My Tenant is a Female Ghost
For this Ghost Hunting Competition, Bai Zhuo was incredibly lucky. On the way back, Elder Ge told Bai Zhuo that the Taotie Ghost was a very special existence; as long as it was powerful enough, it could consume almost all souls for itself and coexist with them to enhance its own strength.
Bai Zhuo thought about it and realized it was true. The Taotie Ghost had devoured countless souls during the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons, and now it had benefited Bai Zhuo. Sometimes, luck was a form of strength too!
At Ge's Flower Shop, Elder Ge held the Thunder Tribulation Divine Tree in one hand and the Map of Mountains and Rivers in the other, beaming with joy as if these two items were his own.
"Good job! You did well, truly worthy of being my disciple, Ge Zhongxiang! Hahaha!" After indulging himself for a moment, Elder Ge set the items down. "Now, hand over what you owe me."
Bai Zhuo was taken aback and asked, "What... what do you mean?"
Elder Ge shot him a glare. "What do you mean 'what'? Have you forgotten your purpose for participating in this Ghost Hunting Competition?"
Upon hearing this, Bai Zhuo broke into a cold sweat, unsure of what to do.
Seeing Bai Zhuo's expression, Elder Ge's eyes widened in anger. "You little brat, don't tell me you've gotten carried away!"
Trembling, Bai Zhuo pulled out a Five Elements Plate and a bronze mirror from his pocket and placed them on the table.
"What is this? The Five Elements Plate? Isn't this Zheng Ming's? How did it end up with you?"
"He lost a bet against me and accepted his defeat; this Five Elements Plate is now mine."
Elder Ge grew impatient regarding Zheng Ming's matter. "Where are the talismans? The talismans?"
Bai Zhuo nervously pointed at the bronze mirror. "I thought it was really magical at the time, so..." Before he could finish his sentence, Elder Ge slammed his hand on the table and exploded in rage. "What! You didn't bring that talisman? Marrying a living person to a dead one is utterly outrageous! You little fool, are you trying to give me a heart attack... sigh..."
"...I'm sorry, Master."
Elder Ge felt faint with anger, covering his head as he struggled to calm down. After a long while, he sighed and said, "Sigh... tsk, you're not just apologizing to me; you're also apologizing to Shui Lian and your own ancestors."
Bai Zhuo hurriedly tried to explain, "Master, I and Shui Lian..."
Elder Ge did not want to hear his explanation and interrupted Bai Zhuo, saying, "You've stayed up all night too; you must be tired. You should go home now... Don't forget your things."
Elder Ge stood up and left. It seemed he was truly angry. Bai Zhuo watched his master's retreating figure, which appeared much older than usual. With a sigh, Bai Zhuo picked up his belongings and left the flower shop.
He drove Yang Liu's car back home, where Yang Liu and Miao Xiaoqi were still asleep. Upon returning to his room, Bai Zhuo set down his things, and as sleepiness washed over him, he lay back and fell asleep.
...
"Dinglingling..." The familiar sound of a bell rang out, pulling Bai Zhuo from his daze. The scene was familiar: the same cliff and the same long-haired beauty. However, there was now a Pomegranate Tree beside the cliff. This beauty looked slightly different; the corners of her mouth were turned up a bit. She rose, leaning against the Pomegranate Tree, glanced back at Bai Zhuo, and then leaned backward over the edge of the cliff.
Bai Zhuo exclaimed, "Hey, hey, hey! Beautiful lady, are you jumping again? Wait, why 'again'?" Gritting his teeth, Bai Zhuo chased after her figure and leaped into the air!
"For this jump," "How reckless!" "I An Zhi Xi have no regrets..." "Waiting for you for a thousand years..."
...
"Ah—" The sensation of weightlessness hit him; this dream felt so real that Bai Zhuo gasped for breath and awoke with a start from his bed, filled with dread.
Looking at the time, it was already around eleven in the morning. The boy Cao Xin seemed to have hidden away somewhere. He pulled off the green snake that had been sleeping soundly in his nostrils and took a deep breath of fresh air. He smiled wryly; no wonder Zhu Man wanted to keep her in a container—this little guy had quite the sleeping posture! Luckily, he wasn't a girl... The green snake woke up and flicked its tongue at Bai Zhuo in dissatisfaction before coiling around his wrist. Its slender body resembled a green bracelet.
Bai Zhuo yawned and stepped into the yard. Su Meiniang lay on a long bench under the corridor, revealing her delicate hands as she waved a fan. At first glance, she looked like a charming girl trying to escape the summer heat. This Su Meiniang had been a ghost for a thousand years but still retained human-like habits—truly puzzling.
Her attire remained as it had been when Bai Zhuo first saw her: court robes with beautiful hair styled in an elegant bun. A pink three-petal lotus flower ornament adorned her forehead, showcasing her enchanting beauty.
Bai Zhuo didn't want to pay her any mind. Su Meiniang turned her head slightly to glance at him but also chose to ignore him.
The Pomegranate Tree in the yard stood over three meters tall and was lush with foliage, standing side by side with a nearby willow tree. A White Peach tree also grew in between them. He took out the golden bell tied with red thread and looked around before muttering to himself, "What is the connection between this bell and that Pomegranate Tree with my dream girl?"
He pulled out the red silk-threaded bell from his pocket and couldn't help but shake it gently. The clear and pleasant sound of "ding ding ding" made Bai Zhuo momentarily lose focus.
Suddenly, under the bright daylight, a chilling wind swept through the yard, causing Bai Zhuo to stagger as he struggled to keep his eyes open! The Pomegranate Tree shook violently; Su Meiniang was startled by this sudden gust and fell off the bench, cursing, "You little brat! What kind of nonsense are you up to?"
"The rustling finally stopped as the strong wind died down. Bai Zhuo, unable to discern east from west, spat out a few willow leaves and cursed, 'Damn it, what the hell is this? A demonic wind?' He failed to notice Su Meiniang, her eyes wide with shock, staring at the Pomegranate Tree behind him, speechless.
A faint fragrance wafted into Bai Zhuo's nostrils, refreshing and soothing.
'Strange, I don't think we have any flowers planted at home...' He turned around and was met with a scene he would never forget.
The robust Pomegranate Tree swayed gently in the breeze, its originally green leaves adorned with vibrant red pomegranate flowers, petals drifting down like confetti. Perched on a branch was a barefoot woman with long hair cascading down to her waist, delicately gathering her tresses. She was enchanting beyond compare, captivating enough to make one feel she was unattainable!
Bai Zhuo was left speechless, utterly mesmerized by her beauty. Yet, inexplicably, tears welled up in the corners of his eyes, which felt rather odd.
Su Meiniang lost her graceful composure, resembling a startled cat as she pointed at the breathtaking figure and exclaimed, 'An An An An... An Zhi Xi?!'
The An Zhi Xi on the Pomegranate Tree blinked her large almond-shaped eyes and noticed Su Meiniang. 'Oh? Su San!'
What? Wasn't she called Su Meiniang? Why call her Su San instead? And who was An Zhi Xi? That name sounded so familiar!
Su Meiniang stammered, 'Y-you... didn't you enter the cycle of reincarnation and get reborn?'
An Zhi Xi floated down from the branch lightly, the red thread and golden bells around her ankles jingling melodiously. Bai Zhuo realized that the golden bell he had been holding had vanished at some point; it had already been tied to An Zhi Xi's foot."
