“Ji Mei, can you focus for a moment? Those two fellows are definitely not here to see you; we might be in trouble,” Wei Chen said helplessly.
“You're the Demon Lotus Successor; surely you have a way to get me out of here? No matter how great the danger or how strong the enemy, can it compare to the crisis you faced when you deceived the Golden Armored Giant with the Destruction Demon Lotus?”
Hearing Ji Mei's words, Wei Chen's expression froze for a moment. Then his gaze darkened slightly as he replied, “How do you know about that?”
“I sensed it. Others can't feel it—like my father and Thunderstorm—they can't sense it, but I can. The aura on you is exactly like that of the Destruction Demon Lotus from back then,” Ji Mei said with a calm smile.
“Did you also melt a petal?”
Ji Mei nodded slightly and said, “Yes. Now that it's clear, we're on the same side. You don't need to doubt me anymore. I will do everything I can to help you, no matter what.”
Upon hearing this, Wei Chen looked at the encroaching Bohai King and East Sea King and smiled wryly. “Forget that for now; let's get through this immediate crisis first.”
Ji Mei nodded and looked at the approaching Bohai King and East Sea King. She called out loudly, “Bohai King, East Sea King, what a coincidence! You both have come to Unreturning Mountain as well?”
“East Sea King pays respects to the Princess!”
“Bohai King pays respects to the Princess!”
The Bohai King and East Sea King shouted in unison as they flew in from a hundred meters away, kneeling in mid-air before Ji Mei. Although they were nobles who ruled over their domains, they dared not act recklessly in front of royal descendants, especially someone as high-ranking as the First Princess.
Seeing the respect shown by Bohai King and East Sea King, Ji Mei glanced at Wei Chen with pride and whispered, “See? Bohai King and East Sea King are here to pay their respects to me. How could they possibly make trouble for us from the Sea Tribe? If they wanted to cause trouble, they would go after those Central Domain Human Race experts instead.”
“You're too naive,” Wei Chen replied lightly. A drop of blood quietly gathered in his palm; if Bohai King and East Sea King showed any sign of hostility, he would merge that drop of blood into a stone and take Ji Mei into the space within.
“Bohai King, East Sea King, I am looking for something here at Unreturning Mountain. If there’s nothing urgent, you may take your leave,” Ji Mei said calmly.
“Princess, could you please tell us what you are looking for? We currently have nothing to do and would be happy to assist you in your search,” the East Sea King said respectfully.
“It’s nothing; we can manage on our own,” Ji Mei replied with a frown.
“Princess, we are loyal to the Sea Tribe royal family. Your words, however, wound our pride,” the East Sea King remarked, a cold smile curling at the corners of his mouth.
Ji Mei finally sensed something was amiss. Was kneeling truly a sign of respect? The Bohai King and the East Sea King did not display genuine reverence; especially the East Sea King, who had begun to speak insolently.
“I command you to leave and stop making noise in front of me! Otherwise, once we exit the Penglai Secret Realm, I will have my father strip you of your titles!” Ji Mei narrowed her eyes and said coldly.
The Bohai King and the East Sea King exchanged glances, a hint of coldness appearing in their eyes. At this point, what else could they do but resort to violence?
“Old Fellow, stop worrying. Ji Pokong is definitely not here; otherwise, he would have already appeared.”
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s proceed according to plan!”
The feigned respect shown by the Bohai King and the East Sea King was merely an attempt to probe whether Ji Pokong was hiding nearby. Having received the answer they sought, a fierce glint appeared in their eyes as both moved in unison, charging fiercely at Wei Chen and Ji Mei!
A cold smile appeared on Wei Chen’s lips as he prepared a drop of blood that instantly merged into a stone.
The stone erupted with white light, an immense force pulling Wei Chen toward its interior. However, because one of his hands was holding Ji Mei’s hand, he realized with horror that he could not enter the Stone Space!
“Paralyzed! This is bad!”
In an instant, Wei Chen waved his hand and unleashed several strands of Soul Power. A short-distance spatial teleportation array was quickly set up. Grabbing Ji Mei, whose expression had changed drastically, he stepped into the array, and the two vanished, reappearing in a secluded area within the Not Returning to the Mountain Forest.
"Run!"
Wei Chen shouted, and the two massive wings of the Fire Phoenix Martial Soul spread wide open, flapping fiercely as he charged deeper into the Unreturning Mountain.
"It's just a Minor Technique. Heh, we're both at the eighth level of the Earth Soul Realm. No matter how you play, you won't escape our grasp!"
"Chase!"
Bohai King and East Sea King no longer held back, pursuing Wei Chen and Ji Mei relentlessly.
Both Bohai King and East Sea King were formidable at the eighth level of the Earth Soul Realm, their strength overwhelming and their speed astonishing. Even as Wei Chen desperately infused his wings with Soul Power, it was futile; they quickly caught up to him.
Two powerful gusts of palm wind surged toward Wei Chen and Ji Mei.
Wei Chen hurriedly tilted his wings to evade, but one of his wings was struck by the Palm Power, leaving a visible gash.
The phantom of his wing in the air gradually dimmed, and that gash expanded, consuming Wei Chen's entire wing into nothingness.
Wei Chen retracted his remaining wing, grabbing Ji Mei as they fled desperately through the dense forest.
"Ji Mei, do you still think Bohai King and East Sea King are here to pay you a visit? Damn it, I've really messed up this time. Their strength is too overwhelming; how could we possibly escape?"
As Wei Chen ran while cursing, Ji Mei realized they had been too arrogant. With Bohai King and East Sea King intent on killing them in the Penglai Secret Realm, what chance did she have to resist? Even if they had started running at the first sight of Bohai King and East Sea King, it would have made little difference; their strength was far too low to contend with them!
The speed of those at the eighth level of the Earth Soul Realm was not something those in the Surge Realm could compare to.
The Bohai King and the East Sea King wore cold smiles on their faces, not fully pursuing their targets but hovering above Wei Chen and Ji Mei, occasionally launching punches and palm strikes that left Ji Mei and Wei Chen in a state of chaos.
They could have killed them with a single blow, but memories of being suppressed by the Ji Family Royal Clan stirred a desire for torture within them; they did not want Ji Mei to die easily.
After running for more than ten miles, Wei Chen and Ji Mei were both heavily injured, black blood oozing from the corners of their mouths, looking utterly disheveled.
"Ji Mei, didn't your father give you any treasures for self-defense?"
"Yes!" Ji Mei nodded as she ran. "My father gave me a Sword Qi Slash, but it can only kill one person. What about the other?"
"Kill one first!" Wei Chen replied coldly.
Ji Mei nodded and her figure suddenly flashed into the air. The East Sea King immediately pursued her, while the Bohai King charged at Wei Chen.
"You old dog, do you really think you can kill me?" Wei Chen scoffed, his figure vanishing from the spot, leaving behind a pitch-black stone.
Without Ji Mei "holding him back," he was able to easily enter the Stone Space.
The Bohai King picked up the stone and squeezed it with all his might, but it didn’t budge at all. He tried several more times, horrified to find that the stone was incredibly hard; no matter what method he used—even employing a powerful Soul Technique—he could not move that stone.
"What the hell is this? It's paralyzed!" The Bohai King tucked away the stone and flew into the air, looking towards the East Sea King.
The East Sea King lunged at Ji Mei, just as he was about to seize her, the Bohai King was horrified to see a powerful sword aura suddenly erupt from Ji Mei's hand!
That sword aura was none other than Ji Pokong's strongest sword energy!
The Cracking Sword Aura!
Silent and deadly!
Bohai King watched as the East Sea King's body was cleaved in half by that sword aura, instantly dead beyond any hope of revival.
"Bohai King, did you kill Wei Chen?"
Ji Mei held a hairpin in her hand, the intense sword energy swirling around it, while another Cracking Sword Aura began to coalesce.
Feeling the terrifying sword energy, cold sweat broke out on Bohai King's forehead. He quickly spread his palms and explained, "Princess, spare me! I didn't kill that young man; he turned into a stone."
"Give it to me!" Ji Mei pointed the hairpin at Bohai King and said coldly.
Bohai King hurriedly threw the stone in his hand to Ji Mei, smiling obsequiously. "Princess, I was momentarily confused. It was all East Sea King's deception. I never intended to be your enemy! Please spare me! I will leave immediately and completely withdraw from the Penglai Secret Realm."
"Do you think I'm a fool? If I let you go, you'll just seek help elsewhere. What then? The Cracking Sword Aura can only be unleashed twice. You two dared to kill me; how could I possibly let you go? You have only two choices before you: death or surrender your soul and completely submit to me!"
Ji Mei concealed the stone in her sleeve and coldly regarded Bohai King.
The Cracking Sword Aura was Ji Pokong's most powerful sword energy; for anyone below the sixth level of the Soul Realm, a single sword aura could slay them without any room for negotiation. It was Ji Mei's lifeline, but even with Ji Pokong's formidable strength, he could not condense two sword auras within that hairpin. After ten years of hard work, he had only managed to compress and condense two sword auras—one given to Ji Mei and the other to the First Prince.
The outsiders were unaware of the internal situation. The Bohai King watched as the torrent of sword energy surged from the hairpin, feeling a deep sense of dread that extinguished any thought of resistance.
At this moment, if he were to directly attack Ji Mei, she would have no means to defend herself.
But faced with the overwhelming might of the sword energy, how could Bohai King dare to move?
Just then, Wei Chen suddenly appeared beside Ji Mei, and the stone was once again in his hand.
Seeing Wei Chen, Ji Mei's expression changed slightly as she asked, "You really turned into stone?"
"Uh... sort of," Wei Chen replied helplessly, nodding. It was complicated to explain, so he decided to just admit it.
Upon seeing Wei Chen, Bohai King's expression shifted again. He could hardly believe that the young human before him could truly transform into stone.
"Bohai King, now it's your turn to make a choice. Offer up a fragment of your soul and become my subordinate, and you can retain your title as a noble. In time, I can even expand your territory and make you the most powerful noble. All of this requires only a fragment of your soul."
Hearing Ji Mei's words, Bohai King's face turned ashen as he bitterly smiled to himself: "A fragment of my soul is not something so simple. If I truly do that, wouldn't I be under Ji Mei's control for life? If she wants me to live, I live; if she wants me to die, I die."
The Soul Control Technique was a profound secret art of the Sea Tribe. Normally, even the Sea Demon Emperor Ji Pokong would not use such a technique to control his subordinates. But with Bohai King intent on killing, and with no other options available, Ji Mei could only resort to the Soul Control Technique to subdue him.
Bohai King's face twisted in struggle and conflict; life or death hung by a thread in his mind.
