Meng Dao looked quite confused. "Officer, why did you ask me here? There are more people coming and going because of the Television Arts Festival, but how do you know she is related to our festival? Besides, I don’t know every actor and guest here." 0

The male police officer replied, "We found a temporary Work Permit on the deceased. Can you see if it belongs to you?" He pulled out a blue Work Permit. 0

Wait!? This looks exactly like the one I have. Meng Dao took it and glanced at it, then said, "This is indeed a temporary Work Permit, mainly issued for those who need to enter and exit temporarily. Ah, this one belongs to that People's Liberation Army Comrade over there." 0

Upon hearing this, all three police officers, including Ah Huang, turned to look at my chest. I quickly took down my badge and handed it to Ah Huang. Ah Huang compared the two permits side by side, his expression suddenly changed. He looked up at me seriously and asked, "This is a special pass issued for you! Did you bring this woman in?" 0

What?! Are you kidding me!? I hurriedly replied, "I don’t know about that. All I know is that the production team only gave us 41 passes, one for each person. Everyone is right here. The passes are hanging around our necks; you can check them. By the way, the passes were issued by that White-haired Comrade over there; you should ask him." 0

Everyone turned their attention to the White-haired Comrade. At this moment, he couldn’t take it anymore and rushed over, grabbing the male police officer's hand in panic. "It’s my fault! It’s my fault! I’m so stupid! I got a temporary Work Permit for that girl just to show off! I didn’t kill anyone!" 0

He then turned to plead with Meng Dao, "Meng Dao! Meng Dao! You know me; I wouldn’t have the guts to do that! I was just bragging; I brought the girl to see the show." 0

Meng Dao shook off his hand in disgust. "You need to talk to the Officer! Don’t waste my time!" After saying that, he greeted Ah Huang and walked away to arrange for the evening's work. 0

It seemed that the deceased was indeed that girl named Eagerly from last time. I sighed inwardly; such a young and vibrant life gone too soon. At this moment, Ah Huang signaled to two comrades with his eyes, and they escorted the White-haired Comrade toward a glass wall on one side. I quickly followed and caught up with Ah Huang, whispering, "Hey, looking at you like this, are you in charge now? How have things been with Moya lately? You haven’t reached out to us; are you thriving in both career and love?" 0

Ah Huang's face turned slightly red as he stopped walking. "Old Wang, don’t joke around. Moya went on a business trip recently and hasn’t returned yet. I'm currently acting as Vice Captain; work has been a bit busy, so I haven’t had time to contact you guys. You don’t mind, do you?" 0

"Oh, is that so!" Hearing that Ah Huang was acting Deputy Captain of the Criminal Police Team made me happy for him. At such a young age, if he could drop the 'acting' title, his future would be bright. 0

Thinking of this, I leaned closer and said to him, "You should keep an eye on that White-haired Comrade; last time I was here, I saw him bring your deceased in." 0

"I heard them talking; it seems they didn’t know each other before. The White-haired Comrade volunteered to bring her to see the show. Last night there was also a Japanese guy involved who took the girl away midway; it seems like the White-haired Comrade wasn’t happy about it afterward." 0

"Japanese?" Ah Huang repeated this with a frown. 0

Suddenly, Ah Huang pulled out a business card from his bag. "Is this the Japanese guy? This was found in the deceased's bag." 0

I took a glance at it; fortunately, it had a Chinese name: Bu Shang Qiu He. I shook my head and said, "I don’t know if this is the person." After looking at the team again, I continued, "Since I'm free anyway, if it's convenient for you, I'll follow along later and see if I can help you out. Just wait for me while I settle my team." 0

Ah Huang's face lit up with joy. "Old Wang, it would be great if you could help! It would be even better if you could take me to find that Japanese guy. I want to clarify what he and the white-haired person were up to last night." 0

I nodded and quickly ran toward the assembly point for the team, designated a responsible person, outlined a few requirements, and then instructed everyone to disperse. I hurried back to where Ah Huang and the others were. 0

At that moment, the two police officers were taking statements from the white-haired individual, while Ah Huang was closely observing him. I approached Ah Huang and gave him a light tap on the shoulder. He nodded in response and said, "Once we finish taking statements, I'll have a colleague follow the white-haired guy to gather witness accounts and see if his story checks out. Meanwhile, we can look around to see if we can find that Japanese guy." 0

"Sounds good. I remember he sought out the director yesterday; it seems like the director knows him, so finding him shouldn't be too difficult. By the way, you need to give me a rough overview of the situation." 0

Ah Huang acknowledged with an "oh" and succinctly described the case: the body was discovered by a cleaner this afternoon while cleaning up, located in an inconspicuous corner of the underground garage on the third level, which is the lowest floor. The body has already been moved to the police station for an autopsy by forensic experts. However, preliminary estimates suggest that death occurred between 1 AM and 2 AM today. There were no obvious external injuries on the deceased, and the cause of death is still unclear. The victim's belongings, including money and a mobile phone, were still present, indicating it likely wasn't a robbery gone wrong. Additionally, there was a temporary work permit left by the deceased. Ah Huang and his team had just parted ways with the forensic experts and were preparing to follow leads based on this temporary work permit while waiting for the report; they happened to run into me. 0

After listening, I pondered for a moment and asked, "Have you sent someone to retrieve surveillance footage?" Ah Huang replied, "I've already dispatched two colleagues to check various surveillance recordings at the Security Department; we should have results soon. We've agreed to meet at the Security Department later to discuss this matter with the head of security from the television station as well." 0

At this point, it seemed that the white-haired individual had finished giving his statement. The two police officers brought him over again, and Ah Huang fixed his gaze on him. "The consequences of providing false testimony are severe; do you understand?" 0

"Yes, I understand! I won't make anything up; I truly didn't kill anyone. I've recounted my experience from last night in detail," he insisted. 0

"Good. The government won't wrongfully accuse an innocent person. Take him to find witnesses to verify his statement." Surprisingly, Ah Huang was starting to show signs of leadership; I silently praised him. 0

After they left, Ah Huang turned to me. "Let's go ask the director about that Japanese guy; hopefully, he's not involved in this matter because that would complicate things." I nodded in agreement; after all, foreign criminal cases are always troublesome—especially when they involve a Japanese individual—as we made our way back toward Meng Dao on stage. 0

Seeing us approach again, Meng Dao appeared somewhat impatient. "Officer, what else do you need? I'm quite busy right now; in a little while, we'll start makeup rehearsals!" 0

"It won't take long," Ah Huang replied calmly. "Meng Dao, I've heard there's a Japanese investor participating in the arts festival; what's going on with that?" 0

"Oh, you want to know about him? This Japanese guy is here as an investor—his name is Bu Zhi Qiu He—and he's planning to invest in a large shopping mall downtown called Heiwa Hall or something like that. He's been asking for advertising placements here; that's about it." 0

"Is that all?" 0

"That's all I know; I've handed over those details to the advertising liaison department since I'm not too concerned about them," the director shrugged. 0

"Will he be coming tonight? Also, do you have any contact information for him?" I interjected. 0

"Tonight, he will definitely come. They have finished the advertisement, and he needs to see the results in person. You can contact Assistant Jun over there later," Meng Dao pointed in a direction. I looked over and saw several staff members sitting at a desk piled with computers, but I couldn't tell which one was Assistant Jun. 0

"Old Wang, let's wait for him to arrive and then ask him!" Ah Huang said to me. 0

"No!" I suddenly turned to Ah Huang. "We need to check the surveillance first!" 0

"Why?" 0

"We should get a general idea of the situation first. Once we grasp some facts, we can ask Japanese. That way, we'll know if he's hiding anything, and if necessary, we can catch him off guard." I said with a cold smile. 0

"You’re ruthless!" Ah Huang clicked his tongue and turned to lead the way to the elevator. "The Security Department is on the third floor; we need to take the elevator down." 0

When we reached the elevator, Ah Huang stood on my right and pressed the button while I waited by the doors. With a light ding, the elevator doors opened, and two or three girls rushed out. One of them bumped into me with a surprised gasp. 0

"It’s you!" We both exclaimed simultaneously upon recognizing each other. 0
