As dusk approached, the streets were stretched with numerous shadows, in this vast empty city, half water and half fire. 0

The burning City Wall resembled a beacon of smoke and flames, as the north wind howled mercilessly, accompanied by the sound of gunfire that shattered the silence, revealing a chilling atmosphere. 0

Ming Junwei's face was flushed, his Cyclops gleaming with fierce light as he surveyed the chaos across at the west gate. 0

"Have we made contact?" Ming Junwei reached up to take half a cigarette from his ear, placing it between his lips. He lit it against the wind, letting the nicotine swirl in his lungs before exhaling a puff of blue smoke. 0

"Not yet, it's too far away." The graduate student, Little Bear, fiddled with the walkie-talkie signal, anxiously waiting for a response from the other side. However, after fiddling for a while, all he could hear was static. 0

"Then let's get closer." Ming Junwei rubbed his slightly sore eyes, adjusted his eye mask, and slid down the escalator. 0

Below, a group of Militia members looked at him expressionlessly, each one eager to try their hand at action. 0

"Qixi, how's it going on your end?" Ming Junwei cupped his hands into a megaphone shape and directed his gaze towards a small building across the street. He turned to Liu Yan and asked, "Do you have any suggestions? You must have done something similar before." 0

"Oh," Liu Yan paused for a moment. He hadn't intended to voice an opinion since it was someone else's territory; it felt inappropriate to interrupt. However, since Luci had asked him directly, he felt no hesitation and inquired, "Are you planning to eliminate the Zombies or divert them?" 0

"Eliminating them seems quite difficult," Yinuo said, her cheeks flushed as she fanned herself with her palm, beads of sweat forming on her nose. 0

"I personally think diverting them is more troublesome," Liu Yan replied as he turned to instruct two young men to keep watch outside the alley. He squatted down and picked up a piece of rubble to sketch out the Roundabout's location and where everyone currently stood. He analyzed, "Your base is located in the southern center; theoretically, Zombies shouldn't wander too far over there. But you also need to consider safety around you. So diversion can only head northwest. This way, the front line will be stretched too long. I don't know if there are any defensive structures near the Roundabout; if there are, there's no need to go through all that trouble. After all, the streets in this city are crisscrossed; you can engage in guerrilla tactics—eliminate one wave at a time. Ultimately you'll still need to clear them out anyway; wouldn't that be more troublesome?" 0

Luci and Yinuo exchanged glances and explained, "We have fixed diversion points in all four directions; they are relatively open areas that can contain large numbers of Zombies." 0

"Oh," Liu Yan raised an eyebrow, beginning to understand Luci's plan. After pondering for a moment, he asked, "Where is the nearest containment point? Is it far from here?" 0

"Not far—about ten minutes or so," Yinuo replied. 0

"Then we can give it a try." Liu Yan nodded lightly and added, "But now that the Zombies have scattered, I estimate that concentrating them won't be very effective. Without firepower on your side, if you encounter another group of people, you might be at a disadvantage." 0

"What do you suggest for elimination then?" Luci asked somewhat awkwardly. Ming Junwei had previously instructed her to attract the Zombies; she wondered if following Liu Yan's advice would disrupt Ming Junwei's plans. 0

Liu Yan smiled lightly, recalling the counter-offensive led by Song Jiu at Riverside Camp. Considering the current situation, he said, "Sharpening the knife doesn’t delay the chopping of wood. We’ll kill while retreating, and send some people to clear the path to the enclosed area." 0

"Alright, let's do it that way," Luci immediately decided, assigning ten people from the team to go to the necessary route ahead and coordinating briefly with Liu Yan on the pace before charging out of the alley to join the battle. 0

Before taking action, Luci felt a bit anxious. She thought Liu Yan's method seemed somewhat dangerous; if they simply attracted the Horde, they could maintain a safe distance from the Zombies. However, following Liu Yan's plan meant they would have to engage in close combat with the Zombies. Although it appeared they had enough manpower, many of these individuals were not professional fighters and were responsible for keeping a camp operational. The last time they faced a large-scale Zombie attack, Roundabout had paid a heavy price, losing a third of its population despite still standing in the city. 0

"Don't worry," Liu Yan seemed to sense Luci's hesitation and softly reassured her. "We’ll make quick work of this; just keep everything coordinated and ensure no one falls behind." 0

"Okay." Luci cast aside her distracting thoughts, her brows furrowing slightly as her eyes regained their calmness. She stood shoulder to shoulder with Liu Yan and charged out first without a moment's pause, her blade slicing through the air and spraying blood mist. 0

At that moment, Yinuo suddenly noticed a commotion at her waist. She quickly swung her knife to decapitate a Zombie in front of her and retreated to the back of the line to grab her walkie-talkie. 0

"This is Yinuo. Can you hear me?" 0

"Received! This is Xiao Wei. Where are you?" 0

"On the main road west. How about you and Yao Yao?" 0

"We're about to exit the main road; a convoy is heading your way." 0

"What?" Yinuo exclaimed in shock. How could there be a convoy out here? 0

However, static filled the walkie-talkie for a long moment before Xiao Wei's urgent voice came through again. 0

"Fall back quickly; Yao Yao is over there!" 0

"Where?" Yinuo shouted as she ran, hurriedly moving closer to Luci and calling out, "Xiao Wei wants us to retreat; she said there's a convoy coming!" 0

"A convoy?" Luci looked equally shocked and confused. "Where did this convoy come from?" 0

As if answering her question, two Heavy Off-Road Vehicles suddenly burst out from a side street about a hundred meters ahead on the main road. They broke through the Horde of Zombies and swiftly turned towards Luci’s direction. 0

Liu Yan's brow twitched, and she cursed inwardly. How could E have tracked them down so quickly? How did she know they were hiding here? 0

"Fall back!" Luci reacted swiftly, pulling a bloodthirsty Militia member back with a quick motion. With a whistle, she led the group of Militia towards the designated extraction point. 0

The horde of Zombies in the center of the street erupted into chaos. In front was Luci and her group, while behind them was a rapidly approaching convoy. The roar of the crowd surged like a tidal wave, drowning out even the gunfire from the convoy. 0

The main road was wide and straight, with few obstacles. Luci's group retreated without hesitation, but when they reached the extraction point, the Squad they had sent ahead was still unprepared. 0

"Into the alley!" Liu Yan had been leading the Direct Descendant Young Man at the front. At this moment, they had created a small distance from the Zombies. The convoy behind them unleashed fierce firepower; two Heavy Off-Road Vehicles transformed into mobile artillery, spewing flames as they crushed large groups of Zombies under their wheels, speeding through and seemingly about to break through the Horde closing in on them. 0

Luci's expression turned serious. The street at this intersection was wide enough that a collective retreat would make them easy targets for the two armored vehicles. Just as she was about to order everyone to scatter and escape, a gunshot rang out from across the street. The driver of one vehicle was hit, blood exploding in the cabin as he slumped to the side, inadvertently steering the vehicle off course. The Cabin spun around 180 degrees with a thunderous crash, rolling over and crushing Zombies beneath it as it skidded more than ten meters away. 0

Everyone turned towards the sound and saw a man on a rooftop diagonally across from them, his gun aimed at the rear vehicle as he pulled the trigger again. 0

Luci and Yinuo exchanged relieved glances, both visibly pleased. 0
