The Philippine Sea is a vast expanse of water within the South Sea Region, marking the boundary of the South Sea and the end of the Endless Sea.
Throughout history, even the Sea Emperors have been unaware of the true size of the Philippine Sea. If anyone were to discover its actual area, they would also uncover the limits of the Endless Sea.
In the minds of the South Sea Clan, the Endless Sea is infinite, and thus, so is the area of the Philippine Sea.
No one knows just how large the Philippine Sea truly is, nor does anyone know the strength of its East Sea King, Philippe King.
Even Sea Emperor Nanfeng can only speculate about it all.
Within the South Sea Region, the most powerful figure is undoubtedly Sea Emperor Nanfeng. However, beneath him are two prominent East Sea Kings, who also wield considerable influence. When the South Sea Tribe first emerged, they were collectively referred to as the Three Great Sea Clans, all recognized as East Sea Kings. Over time, however, Nanfeng's faction grew stronger and suppressed the other two sea tribes, establishing itself as the Nanfeng family under the title of Sea Emperor.
The other two East Sea Kings are nominally subservient to Nanfeng's rule; in reality, they do not heed his commands and often act in defiance. There is little that Sea Emperor Nanfeng can do about it.
The incident involving Lynn Luyao was indeed orchestrated by Philippe King. In previous times, this would have gone unnoticed by Nanfeng. However, due to Wei Chen's request for an investigation, the Sea Emperor ordered an inquiry that quickly uncovered leads indicating Philippe King's ulterior motives.
With Wei Chen present, perhaps there was an opportunity to venture into the Philippine Sea?
Sea Emperor Nanfeng looked at Wei Chen with eager anticipation, hoping for a favorable response.
As expected, Wei Chen did not disappoint him. He nodded and said, "Let's go to the Philippine Sea. I won't leave without clarifying this matter."
Wei Chen's agreement brought joy to Sea Emperor Nanfeng. If he had to face the Philippine Sea alone, he would have hesitated.
After all, Philippe King's influence is formidable. Should a conflict erupt between their two great factions, it would result in catastrophic losses for the entire Southern Region. With Wei Chen by his side, there exists a possibility of resolving matters without bloodshed. Perhaps they could leverage Wei Chen's Mental Strength to overpower Philippe King and bring him fully under the banner of the Sea Emperor's faction.
This was Nanfeng's hope; he had calculated well. Whether it could be executed successfully would depend on circumstances at that moment. Plans often fail to keep up with changes; no matter how many strategies one devises now, they could all fall apart with even a slight twist of fate.
Nanfeng did not wish to engage in such uncertainties; his principle was not to make reckless plans but rather to take things one step at a time.
Taking one step at a time is not a sign of helplessness or compromise, but rather a commendable attitude towards life. Some people prefer to plan everything meticulously, only to become frustrated and angry when things do not go as expected. Others, however, are content to go with the flow, making steady progress with each step they take.
Both attitudes have their advantages and disadvantages; neither is inherently better than the other.
As night fell, Sea Emperor Nanfeng settled Wei Chen, Demon Lotus Emperor, and Lynn Luyao in the best guest rooms on South Sea Island, treating them with the utmost hospitality.
In the deep of night, Wei Chen set up a Mental Strength barrier in his room. Anyone attempting to eavesdrop would be detected immediately.
Wei Chen and Demon Lotus Emperor gathered to negotiate some matters.
"Demon Lotus Emperor, what are your thoughts on the Philippine Sea?" Wei Chen asked, looking at him calmly.
Demon Lotus Emperor replied, "I've heard some rumors but don't know much. I only know that among the Four Great Sea Clans, there are actually subdivisions. The Four Great Sea Clans are not a united front, let alone the entire Sea Tribe. In the Demon Realm, whether it's humans or Sea Tribe members, if they unite, they can defeat their opponents completely. However, being human means there will always be selfish motives; true unity is nearly impossible."
"In the South Sea Region, there are three major sea areas. Sea Emperor Nanfeng governs the most prosperous one, which is strong and well-defended. The other two Sea Tribes are relatively small; one is only one-fifth the size of what Sea Emperor Nanfeng controls and poses no significant threat. I imagine Sea Emperor Nanfeng does not regard them highly. However, another area known as the Philippine Sea is vast—its exact size is difficult to determine because its end leads into the Endless Sea, which has no end."
"In the Philippine Sea, only a small portion is inhabited by the Sea Tribe. Therefore, its overall strength is far inferior to that of the Sea Tribe under Sea Emperor Nanfeng's control. Yet because the Philippine Sea has no boundaries, even though survival conditions there are harsh, once the Sea Tribe members escape to the depths of the Endless Sea, there’s little that Sea Emperor Nanfeng can do about it. This allows the tribes in the Philippine Sea to survive and maintain decent strength while often defying Sea Emperor Nanfeng's will."
"Over thousands of years of his reign, there have been two large-scale campaigns against the Philippine Sea that ultimately returned empty-handed. He was even forced to sign a non-aggression pact with them. The tribes under Sea Emperor Nanfeng cannot invade the Philippine Sea; similarly, those from the Philippine Sea cannot cause trouble on his territory."
"This state of peace has lasted for quite some time now, but Sea Emperor Nanfeng is an ambitious individual who will not sit idly by in such circumstances."
Demon Lotus Emperor shared everything he knew in one breath. He held nothing back from Wei Chen.
Wei Chen found it strange that someone from Hua Xia World—at most a Nine Immortal Realm individual—could have such detailed knowledge about conditions in the Demon Realm.
Looking at Demon Lotus Emperor curiously, Wei Chen said lightly, "Demon Lotus Emperor, how do you know so much? Don’t tell me this information came from your time in Nine Immortal Realm; you couldn’t possibly have paid that much attention to matters in the Demon Realm back then."
"Of course not! I never claimed I learned this while in Nine Immortal Realm!"
Demon Lotus Emperor cast a sharp glance at Wei Chen and calmly said, "No matter where you are, you must first understand the situation of that place to survive better. You may not grasp this yet, but I hope you will learn slowly. You have already begun to think like someone in a higher position, but what you lack now is survival experience. You believe your experience is rich, but in the eyes of those who know better, you still have a long way to go."
Demon Lotus Emperor delivered a vivid lesson to Wei Chen. Yet, Wei Chen found it quite useful and had no power to refute it; he didn’t even want to argue. He deeply understood that everything Demon Lotus Emperor said was the truth.
"Alright, I get it. I'll take my time," Wei Chen said, looking intently at Demon Lotus Emperor, determined to uncover the details.
Demon Lotus Emperor smiled and replied, "Before coming here, I had an extensive conversation with your grandfather; everything I know comes from him. As for the dangers of your trip to Endless Sea, your grandfather has calculated it very clearly: it’s not dangerous at all, or rather, it’s almost devoid of danger. The relationship between Sea Emperor Nanfeng's Sea Tribe in the South Sea Region and the Black Magic Clan is not as bad as one might think. In fact, both your grandfather and Sea Emperor Nanfeng are eager to meet each other; it's just that neither dares to take that step onto the other's territory."
"Then why did my grandfather oppose my coming here so strongly?"
"Your grandfather doesn’t want you to face any danger, even if it's minimal. Do you understand?"
Demon Lotus Emperor looked seriously at Wei Chen; everything was laid out before him, and now it was up to Wei Chen to choose his path.
Wei Chen nodded and smiled wryly. "My grandfather truly means well. However, I have my own plans for what I do. He wants me to be a flower in a greenhouse, but can I really do that? Doing so would only lead me to become increasingly despondent; it would be meaningless. If I don’t venture out into the world, I'd rather die—what's the point of living?"
Demon Lotus Emperor shook his head. "But are you really venturing out now? You have inherited the Mental Strength of the Soul Beast Mountain Ruler; your Mental Strength is unmatched in the entire demon realm. How much training can you actually gain from that?"
"That's true," Wei Chen admitted with a bitter smile. He understood what Demon Lotus Emperor meant: relying on Mental Strength to overpower others held little training value—aside from superficial fame, he gained nothing.
Yet Wei Chen also knew his Warrior Realm had its strengths; among his peers, he was quite formidable. However, compared to those who had cultivated for thousands of years, what did his peak Holy Demon Realm amount to?
In the demon realm, people could easily live for thousands of years due to natural laws governing lifespan. As they aged and accumulated cultivation time—even those without strong innate abilities could reach the peak of Holy Demon Realm. It wasn't just about fighting those stronger than him; even against seasoned peak Holy Demon Realm warriors, their understanding of magic was superior—at least better than Wei Chen's rapid rise in strength.
Thus, it became clear that Wei Chen couldn't even defeat those ordinary older peak Holy Demon Realm warriors.
Simply relying on his Warrior Realm meant he truly couldn’t overpower anyone; he was unable to crush anyone beneath him.
Aside from the overwhelming advantage of Mental Strength, did he have any other options?
There were none.
Yet he was acutely aware of the drawbacks. Victories achieved through Mental Strength did not bring him any substantial progress, and that was an unfortunate reality.
Under the reminder of the Demon Lotus Emperor, Wei Chen found himself in a dilemma. Should he continue to crush his enemies with Mental Strength, or attempt to battle them using the Magic Realm?
In truth, Wei Chen had no room for choice. Facing opponents who had reached the twenty-second level, those who had cultivated the Seven Emotions and Six Desires Realm, was it not akin to courting death to engage them in combat using the Magic Realm?
After going in circles, he returned to the essence of the matter: he still had to rely on Mental Strength to overpower his foes...
If that was the case, then the Demon Lotus Emperor's words could be considered a whiteout.
However, at the very least, the Demon Lotus Emperor's words left a profound impression in Wei Chen's mind. If there were times when he could rely on his Warrior Realm to fight without resorting to Mental Strength, he would certainly prefer that.
Wei Chen understood deeply that, ultimately, it was his own Warrior Realm that was lacking.
If only he could achieve the Seven Emotions and Six Desires Realm sooner, things would be much easier.
His greatest advantage lay in the fact that as long as his Magic Realm kept pace and his power levels aligned, he could engage in combat using his swordsmanship without expending excessive energy on cultivating martial skills within the Magic Realm.
