
Li Xue handed another file folder to Zhuo Rohan. "Yes, even if your father's company has gone bankrupt, you can still stay here until graduation. After all, we don't charge any fees other than sponsorship fees. But take a look at this..."
Zhuo Rohan's hands trembled as she slowly uncoiled the binder on the file folder and pulled out a sheet of pure white paper.
Upon seeing the title on the white paper, Zhuo Rohan felt dizzy but forced herself to keep reading. When she reached the last four names, she could no longer hold herself up and fell backward.
Li Xue hurriedly caught Zhuo Rohan before she hit the ground and helped her into a nearby chair.
The document in Zhuo Rohan's hand slowly slipped to the floor, and the title on the white paper stood out starkly: Jinghua University Level 4 Full Vote to Revoke Classmate Zhuo Rohan's Position as Student Council President and Chief Director of The World Voting Document.
Jinghua University Level 4 Total Number of Students: 96
Number of Approvals: 95
Below are signatures of those in favor: …………
The last line contained only four names: Level 4 Class Three: Li Chunbo, Li Zheng, Ye Yi, Fan Xiaohu.
"You can still hold on here until graduation, but I think..."
"No... I'm leaving." A tear slipped from the corner of Zhuo Rohan's eye.

"Is this good enough?" Gao Zhijie smiled as he looked at the computer screen. "I didn't expect it to happen so quickly."
Chen Rui scoffed, "You're thinking too simply; it's still a long way off. This child is much stronger than you imagine. So if we're going to strike, we need to shatter her confidence completely before we can help her rebuild it."
"Wow, that's complicated!"
"That's how complicated it is, but these steps are all necessary."
