The alarm bells rang out in a cacophony, and the watchtower's horns blared, sending a wave of tension through the camp. The previously peaceful and busy atmosphere was instantly replaced by a sense of urgency. Luo Yu rushed to the main gate, standing shoulder to shoulder with the grave-faced Jiao Ziqian, gazing at the convoy advancing through the nearby woods. A wave of dread washed over them. Had they arrived early? Countless questions flooded everyone's minds. The militia guards wore stern expressions, while the construction team that had been urgently recalled from outside the camp was drenched in cold sweat, as if they had narrowly escaped death. By the side gate, the shotgun team hurriedly loaded their weapons, forming a defensive line as quickly as possible, scanning their surroundings but failing to spot their leader, Liu Yan. 0

"What’s going on?" Chef Jia gasped as she climbed up to the main gate, only to see Luo Yu and Ziqian. She quickly asked, "Where's Song Jiu? Why is the alarm ringing?" 0

"Sister Jia, the zombies are back," Luo Yu replied, her brows furrowed tightly as she pointed toward the swaying trees. "Our moat isn't finished yet, and the traps aren't set. They've returned ahead of schedule." 0

"Ugh..." Chef Jia approached the railing and took the binoculars to look out. She immediately spotted two heavy Pika vehicles emerging from the forest, parading around a large open area before coming to a stop about a hundred meters away. Following behind were four or five small cargo vans with silver-gray bodies lined up in front of the main gate, their headlights flickering incessantly like silent mockery. 0

"Where's Song Jiu? Where is he?" Chef Jia swallowed hard as she glanced at the militia frantically distributing weapons behind Brick Wall, her mind in chaos. The inevitable had come, but the camp was not prepared. 0

"I don’t know; I sent someone to find him," Luo Yu said, gripping the railing tightly enough for her knuckles to turn white. The elite guards stood solemnly beside her; though they remained silent, their rapid breaths revealed the invisible pressure from outside. 0

"Where's Dream Fan? Why is Liu Yan also missing?" Luo Yu turned to Jiao Ziqian, frowning. "One vehicle is unaccounted for; what happened?" 0

Jiao Ziqian bit her dry lips and replied, "They left camp an hour ago. Dream Fan said she had found something; I let Liu Yan go with her." 0

"That's reckless!" Luo Yu bit her lip in anger. "Does Brother Jiu know?" 0

"I don’t even know where Brother Jiu is!" Jiao Ziqian exclaimed anxiously, glancing at the half-finished trenches outside the camp with an increasingly grim expression. 0

"I'll go find Song Jiu; what are you planning to do?" Chef Jia forced herself to calm down as she saw that the convoy had stopped outside but no one had yet shown themselves. 0

Jiao Ziqian pondered for a moment before asking doubtfully, "Is it possible that Us has overreacted? What if it’s not zombies?" 0

"Are you trying to comfort yourself?" Luo Yu chuckled bitterly and turned to Chef Jia. "Are there any markings?" 0

"The cargo vans," Chef Jia replied coldly. "The markings are just cargo vans; it has to be them—there's no mistake." 0

Just then, a group of people rushed over from the square, shouting loudly from afar. Before Luo Yu could make sense of it all, a series of gunshots erupted from behind the camp followed by a thunderous explosion that sent thick black smoke spiraling up from the direction of the warehouse. 0

"This is bad," Chef Jia's face turned pale as realization struck her. "Quick! Send people back to defend; they’re coming in!" 0

"What?!" Luo Yu and Jiao Ziqian were taken aback and asked in shock, "What’s happening?" 0

"There’s a secret passage in the warehouse dungeon!!!" Chef Jia felt her heart sink; she had been so clever with her plans yet completely overlooked such an important detail! 0

"Ziqian, you stay here; I’ll take people over!" Luo Yu grabbed Jiao Ziqian and quickly assigned twenty guards before jumping down from the ladder. 0

"Take your guns; they have firepower!" Jiao Ziqian tossed aside her shotgun and hurriedly sent word for support from the rifle team by the broken wall. 0

Luo Yu dashed out from Brick Wall and shouted back at Chef Jia, "Sister Jia! Gather women and children and hide in the cafeteria!" 0

"I know; be careful," Chef Jia nodded and headed toward the residential area of the square. 0

"What’s happening behind us?" Luo Yu spotted a fleeing team and quickly found Pan Sheng'an, who looked panicked. "What happened?!" 0

"I don’t know! We were working when suddenly there was an explosion! A few foreigners came out of the warehouse!" Pan Sheng'an gasped for breath. 0

"Foreigners? How many?" Luo Yu frowned. 0

"I didn’t see clearly—three or four maybe more." Pan Sheng'an glanced at the chaotic crowd and realized something was wrong. He saw Luo Yu heading toward danger and hurriedly warned her: "Brother Jiu went to the warehouse!" 0

Luo Yu was taken aback and turned around sharply. "When?" 0

"About an hour ago! I saw him go in with Effie and he hasn’t come out since!" Pan Sheng'an suddenly recalled this detail and his face changed as he murmured, "Could it be…" 0

"Shut up!" Luo Yu's face turned pale as gunfire erupted again from the direction of the warehouse; it seemed that the rifle team had engaged with them. 0

Luo Yu's expression shifted as she ordered, "Pan Sheng'an! Take your team to support Ziqian! No matter what happens, hold that main gate!" 0

"I understand; you stay safe," Pan Sheng'an wiped his sweat away as adrenaline surged through him. He quickly led his construction team toward Brick Wall after grabbing weapons from the guards to join the militia on high alert. 0

"Pan Sheng! Get up here!" Jiao Ziqian called out when she spotted Fat Brother panting heavily. 0

"What happened behind?" Jiao Ziqian asked. 0

Pan Sheng'an took water offered by a guard and poured it over his head before repeating what he had told Luo Yu earlier. 0

Upon hearing this, Jiao Ziqian exploded with anger; looking around for suitable personnel to stay behind but finding none suitable made her furious. She slammed her cup down and cursed loudly: "What are they running off for at such a critical moment?!" 0

"Who ran away?" Pan Sheng'an asked curiously. 0

"Liu Yan and Dream Fan went out," Jiao Ziqian said while picking up a small-caliber rifle to scan the convoy ahead but found it too far for effective range. 0

"Can Us send signals? What if they return only to run into a horde of zombies?" Pan Sheng'an grabbed binoculars to look across but suddenly his face twisted in fear as he stuttered while handing them to Jiao Ziqian: "Fire… fire…" 0

Jiao Ziqian furrowed her brow and leaned closer to look through them; after just one glance she dropped them in shock and yanked Pan Sheng'an down while shouting urgently: "Get down!!" 0

Boom! A flash of fire lit up outside the woods as a long trail of smoke streaked across the sky painted with evening hues—the 80mm airburst rocket accurately struck the main gate tower. The wooden tower crumbled without resistance at that moment of explosion; shrapnel flew everywhere within its massive blast radius. The militia guards caught off-guard were torn apart by flying debris and blown away into both inside and outside of camp—mangled beyond recognition. 0

Luo Yu crouched near Vegetable Greenhouse and witnessed flames erupting from the main gate followed by its tower collapsing into ruins. As smoke cleared away, all traces of militia stationed there vanished—only roaring flames remained. 0

"Luo Jie," Direct Descendant Young Man murmured blankly. "Qian'er Brother…" 0

"Don’t lose focus," Luo Yu said with reddened eyes as she gritted her teeth to regain composure. She assigned several shooters between pig pens and sheds in an attempt to seize higher ground while leading others to secure routes toward cafeteria and square. 0

With no alarms ringing from Watchtower anymore—it meant that guards stationed there had likely met misfortune—Luo Yu dared not think about Song Jiu's current situation but could only pray silently that everyone would be safe. 0

After crouching for several minutes without any movement from across fields where zombies should have charged straight ahead with firepower—Luo Yu frowned thoughtfully before instructing younger members to hold their positions while she stealthily moved through bushes towards lower terrain where she climbed onto a low tree branch for cover among leaves before using binoculars on piles of bricks scattered across fields. 0

Smoke still billowed from warehouse where several bodies lay sprawled near entrance; although weeds had been cleared away earlier—a large amount of building materials now served as natural cover for zombies lurking nearby. 0

Luo Yu dared not make any sudden moves knowing that enemies might be hiding behind those piles of bricks—two consecutive explosions had given her new insight into their armed capabilities—and she couldn’t guarantee whether zombies possessed sniper gear either; recklessly exposing herself could lead to dire consequences. 0

While personnel numbers within camp could still provide some leverage against zombies—their cold weapons would stand no chance against hot firearms—and with enemy conditions still unclear along with Song Jiu missing—their formation felt somewhat disordered. 0

A young man about ten meters away climbed onto shed roof scanning Vegetable Greenhouse when he seemed to spot something alarming; he quickly signaled teammates below him but suddenly intense gunfire ripped through Greenhouse’s plastic covering sending straw flying off shed roof above him. 0

“Get down!” Luo Yu shouted anxiously exposing her position which drew immediate fire directed towards her causing branches overhead to splinter everywhere around her. 0

In dire straits now—she leaped off tree branch waving hands signaling militia guards towards Greenhouse while herself sneaking past pig pen using fence cover towards shed area instead. 0

A large hole appeared atop Thatch Roof Hut where young man lying in ambush fell injured but thankfully survived without serious harm. 0

"Luo Jie! There’s one inside Greenhouse; I didn’t see any others," Young Man reported apologetically. 0

“Be careful,” Luo Yu instructed before signaling two other guards who swiftly split into different directions rushing forward rapidly towards their target area within Greenhouse where an ominous grin appeared on one black man’s face as he secured his walkie-talkie at waist level stating: “Three at nine o’clock direction; five at two o’clock direction.” 0

With that said he raised his sleek black M16 assault rifle slowly aiming steadily at a girl tied back with ponytail right before him. 0
