After scanning the surroundings, Chen Fan chose to ignore them.
The various nations of the Marvel Universe had relatively complete laws, and regardless of the purpose for entering the otherworld, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing to venture into a world resembling an apocalypse.
In a world where living was worse than dying, no matter what happened, things likely couldn't get much worse.
"Sir, are you really not going to join us?" Coulson approached. If Chen Fan were to join S.H.I.E.L.D., they would likely be able to handle anything that came their way in the otherworld.
Given S.H.I.E.L.D.'s current strength, he felt quite uncertain.
—The only combat power they could muster was just two people.
"You all are too slow!" Chen Fan pointed out a frustrating fact for Coulson.
If they mixed into a team of ordinary people from S.H.I.E.L.D., finding the Vampire Clan would probably take ages.
"Sir, we should get going!" Tony called from a short distance away.
Coulson had experienced Tony's eloquence; if given enough time, he might actually convince Chen Fan to join them, which was a scenario he wanted to avoid at all costs.
Tony was eager to explore the otherworld, but that didn't mean he overlooked the frequent accidents that could occur. With Chen Fan as insurance, he could conduct his research in the otherworld without worry.
At Tony's beckoning, Chen Fan waved goodbye to Coulson. He didn't want to follow S.H.I.E.L.D. not only because too many people were bothersome but also due to their equipment.
A bunch of cold weapons and a comfortable Floating Fortress—Chen Fan didn't even need to think about it. No matter how much Coulson talked, he wouldn't consider joining S.H.I.E.L.D.
Just as Chen Fan turned away from him, Coulson cleared his throat awkwardly because just a meter away from him, a massive flying vehicle suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Its sleek appearance and the ability to hover silently in mid-air were striking.
The Anti-Gravity Engine!
Everyone who saw the Floating Fortress rubbed their eyes in disbelief; something that had only existed in theory had now materialized and was openly displayed before them without any concealment whatsoever.
Tony stood atop the fortress, his face hidden beneath his armor but revealing a proud smile.
The Anti-Gravity Engine had not appeared because there was no energy supplied to this gluttonous machine. However, Tony had Fusion Energy, which perfectly met the consumption needs of the Anti-Gravity Engine. Thus, the Floating Fortress was born.
This mobile residence prioritized defense and comfort!
This was also a new product that Tony was preparing to launch, although this particular model was a high-end version meant for personal use and not for sale.
As Chen Fan stepped into the fortress, he rubbed his eyes. The interior design completely replicated the style of Stark Industries' top floor. It featured a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and even residential areas; the research lab had been moved here as well.
Before him were Peter and Monster Teacher, who were devouring a bag of popcorn with great enthusiasm.
“Chen Fan! Iron Man's inventions are amazing!” Monster Teacher exclaimed, its eyes filled with unmasked envy, though it continued munching on popcorn.
It was indeed impressive; wasn’t this just a scaled-down version of the Zero Floating Aircraft Carrier he had designed?
Chen Fan felt somewhat speechless at Tony's imitation. However, the environment and comfort here made him overlook the plagiarism incident.
“So! Why do we need to work with S.H.I.E.L.D.?” Big Boy said with a mocking smile directed at the image displayed in the living room, which showed a bewildered Coulson and his team.
At that moment, Tony descended from the top of the fortress using an elevator installed there. This method perfectly suited his style; in case of emergencies, he could be launched from here. Such an entrance…
Tony chuckled lightly.
“J.A.R.V.I.S., activate autonomous separation system!” After removing his gear, Tony moved to an area filled with projection screens and began controlling the Floating Fortress as it approached the Spatial Rift.
Drawing inspiration from Iron Armor's design, the Floating Fortress possessed corresponding capabilities. After all, the Spatial Rift was only a few meters long and wide; it would be impossible for the Floating Fortress to pass through without adjustments. Therefore, Tony segmented and assembled all areas accordingly.
Each section of the Floating Fortress acted like a detachable module that could be separated or assembled. This way, the Spatial Rift would be large enough to accommodate its passage.
Meanwhile, as Tony finished his preparations, countless faces outside displayed expressions of shock.
The massive Floating Fortress disassembled in mid-air into independent components. Within moments, it reassembled into a steel monster over a hundred meters long and surged toward the center of the Spatial Rift.
Is this a transformation?
What an eye-opener!
As the Floating Fortress vanished into the gap, everyone closed their mouths and hurriedly signaled the team to advance into the otherworld.
...
Inside the Floating Fortress, when the occupants felt a slight tremor beneath them, the projection screen shifted to reveal a vast plain.
An endless expanse of overgrown wilderness, devoid of any signs of life.
Withered, decayed, and silent, what lay before their eyes was a scene of desolation filled with skeletal remains—both animal and human—creating a stark and sorrowful sight.
"Is this the otherworld?"
Except for Chen Fan, everyone else wore expressions of complexity.
Soon after, the Floating Fortress reassembled into a massive mobile residence, and at that moment, the rest of the following troops began to appear.
—Various war monsters started to reveal themselves in this otherworld.
"Koro-sensei, go explore the surroundings and see if there are any human settlements!" Chen Fan looked at Monster Teacher. With its movement ability exceeding Mach 0, it could probably gather useful information in just a few blinks.
As Monster Teacher prepared to head out, Tony reached out to stop it with a smile. "Tentacle Monster, hold on. Let's shake off these tailgaters first before we slowly explore this world!"
Monster Teacher showed an understanding expression, and Chen Fan did not intervene. The iron-blooded aura of soldiers was not to his liking; keeping distance from these people was better. At least during critical moments, they wouldn't be caught off guard by 'accidental' artillery fire.
Only monsters could truly resonate with other monsters.
"Peter, would you like a glass of champagne?" Back in the hall that had transformed from the fortress, Monster Teacher pulled out a bottle of champagne from a corner cupboard. This was high-end stuff; it estimated that this bottle would cost no less than several hundred thousand dollars!
"Stark's wine!" Peter's eyes lit up.
Eighteen-year-old Big Boy was not yet of legal drinking age in America, but Peter knew that by the time one reached this age, they could do everything that was allowed!
"Give me a drink too!" Chen Fan slapped his face, feeling a bit fatigued. Even though he had just slept for three hours, the aftereffects of waking up early were not something that would disappear quickly.
"Chen Fan! You're only ten years old!" Monster Teacher exclaimed, eyes wide. What was he supposed to do if a ten-year-old wanted to drink?
Normally, a ten-year-old would be refused, but there was nothing normal about Chen Fan from start to finish.
His eyes sparkled, his hair crackled with electric energy, and even his fair arms were surrounded by a serpentine golden lightning. He looked like a deity descended into the mortal realm.
Chen Fan rolled his eyes. Could he really be considered nearly thirty with both of his lifetimes combined?
In the end, Monster Teacher succumbed to Chen Fan's gaze and reluctantly said, "You can only have one drink! No more than that!"
This was a failure on the part of the teacher. After handing Chen Fan a glass of champagne, Monster Teacher retreated to a corner, silently berating himself.
The scenery on the projected screen whizzed by. Under the cover of two artificial intelligences, the hidden System's Floating Fortress vanished from the sight of the approaching troops in an instant.
No matter how far the detection System spread, it could not find any trace of the Floating Fortress.
After more than ten minutes had passed, Monster Teacher, who had been lost in self-reproach, came back to life. Giggling and pointing at the image on the screen, Tentacle wriggled excitedly. "Look... there are train tracks!"
