Xiar paused for a moment, glancing at Erin who was walking over, and offered a warm smile as he shook her hand. "Hello, it's nice to meet you."
"Hehe, Xiar, this is Lyle, a student from Morent Academy, and she's one of the top students there. You might want to follow her around or try to win her over," Erin said with a teasing expression, casually pointing out Lyle's identity.
A student from Morent Academy?
Getting into this academy was relatively easy as long as one had the basic talent.
However, to become one of the top students, there was no exception; they all had exceptional qualities—assuming Lyle wasn't lying.
The girl had long white hair similar to his own and striking amber eyes. Her demeanor exuded an intellectual beauty, clearly indicating a deep reservoir of knowledge.
She stood slightly taller than Erin, around five feet six inches, and looked at his hair with curiosity. "White hair is quite rare. Is it natural?"
"No, it happened after an accident; I turned white all of a sudden," Xiar shrugged and smiled wryly.
While white hair looked cool, he found it somewhat unsettling, feeling as if he had aged prematurely.
"Oh, that's unfortunate," Lyle said without dwelling on it. She walked over to the railing and gazed out at the sea. "Sister Erin, since you're planning to study at the academy, may I ask what your major is?"
"For my major, I think it will be Inheritance Factor Interpretation and Bloodline Fusion; I'm most interested in those subjects," Xiar replied without hesitation.
Leslie had already explained many things about the academy to him, so he wasn't completely in the dark.
Lyle's expression turned surprised, and her tone became more friendly. "I didn't expect you to be like me! Junior, once we get there, I can look out for you. In the academy, I still have some influence."
"Sure thing, Senior! I'll appreciate your guidance," Xiar said with a smile, eagerly trying to build rapport as he climbed up along the railing.
Lyle—another familiar name that seemed far from ordinary for a mere Spirit Master!
Xiar's gaze flickered as he searched the vast Story Database, trying to find any related memories. However, the Story Database was too extensive, and he couldn't locate anything immediately, leaving it for another time.
The inability to find something right away implied that it likely had little to do with Fate's Seven; it was merely a relatively important background character.
"Is this your Main Totem?" Lyle asked curiously, eyeing the white fox perched on the railing beside him.
"Yes, a Moonlight Fox. I've been with her for a long time."
"What a coincidence! My Main Totem is also a fox. Want to see?"
A soft glow appeared in Lyle's hand, and a beautiful fox materialized between them.
This fox had blue fur, with its paws and tail in a creamy beige. Its eyes sparkled like rubies, but what was most striking was that it had three tails.
The tails were longer and more flowing than those of a Firefly, with the tips pure gold, exuding an air of nobility and elegance.
"Wow, so beautiful!" Erin exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she leaned closer to touch it.
Surprisingly, the Three-Tailed Fox did not shy away, prompting her to break into a silly grin. "Hehe, it's so smooth, soft, and comfortable!"
"Let me introduce you. This is my Main Totem, Nicole. She'll complete her Ultimate Evolution in about six months. What's your name?" A hint of pride appeared on Lyle's face; he was clearly pleased.
The relationship between a Main Totem and a Spirit Master was not merely one of master and servant; it resembled that of blood relatives. Therefore, all Spirit Masters would name their Main Totems and often engage in emotional exchanges with them during their free time.
"Firefly," Xiar replied.
After the Three-Tailed Fox appeared, White Fox Fire felt an urge to get closer but was also somewhat afraid, which made the situation particularly amusing for him.
The Three-Tailed Fox stood proudly, casting a disdainful glance at it, showing no intention of greeting.
This made Firefly feel a sense of grievance, and it jumped into his arms, burying its head in his pocket and refusing to come out.
"Hehe, don't worry. Once we get to the academy, as long as you work hard on your tasks, you can help it evolve quickly," Lyle said with a light chuckle, knowing full well the meaning behind the fox's actions after raising it for so long.
"I hope so. I've consumed a lot of resources for it, yet I still can't make it evolve," Xiar sighed. This had become a source of worry for him.
Without Firefly evolving, he couldn't become a Second-Level Spirit Master. Without becoming a Second-Level Spirit Master, he wouldn't be able to control the Ultimate Form, which would greatly diminish the effects of Colorful Puffball and Evolution Modulator.
"Don't worry. Morent Academy is the only Spirit Master Academy in this world. There are countless treasures there that can help totems evolve. It's the holy land for Spirit Masters, the cradle where countless strong individuals are born—a magnificent and transcendent city of dreams!"
Xiar could clearly see the desire and genuine affection in the other person's eyes as they spoke these words.
A yearning for truth and the future, a longing for beautiful dreams, and a deep-rooted love for the city that seemed to be etched into their very bones—a willingness to give everything for the unknown.
This was precisely the mindset of everyone associated with the academy, leading countless teachers and students to sacrifice their lives for that institution!
Morent!
Xiar couldn't help but utter this name, as if it possessed a strange magic that stirred excitement within him.
Now, I have arrived!
……………………
The journey was tedious and monotonous; even this massive ocean liner was no exception.
There were also some parties and dances on the ship, but Xiar was completely uninterested in them. To him, the superficiality of those gatherings made him feel somewhat nauseous.
Everyone wore false masks and exchanged clichéd pleasantries; it was far less enjoyable than chatting with Firefly. At least this adorable creature could easily lift his spirits.
During the long six-day journey, Lyle would come over to find them. Whenever they were bored, they would take out the deck of cards that Xiar used to pass the time, using it to entertain themselves.
The entertainment options in this world were quite monotonous. Nobles mostly engaged in poetry and music, complimenting each other, or participated in dances and hunts, watching performances similar to plays.
There were none of the rich and varied entertainment activities from his previous life, which made Xiar miss his beloved smartphone even more.
Every time he had a break, he would curl up at home with his phone in hand, completely uninterested in going out and suffering.
If given the chance, he could develop the entertainment industry in this world, bringing a cultural invasion from Flowering Family—too bad a world war was about to break out!
Xiar thought with some regret as time quickly passed amidst his daydreaming and leisure.
Toot toot!
The sound of the whistle echoed as he looked out the window to see an incredibly prosperous city—
Morent had arrived!
