What is the first impression a city can give you?
Even having seen it in futuristic images, nothing compares to the impact of witnessing it in person.
Towering skyscrapers stood in a row, the bustling urban scene hit him like a wave, making him feel as if he had returned to Demon City.
However, the giant beasts flying through the air, the lush vines crawling up the buildings, and the strange, monster-shaped vehicles moving along the streets made him realize that this was Morent, not Demon City.
Unlike the Demon City of his past life, Morent was a standard Academy City with a history spanning over a hundred years.
"A hundred years ago, the first principal, Gavin Rosa, designated this island as the location for the academy. Its total area is comparable to your imperial capital."
After disembarking from the steamship, they took a passenger boat for another hour before finally stepping onto the island where Morent was located. Leslie had urgent matters and left first, while Lyle acted as their guide, introducing them to the local customs and culture.
"The entire city centers around Morent Academy, with a population nearing 10 million. Eighty percent of the residents are connected to this academy—either students or their families and staff. Five percent possess Spirit Master abilities; this is the place where Spirit Masters are most concentrated in this world!"
The more Xiar listened, the more astonished he became. The Harrison Empire had a billion people, with the imperial capital being its largest city at less than five million residents, most of whom were ordinary civilians.
Yet in this city, various standards could easily be compared to those of his former Demon City. It boasted advanced technology decades ahead of the outside world and was already one of the top metropolitan areas—without question!
Most astonishingly, it was a city that had developed biotechnology to its utmost limits!
"This is the Totoro Public Transport Vehicle; you can just call it Totoro. It's a new form of transportation cultivated by the academy using Totoro as a Totem Beast. A couple of meals and a Source Crystal can satisfy its entire consumption."
Xiar and Erin stared blankly at the "vehicle" before them, an overwhelming sense of amazement flooding their minds.
There was no denying it; this vehicle was essentially a living creature that merely resembled a bus in appearance.
It had eight sturdy legs covered in yellowish-brown fur like that of an orange cat. Its interior was hollow, with two large eyes staring out at them, and a license plate hanging above its head—number 11.
"This... this... this is too amazing!" Erin transformed into a complete country bumpkin upon entering the city. She had already been awed by various sights on their way here and now stared wide-eyed at this peculiar vehicle.
Lyle chuckled softly to himself as if he had long since become accustomed to such sights. He nudged them both and said, "Don't hesitate; hurry up and get on! It won't eat you!"
"Oh, right!" The two quickly grabbed their things and climbed aboard.
"If you have a student ID, it's free. If not, it's one coin per ride. I'll cover this time, but don't forget to treat me to a meal later," Lyle said with a smile as he placed three coins into a golden box located at the front of the bus.
"The furry seats are amazing!" Erin exclaimed excitedly as she got on the bus, running her hands over the seats and leaning against the window to look outside.
What a terrifying piece of biotechnology!
Xiar couldn't help but marvel at it. The Totoro Bus was nearly ten meters long and had close to thirty seats inside. He wondered what kind of technology the academy had used to transform it.
The floor felt soft, as if covered by a thick carpet. The seats were also covered in fur, made from genuine leather and fur.
"Don't worry about it; the Totoro Bus gets a bath regularly, so it's very clean," Erin seemed to sense his doubts and explained cheerfully.
"Since you are brought here by Senior Leslie, the process will be much easier from now on. I'll take you to the currency exchange first, so you can swap your gold coins for Morent banknotes."
Morent had long since abolished its original gold coins, Copper Coins, and now used paper money and the cheapest iron coins, just like in his previous life.
"Thank you so much! Once I settle my things, I’ll definitely treat you to a meal," Xiar expressed his gratitude again.

"Morent Academy West Gate has arrived. Passengers please disembark."
At that moment, a clear voice rang out from the front of the bus, prompting the three of them along with their pet to hurry off.
The Totoro Bus moved gracefully and silently; sitting inside, they barely felt any bumps at all. It was far more comfortable than the buses Xiar had experienced in his previous life.
He saw the source of the sound, which appeared to be an insect resembling a cicada, quietly perched there. Every time they reached a platform, it would emit a prompt sound—an incredible feat of biological technology!
They followed the crowd to the entrance of the academy and discovered that the gate was equally lush, situated beneath the roots of a towering conifer.
This tree resembled a phoenix tree but stood nearly a hundred meters tall, with a trunk diameter estimated to exceed twenty meters. Its grandeur was astonishing, as people flowed beneath its roots like ants.
"The academy has eight gates, each guarded by such enormous trees. It is said that these trees are all Ultimate Plant Totems, possessing incredible power that can save the academy in times of danger. But that's just a legend; no one has ever seen them actually move," Lyle said, gazing up at the conifer with eyes full of curiosity.
"Indeed, an Ultimate Form wouldn't be this large," Xiar nodded in agreement.
In truth, he knew that these trees were indeed Ultimate Forms, and they were the highest tier of Ultimate Forms. When combined, the eight great trees could transform into a Super-Evolved Divine Tree, capable of battling countless Radiation Monsters!
Yet now, they stood quietly as ordinary trees.
At the currency exchange area, Xiar discovered that there was a banking system similar to that of his previous life; they even had bank cards, albeit in the form of wristbands.
