"Hey, I mean, let's find a handsome guy to try with Liu Qi and see what happens when they interact. I want to use this to determine what connection these missing persons cases have with her."
"Hmm?" Ah Huang pondered thoughtfully.
"I'm just making a personal suggestion! But really, it could be worth considering, Ah Huang. At the very least, we might discover something special about Liu Qi or her social connections through observation. We could find out why she frequently visits bars by getting up close."
"I'll think about it," Ah Huang said, falling into deep thought.
Half an hour later, in Ah Huang's office.
"What about this one?" Ah Huang pointed at a seemingly sharp and capable candidate in front of me.
"Pass, not even 180!"
"You’re done here, go on, call the next one!" Ah Huang replied helplessly.
He turned to me and said, "That's three already! You've seen all the younger guys I have! The next one is the last chance; if this doesn't work, we're out of options. Ugh, do I really have to be so picky? I'm just sending someone to get close to her and test her out; it's not a beauty pageant!"
"Brothers, you’ve never seen a Nightclub Queen in action, have you? If they’re short or unattractive, they won’t even give them the time of day! Look at Old Bi; he’s not bad-looking, but he’s not 180 either, and they still turn him away!"
"Hey! Listen to yourself! So you want to pick and choose? Are we a modeling agency here? Who gets to decide who goes and who doesn’t?" It was no wonder Ah Huang was frustrated; I was stepping on his turf while carrying out his duties. I wouldn’t be happy either.
"Brothers, can we skip the complaints? Who decided on the close observation of Liu Qi? Who just swore they would crack the case? Trust me, I've run into Liu Qi at the nightclub before. If you send someone based on your criteria, they won't even get close to her!"
Ah Huang plopped back down in his chair. "Fine! It's all your fault for egging me on! I brought this on myself!"
"Report!" Someone knocked on the door.
"Come in!" Ah Huang replied irritably.
The door swung open, and a tall, imposing young police officer stepped inside. "Yellow Team!" he stood at attention and announced.
"This is Tian, my junior by two years. He just graduated and joined my team," Ah Huang introduced.
"Oh!" I sized up Tian. I couldn't tell his height exactly, but he was definitely taller than me. With his handsome features, if he weren't in uniform, he could easily be mistaken for an actor rather than a police officer.
"How's it going?" Ah Huang asked dully.
"How tall are you?" I inquired.
"Report, I'm 178 centimeters tall!" Tian declared with a proud chest and a loud voice.
"I think he's good enough; let's go with him!"
"Is that okay? Didn't you say no one under 180 has a chance?"
"What the hell! You're too rigid. Can't you just wear shoes?" Ah Huang retorted.

After explaining the situation and assigning tasks to Tian, he finally understood why he was here. I asked him if he had ever been to a bar, and he shyly scratched his head, admitting that he had gone with classmates during breaks at the police academy.
I slapped my thigh and exclaimed, "That's settled then! It's not unfamiliar; once we get there, everything will be easy! I guess you’re about the same age. Hey, Ah Huang, give him a makeover to look like a rich kid."
Ah Huang shot me a glance.
"Go all out with the act," I chuckled.
Ah Huang ignored me and went on to explain the requirements to Tian in detail.
Ah Huang meant to send someone to keep an eye on Liu Qi, tracking where she went and who she interacted with. When she headed out to the bar, Tian would be sent in to test her.
Ah Huang preferred to take matters into his own hands, insisting on personally monitoring Liu Qi. After sending Tian to prepare, we had lunch at the criminal police team’s cafeteria at 4 PM.
As soon as we finished eating, they wouldn’t even let me take a nap. Ah Huang drove me to a spot near Liu Qi's shop.
We parked the car on the roadside not far from Liu Qi's shop, just close enough to see what was happening inside. After stopping the car, Ah Huang began changing clothes right there in the vehicle.
I looked around aimlessly and noticed something interesting: our car happened to be parked right next to the fortune teller's stall from that night.
The old man spotted us too, especially when he saw Ah Huang in his police uniform. He panicked and started packing up his things to leave.
I chuckled and rolled down the window, calling out, "Hey, Master, why are you so flustered? Can’t you see? It’s just the police, not the city management!"
Upon hearing this, the old man paused and took a closer look. He sighed in relief and plopped back down onto his seat.
"You scared me! You’re really a police officer?!" he asked, looking up at us.
I smiled faintly, not giving a clear answer. "Investigating?"
"Shh, don't disturb us!" Ah Huang, now dressed, turned around to warn.
The old man fell silent and withdrew his head.
According to the schedule, Liu Qi's shop opened at 9 AM and closed at 7 PM. So, we spent the entire afternoon waiting by the roadside. Aside from taking turns to use the restroom, stretch our legs, and buy food, we just sat in the vehicle doing nothing.
In the end, Liu Qi never came out until the shop closed for the night. From a distance, I saw her leaving with a girl who worked at the shop to tidy up. Then they went back inside, and the girl pulled down the shutter and locked it.
It seemed that no one special came looking for her today. The customers entering were mostly pet owners seeking treatment or passersby browsing inside.
Whitened and Fortune Teller stayed for quite a while but yielded no results. In fact, even the old man had better luck; he managed to read fortunes for two people and earned 200 yuan. Honestly, that was more than our wages!
Ah Huang was also frustrated as he drove me back to the base. When I got out of the car, he asked me to join him again tomorrow.
I thought to myself, really? Am I supposed to spend my holiday in this vehicle?
I initially didn't want to agree but considered having him find a few agents to keep an eye on things instead of going myself.
Yet, feeling embarrassed about declining, I resolved to go along tomorrow. If it became unbearable, I could always come up with another excuse not to go. Sigh, it was all my fault; why did I suggest this in the first place?
The next morning, Ah Huang called me early. After breakfast, we drove to Liu Qi's shop again.
Fortune Teller still hadn't arrived.
I couldn't help but chuckle to myself; our surveillance was far too diligent, even more so than during a workday.
The morning passed just like yesterday, without any abnormalities.
By the afternoon, Liu Qi stepped out.
Hmm, this time of day isn't typical for heading to a bar, and she certainly didn't look like she was going to one—she hadn't dressed up at all.
She hailed a taxi and got in, heading off in the opposite direction, completely unaware of us.
Ah Huang closely followed behind, trailing her all the way until Liu Qi got out of the car.
We looked up and laughed; this was interesting—it was an old haunt!
Wait, what place?
City Second Mental Health Rehabilitation Hospital.
When Ah Huang and I first met, we had passed through a sleepwalking murder case, one of the suspects being a doctor from this hospital.
We had been here before.
Ah Huang and I exchanged glances. Why would Liu Qi come here?
"Get out, let's follow her," Ah Huang said. "I'll find a place to park; you hurry."
"Me?"
"Of course, you go first. I'll follow shortly. Just keep an eye on her, but don't get too close," Ah Huang urged.
"You think I'm your subordinate?" I muttered as I unbuckled my seatbelt, pushed open the car door, and hurried inside.
Fortunately, Liu Qi was moving slowly. By the time I entered the lobby, she was still at the registration desk.
I quickly hid behind a pillar to observe.
I saw her take a registration slip and head up to the second floor.
I hurriedly followed her.
Once on the second floor, I turned right and saw Liu Qi walk into an Emergency Room. After she entered, I pretended to pass by and glanced in; it was a Psychiatric Clinic.
Hmm? What is she doing at this clinic?
After circling around, I returned to the stairway on the second floor and found the list of attending specialists on the wall—Professor Qin.
Just as I was looking at his profile, a commotion erupted behind me.
I turned to see a young girl tugging at Ah Huang. "You pervert! You bumped into me on purpose!"
Ah Huang stood on the steps, only seven or eight steps away from me, looking anxious and helpless. "I'm in a hurry, I'm sorry! It wasn't intentional."
The woman was coming down the stairs, stubbornly holding onto Ah Huang and refusing to let him go.
After a tense standoff, Ah Huang impatiently pulled out his badge and waved it in front of her. "I'm a police officer! I'm here on official business!"
A few onlookers who had been watching the scene turned their attention upon hearing he was a police officer. Even a Cleaner who happened to be going upstairs paused a few steps above Ah Huang, glancing back at him before slowly walking past me.
As soon as the woman heard he was a police officer, she hurriedly descended the stairs without saying another word.
Ah Huang quickly made his way up. "Where did Liu Qi go?"
"That way, towards the Psychiatric Clinic," I said, pointing in the direction where the Cleaner had just walked.
"Do you want to go check it out?" I asked.
"Not for now; let's observe first."
I watched as the Cleaner turned and entered the Psychiatric Clinic. I tapped Ah Huang on the shoulder. "There it is, the one that Cleaner just went into."
"Do you know which doctor it is?"
"Professor Qin, it's written right here," I replied.
"Alright, let's find a place to wait. We can't stay here."
Ah Huang and I moved to a spot further away from the staircase, where we could still see the Psychiatric Clinic in the distance.
About twenty minutes later, the Cleaner came out first, and less than half an hour later, Liu Qi also emerged, her expression calm.
She slowly made her way down the stairs. Ah Huang hesitated for a moment before quickly making a decision. "This is the car key! Here, I remember you can drive. Follow her and see where she goes." Ah Huang handed me the car key.
"What about you? I can drive, but I don't have a license! What if I get pulled over by the police?" I panicked.
"I'll go find the on-duty doctor to ask about the situation! You go follow her; you know how to follow someone, right? This job doesn't require any special skills, it's perfect for you. Don't worry, if you drive normally, who would check you? The chances are low!"
"What if I do get pulled over?" I pressed on.
"As long as you don't get into an accident, if they stop you, they stop you. I have Brothers in traffic enforcement! Hurry up! Liu Qi is about to leave the outpatient hall!" Ah Huang pushed me forward and quickly walked toward the Psychiatric Clinic.
