Wow!
The monster let out a piercing scream, its sharp claws viciously lunging toward his eyes.
But Xiar looked at it with a smile as it attacked, an invisible barrier appearing to thwart its efforts, causing it to crash back and hurt its claws.
"Baby, you're quite the troublemaker," Xiar chuckled, reaching out to tug at a tuft of fur on its head.
This monster was the same one that had nearly taken him down earlier. At that time, he had just arrived and had no idea how formidable it would be; he had come perilously close to becoming its meal.
Three guards and two hunters had been dispatched by it, and if not for Firefly's timely appearance, Xiar would not have survived!
But now, the power dynamic had completely reversed. This beast, once terrifying in the eyes of mortals, was no stronger than a chicken in his hands.
Standing up, the creature looked quite peculiar. It resembled a three- or four-year-old child but was covered in shimmering silver scales that glinted in the sunlight.
It had a black, pointed beak like an eagle's, and its limbs and claws were reminiscent of a monkey's but much sharper. On its back was a thick Armored Shell that resembled a turtle's shell.
Even more interesting was the tuft of silver hair on its head that looked like a bird's nest; it felt soft and damp, similar to seaweed.
Wow!
The monster struggled to escape but found itself helpless, only to be slammed down hard by Xiar. Before it could rise again, he kicked it back down.
With physical attributes far beyond those of an ordinary person, combined with the indestructible Guardian Spirit Light, he could easily overpower this non-human creature.
Ten minutes later, Xiar stretched his limbs and performed some simple stretches before squatting down with a grin. "Hehe, I hold no grudges at all. Do you dare to fight back?"
Wow!
The creature emitted a sound reminiscent of a child's cry, huddled against the tree roots, trembling all over. Its face, devoid of scales, was already swollen to an alarming degree.
It had endured brutal torment beyond imagination; its arms and legs had suffered severe trials, leaving it unable to escape.
Meow!
At that moment, the white fox rushed over from a distance. Upon seeing the creature, its eyes gleamed with ferocity as it prepared to pounce and scratch. The monster was so frightened that it curled up into a ball, shaking uncontrollably.
"Alright, let's give it a break," Xiar said after exhaling deeply, feeling much more at ease as he held back the eager Firefly.
He then took out the Colorful Puffball, and colorful light burst forth, enveloping the creature completely in an instant.
“White Spirit!”
A semi-transparent Interface appeared, revealing an image in the totem space below.
“Moonborn Beast: Special Totem, not yet Evolution, can be enhanced, Evolution success rate 80%, consumes Evolution Points 4;
Abilities: Absorb moonlight, strengthen, accelerate.”
How could the Evolution success rate be so high?
Xiar felt a bit surprised; previously, when Firefly became his Main Totem, the success rate was only 10%, and it still hadn't undergone Evolution.
“Never mind, I'll study it later. Let's give it a try now.”
He focused his thoughts on the “+” symbol, watching as his Evolution Points rapidly decreased. A layer of Grayish White energy enveloped the creature while he held onto Firefly, observing intently.
Wow!
The monster suddenly let out a loud roar, its less-than-one-meter-tall body explosively growing to over four meters, covered in layers of silver bone armor. A thick tail sprouted from behind, adorned with sharp spines, measuring over three meters in length.
Its hands transformed, resembling the claws of Wolverine from a sci-fi movie, as four gleaming silver dagger-like bone blades shot out.
The silver nest atop its head also expanded several times, turning into long, kelp-like appendages that waved in the wind behind it.
“Violent Moon Beast, Special Totem, Ultimate Evolution Body, can enhance Evolution success rate by 4%, consumes 16 Evolution Points;
Abilities: Moonlight Absorption, Killing Form, Super Strength, Underwater Breathing.”
After reading this, Xiar was astonished to find that its attributes seemed much better than Firefly's, possessing four skills right off the bat. Intrigued, he commanded, “Show me your strength.”
Roar!
The creature immediately let out a roar and charged toward a large tree behind it. With its sharp claws swinging, it created a silver light curtain that shattered the trunk of the tree in an instant!
Boom!
The tree, thick enough for a person to embrace, fell directly to the ground. Before it hit the ground, the monster leaped onto the trunk and sliced the entire tree into smooth timber before it could fully collapse!
Once the display was over, the massive creature over four meters tall shrank back down to its original size of less than one meter, looking thin and weak like a monkey.
Roar!
The transformed monster emitted a fearful sound and reluctantly shuffled closer to Xiar, clearly still remembering the earlier beating it had received.
“Wow, I didn’t expect the Killing Form to look like this. You really know how to play. Since you resemble a Kappa and can absorb moonlight power, I’ll call you Moon Child,” Xiar said with a smile.
This creature had an incredibly fearsome appearance when transformed—a ruthless beast that could kill without blinking. Yet with such a disguise, it was like a wolf donning sheep's clothing, turning into a docile lamb. No one would be overly wary of it; it was perfect for launching a surprise attack.
"Alright, come back with me," Xiar waved his hand, and the other followed closely behind him.
Firefly sat on his shoulder, asserting its status while continuously emitting soft, squirming sounds. Eventually, it jumped onto the bird's nest atop the other’s head.
Under Xiar's imposing presence, it dared not resist and allowed itself to be played with on its head.
Xiar found this amusing and quickly walked to the edge of the forest, taking a carriage back to the estate.
At the estate, Erin, who had been resting, quickly stood up and curiously examined the Moon Child behind him. "Xiar, is this another Evolved Grade Totem?"
"Yes, it's a Totem Beast that my teacher helped me capture a long time ago. It's just an ordinary Auxiliary Totem," Xiar casually replied, not mentioning any of its peculiarities.
"Oh, it looks quite silly and adorable," Erin said with a smile as she approached and reached out to touch the bird's nest on its head, finding it particularly interesting.
Firefly allowed no one but Xiar to touch it, making Erin watch enviously. The Totem Beast was obediently cute, rubbing against her palm in a way that felt pleasantly cool and smooth.
"Feel free to play with it; I have some research to conduct," Xiar said as he left Firefly and Moon Child with her and returned to the laboratory.
He had halted many biological dissection experiments and was now fully focused on drawing the Inheritance Factor, analyzing the inheritance codes contained within to deduce what paths of Evolution might be possible.
Every organism is a treasure trove, and the Inheritance Factor is the password lock to that trove. Once unlocked, it could lead to countless possibilities for Evolution, even achieving Super Evolution!
