I hadn't fully processed what was happening when a gentle body wrapped around me, and a warm, moist mouth pressed fiercely against mine. The scent was familiar, intoxicating me quickly.
In a night filled with enchanting dreams, we ascended to mountain peaks and sank into valleys, the beautiful sensations rising higher with each wave. I almost wished to sleep forever.
When I awoke again, aside from the lingering fragrance beside me, my beloved was gone. I could feel the whispers of two souls entwined in desire, their mutual affection was undeniably real. But what did it matter?
It was early morning once more as I returned to my rented room through the thin mist. Just as I opened the door, a bag was thrown over my head, followed by a flurry of fists and heavy feet raining down on me.
The next time I regained consciousness, I found myself in a hospital bed with three broken ribs and a moderate concussion. The club covered all my expenses and promised me some money on the condition that I wouldn't report them to the police.
Once I recovered and was discharged, I behaved myself well. The old hag frequently visited the Heavenly Abode to indulge herself, all for Heidi.
One early morning, while heading to the bathroom, I unexpectedly saw the old woman pinning Heidi against the sink… Heidi seemed compliant and appeared to be enjoying herself. The look in her eyes was filled with triumph.
I sensed a plot brewing.
I borrowed Brother Xiong's car and followed the old hag's Hummer to the West Mountain villa. She had come to indulge again, this time bringing Sister Qiu along. They ordered a small package and specifically requested my service.
I entered with drinks, finding Sister Qiu sitting in the old hag's lap while an old man's hands roamed freely over her body. Heidi lit a cigarette for the old hag.
The bodyguard called for me to bring a fruit platter while Sister Qiu's clothes were being undone… The old hag's hands continued their movements as her eyes roamed over my face.
Heidi poured the wine beside me. The Old Hag's gaze was that of a hunter surveying its prey, looking down from a position of power. My heart felt as if it were being tossed about like a stormy sea, yet I maintained an air of extreme humility. I took the initiative to request an additional soup and two dishes for this private room.
The Old Hag, pleased with herself, called in two lackeys from the entrance to join us for the meal. Once they entered, it was time for me to clock out. The villa in the western part of the city was a good 25 kilometers away from Jiang City District. Beyond the West Third Ring Road lay the suburbs, and at around one in the morning, there were few pedestrians or vehicles on the road.
With so many traffic lights in the city, the Hummer couldn't go fast. In the urban-rural fringe, Sister Qiu was suddenly thrown out of the car, after which the Hummer sped away. Not long after accelerating out of the city, the massive vehicle began to sputter as if it were having an asthma attack—vrooming loudly before stalling again. After moving a few more meters, it made another loud noise before dying once more.
The chubby driver anxiously got out to check on the roadside. Suddenly, he collapsed as if drunk, and just as the thin man opened the car door, he too slumped down. The cap on his head fell over his eyes while a shared electric bike zipped past beneath him like an arrow.
The Old Hag tilted her head, slumped against Heidi in the back seat, both unconscious. I stripped all four of them down to their bare skin and stacked their clothes together like a tower. Then I took several photos with my phone before speeding away on the shared electric bike.
The online gossip news was quite scandalous. A Hummer with license plate Jiang A16888 was found parked by a secondary road, with three men and one woman naked and piled together; someone had reported it to the police. The identity of the car owner was quickly uncovered, leading to wild speculation: a Hong Kong businessman, a wealthy tycoon with his bodyguards, and a fallen woman—four people who had taken drugs and engaged in some sort of group game.
The car wasn't stolen, and none of their belongings were missing; what else could it be but a wild night? Most importantly, there were no surveillance cameras at the scene. Sister Qiu was taken in for questioning. She insisted that she had been thrown out of the car midway and that her former colleague Heidi had taken her place. Sister Qiu admitted to being supported by the Old Hag but claimed that the man was utterly useless and nothing but a pervert.
In that rented room where I was beaten up were two bodyguards of the Old Hag.
Sister Qiu, my best friend, had caught a golden turtle with malicious intent and reported to the Old Hag that I was having an affair with Sister Qiu.
That old bastard's two lackeys had suffered losses at my hands; they had taken a beating from me and publicly humiliated both me and Sister Qiu. They were nothing but maggots sent by Heidi.
I had added some special ingredients to the soup I sent them—besides tranquilizers, I also included some "flour" I procured from a dealer. I had stuffed several plastic bags into the exhaust pipe of the Hummer; it wasn't completely blocked, so it could still run, but with restricted exhaust flow, it wouldn't perform well. As the temperature rose, the plastic would partially melt and get pressed against the exhaust outlet, causing the vehicle to sputter like it was gasping for air.
In my rented room, Sister Qiu was as gentle as water. This girl, five years older than me, had a story far more tragic than my struggles to find work.
Since ancient times, Jiangnan has produced beauties, and she was among the finest. The year she got accepted into Jiangnan Art School, our father broke his leg while working in the fields after being trampled by livestock. Our family's savings were nearly depleted.
Her younger brother, three years her junior, couldn't bear to see his sister give up her studies and went to work in the south, vowing to support her education. Two years ago, Sister Qiu graduated from university and was hired as a music and dance teacher at a middle school. But just as she started working, her brother was suddenly diagnosed with severe kidney disease! The doctor said the only thing that could save him was a kidney transplant!
He was the only male in their generation, carrying the hopes of their family’s future and lineage. She blamed herself for dragging her brother down. At school, her monthly salary was just over 3,000 yuan. Just like her brother once supported her education, she vowed to save him.
She quit her job and came to Heavenly Abode. A girl trying to make a living couldn’t possibly earn enough for her brother’s medical expenses! Besides her good looks and figure, she also had talent and quickly became the star of the place.
Her income wasn’t low, but saving enough for her brother's treatment would be a long journey ahead. When that Old Hag from Hong Kong appeared, Sister Qiu decided to "sell" herself at a price.
I knew what happened afterward.
“Just go away, far away. This place devours people; if you stay too long, you'll end up like me—neither human nor ghost,” Sister Qiu said as she woke up in the morning, holding me tightly with both arms.
I slipped a bank card into her hand: “Consider this a loan!”
Sister Qiu accepted it and kissed me deeply in return.
I voluntarily confessed to the police.
I admit that everything regarding the Old Hag was my doing. But at that moment, it seemed like the Old Hag had fallen ill and disappeared, while the two bodyguards had long since vanished without a trace. Ultimately, after spending six months in detention, I was inexplicably released.
During this time, Brother Xiong visited me once and berated me mercilessly: "For a woman, a nightclub woman, you’ve thrown yourself away. Are you out of your mind or just pretending to be foolish? Even if you two are in love, can you really marry someone like her?"
If Sister Qiu were willing to marry me, would I take her as my wife? I believed our feelings for each other were genuine, but the idea of living together as a couple for a lifetime seemed unrealistic.
As I stepped out of the heavy gates of the detention center, the sun shone brightly, warming my skin. I picked up my belongings and was about to experience the freedom of stepping outside when I found myself unsure whether to return home or go to Brother Xiong's place.
Suddenly, a Mercedes-Benz van parked nearby opened its door. A woman—a beautiful woman, a familiar beautiful woman—stepped out, arm in arm with a well-dressed man. The woman was Sister Qiu, and the man looked somewhat familiar.
Sister Qiu smiled radiantly and gently embraced me before introducing me to the man: "This is my brother who lent me all his savings!" She then gestured for the man to introduce himself: "Your future brother-in-law, young master Jiang from Yunding Group!"
The man extended his hand: "May I also call you brother?"
From Xiangli family, I recognized Sister Qiu's younger brother. Though he appeared thin, he looked quite spirited. It was said that his surgery had been very successful and he was currently recovering.
young master Jiang was quite talkative, frequently encouraging drinks and serving food. Yet, something felt off to me.
"Let’s toast!" Sister Qiu raised her glass and smiled at me sweetly, her smile enchanting.
young master Jiang lifted his glass: "Your sister has been worried you wouldn’t make it to our wedding!"
I stood up and raised my glass: "Sister Qiu, brother-in-law, congratulations to both of you!"
Perhaps this was the most beautiful ending after all.
