"My Tenant is a Female Ghost" features a female ghost.
"You are lying!" Yang Liu's father glared sharply, immediately seeing through Bai Zhuo's deception. Bai Zhuo was slightly taken aback but did not argue. Instead, he asked, "Uncle, are you worried that I am sent by your rival or perhaps a corporate spy?"
Yang's Father looked at Bai Zhuo with surprise. "Isn't that the case?"
"Uh, indeed... Uncle, you are overthinking it. Boss Huang's behavior is due to my profession."
"Your profession?" Yang's Father asked curiously. "What does that have to do with anything?"
"Because... I am a Yin-Yang Master!"
"A Yin-Yang Master!" Yang's Father raised an eyebrow, as if realizing something. "Why should I believe you?"
Bai Zhuo took out a talisman and handed it to Yang's Father. "This is an Exorcism Talisman, and also, I know that Yang Liu has a Nine Profound Yin Body."
"A piece of paper doesn't prove anything," Yang's Father replied. "My daughter's condition can be easily verified by anyone with the right resources. Your claims aren't enough for me to trust you."
"Alright." Bai Zhuo pulled out the Yin Yang Mirror and shrugged. "Phantom Sparrow!"
The Phantom Sparrow emerged from Bai Zhuo's shadow, appearing somewhat lethargic behind Yang's Father. However, Bai Zhuo paid it no mind. He handed the Yin Yang Mirror to Yang's Father. "Take a look for yourself."
Yang's Father accepted the Yin Yang Mirror and looked into it. "There's nothing here?"
Bai Zhuo signaled to the Phantom Sparrow, which cast an illusion before retreating back into the shadows. Even so, in that brief moment, Yang's Father was startled by the ghostly figure that appeared in the mirror, letting out a scream as he dropped the Yin Yang Mirror and turned around to look again, only to find nothing behind him.
Bai Zhuo quickly caught the Yin Yang Mirror before putting it away and asked, "Uncle Yang, it's fine now, don't be nervous. Do you believe my profession now?"
Yang's Father calmed himself and asked, "So, who is your master?"
"My master is Ge Zhongxiang."
"Oh? Is he Elder Ge from Ningcheng?"
"Yes, I am a disciple of Elder Ge. The Ge Family is well-known and respected in Ningcheng, just like yours. You can easily verify this; it cannot be false," Bai Zhuo replied.
Upon hearing this, Yang's Father finally revealed a hint of a smile on his serious face. "So you are Elder Ge's disciple. I will trust you this once. I heard Mr. Zhongli is a close friend of Elder Ge and seems to have been in Ningcheng these past few months. Do you know anything about that?"
"Oh, I know. Just a couple of days ago, I saw Zhong Bo at my master's house; he is quite young," Bai Zhuo answered.
Yang's Father believed him somewhat after hearing this. "Mr. Zhong is indeed a remarkable person. Although he is older, he still looks like a middle-aged man; it’s truly incredible... By the way, the talisman on Liu Er was something I personally requested from Mr. Zhong, and it cost quite a bit of resources. However, during our last phone call, that girl accidentally damaged it. I was thinking, since you know Bai Zhuo, could you take me to see him again sometime to ask for another talisman for Liu Er?"
Bai Zhuo said, "Uncle Yang, I can take you to meet Zhong Bo, but if it's just to ask for a talisman, I think we can skip it."
"Oh? Why is that?"
"Because Liu Er already has a talisman, and its effectiveness is better than Zhong Bo's charms. Moreover, these charms are extremely expensive. There's no need for you to rush; we can wait until the time limit on Liu Er's talisman expires."
"Did you make it for Liu Er? How long does it last?"
"It lasts anywhere from two years at the minimum to three years at the maximum."
"Three years... Alright, I understand now. You haven't eaten yet, have you? Come in and join us."
"Okay, then I'll bother you, Uncle Yang."
At the dining table were Yang Liu's family, her nanny, and Bai Zhuo—five people in total. There were six or seven delicious home-cooked dishes on the table, creating a warm atmosphere.
However, it was unfortunate that Yang Liu's mother seemed to dislike Bai Zhuo very much; she regarded him coldly and had little to say. On the other hand, after learning that Bai Zhuo was a Yin-Yang Master, Yang's Father became much more enthusiastic than before. He served his daughter a piece of lean meat and said, "Bai Zhuo, given Liu Er's unique constitution, have you thought of any ways to help her?"
Bai Zhuo swallowed his food, noticing Yang Liu hesitating nearby, unsure whether to approach her.
Seeing Bai Zhuo's hesitation, Yang Liu kicked him lightly under the table. Yang's Father seemed to sense Bai Zhuo's concern and put down his chopsticks, saying, "Go ahead. You are Liu Er's boyfriend. As long as you treat Liu Er sincerely, we are all family here. There’s no need to worry about anything."
"Dad!" Yang Liu exclaimed in surprise, completely taken aback that her father had already tacitly accepted Bai Zhuo as her "boyfriend." She felt a mix of astonishment and embarrassment. Meanwhile, Yang Liu's mother frowned slightly but continued eating without saying much.
Bai Zhuo sighed, "Uncle Yang, to be honest, I’m not sure if I can help Yang Liu with this issue. I know that Yang Liu has the Nine Profound Yin Body. If we don’t find a solution, the Yin Qi within her will grow heavier and eventually overshadow her Yang energy. At that point, she could be seen as a dead person by Underworld Soul Reapers who would take her soul away. Once the soul leaves the body and goes to the Underworld, it means death, and no one can stop it."
Yang Liu was startled by this revelation. "Hey, Bai, why didn’t you mention this before?"
"I was worried you would overthink it. No one wants to think about dying young."
"What about now..." Yang Liu trailed off but was interrupted by a glance from her father. Yang's Father asked, "If you’re not sure, that means you have a way, right?"
Bai Zhuo nodded. "I do have a method, but the hope is very slim; I don’t want to make any promises."
"That’s fine," Yang's Father replied.
"This..." Bai Zhuo glanced at Yang Liu and her mother awkwardly. "Can we step outside? There are some things I’d rather not discuss in front of Auntie."
Yang's Father put down his chopsticks. "Alright, come with me. Liu Er, you come too." Yang Liu responded with an "Oh" and set down her bowl and chopsticks to follow. Yang's Father's study was spacious and scented with sandalwood; the faint aroma was pleasant and likely from high-quality incense. "Make yourself comfortable, Liu Er; close the door."
Once Yang Liu closed the door, Bai Zhuo spoke up. "Uncle Yang, the reason I wanted to avoid Auntie is that what I’m about to discuss might lead to misunderstandings and unnecessary trouble for her. I think it would be easier to communicate with you."
Yang's Father maintained his serious expression and nodded slightly. "Go on."
"To change Yang Liu’s constitution, there is only one method: she must engage in intercourse with a man!"
Upon hearing this, Yang Liu’s cheeks instantly flushed red; she looked as if she might burst into flames! Stammering, she exclaimed, "W-What? Intercourse with a man? I..."
Yang's Father remained calm, or perhaps that was just his usual expression. "Is it really that simple?"
"No, no, no. If it were that simple, as Liu Er's boyfriend, I would have already taken care of matters regarding our intimacy."
Yang Liu's eyebrows shot up in anger, ready to retort, but she shrank back under her father's glare, losing her temper. Yang's Father asked, "Then what is the situation?"
"To be intimate with Liu Er requires an ancient book," Bai Zhuo, the faux boyfriend, awkwardly scratched the back of his head. "The book is titled 'The Book of Earthly Yin and Yang Great Joy.' It contains methods for addressing Liu Er's unique constitution. With this book, if both parties practice together, they can resolve Liu Er's special condition."
"Is it impossible without this book?"
Bai Zhuo shook his head. "It's not possible. If one were to be intimate with her without studying that ancient text, it wouldn't help Liu Er; instead, it would harm her and exacerbate her Yin Qi, leading to a quicker demise!"
Unbeknownst to him, Bai Zhuo had gradually slipped into the role of "boyfriend," becoming increasingly natural in his demeanor. Meanwhile, Yang Liu was grinding her teeth in frustration, her face flushed like a monkey's backside. Yang's Father pondered for a moment before asking, "How long have you two been dating?"
At that moment, Yang Liu jumped up and exclaimed, "Half a year! It's been half a year!"
Yang's Father nodded thoughtfully and gave Bai Zhuo a knowing look that only men understand. With heartfelt sincerity, he said, "Son, you've been put through a lot... You've done well."
Bai Zhuo chuckled awkwardly, understanding the implication behind Yang's Father's words and feeling somewhat embarrassed. He quickly changed the subject. "The reason I haven't been confident is that the ancient book is practically lost! All I know is that it appeared long ago in Tibet."
Yang's Father nodded. "Alright, I understand now. I'll have someone look for the book. Even if it's like searching for a needle in a haystack, I will find it because I only have this little bit of flesh and blood." He patted Yang Liu on the head with a knowing smile. "My daughter has grown up and knows how to find a man for herself. With Bai Zhuo here for you, I won't interfere... Let's go eat."
Upon hearing her father's words, Yang Liu felt touched and hugged him tightly. Yang's Father rarely showed such a smile. "Come on now, let's go; dinner isn't finished yet."
When they returned to the dining table, Yang Liu's mother had finished eating and was nowhere to be found. Bai Zhuo and Yang Liu enjoyed their lunch without any interruptions from Leng Xuanhe and ate heartily. Yang's Father glanced at Bai Zhuo but didn't mind his table manners.
"Uncle Yang, I'm done eating. Please take your time; I have things to do this afternoon, so I'll be leaving now," Bai Zhuo said.
"So soon? Aren't you going to stay for a while?"
"Well, I won't disturb your reunion with Liu Er. I really have something to do this afternoon," Bai Zhuo joked to himself, thinking about the sticky situation in his underwear that still hadn't dried. He needed to hurry home and change.
Yang's Father didn't insist on keeping him, saying, "Alright then, Liu Er, go see Bai Zhuo off." Yang Liu responded with an "Oh," casually linking her arm with Bai Zhuo's as they walked out together.
"Ouch... that hurts! What are you doing?" As soon as they stepped outside, Bai Zhuo felt a sharp pain under his ribs and exclaimed, "Hey, Liu Er, why are you twisting me again?"
Yang Liu smiled coldly, "Oh, so you’re getting used to calling me Liu Er now, huh?"
"Ah! We're dating, so we should be a bit more intimate to avoid giving ourselves away!" Bai Zhuo explained. Yang Liu snorted, her face turning red as she thought of something else. In a teasing tone, she said, "Heh heh, as Liu Er's boyfriend, I've already taken care of those matters... How could you, Bai Zhuo! Can you just throw around such words? Remember, you're my fake boyfriend—fake boyfriend!"
As she finished speaking, she recalled the wet kiss from earlier at the airport and felt shy again. She reached out and twisted the soft flesh at Bai Zhuo's waist hard. He yelped in pain and swatted her mischievous hand away. "Yang Liu, if you twist me again, I—I..."
"What will you do?" Yang Liu raised her chin defiantly, unafraid of his threat. "What? Are you scared?"
"If you twist me again, I'll make it real!"
Yang Liu was startled by his response and shouted back, "You wouldn't dare!"
Bai Zhuo was fired up too. "Try me and see if I dare!"
"..." Yang Liu fell silent at once; it seemed she was still a bit afraid of Bai Zhuo. She asked cautiously, "If... if we really did make it real, what about Sister Shirei? Don't you like Sister Shirei? I think she has feelings for you too."
Mentioning Ouyang Shirei made Bai Zhuo fall silent.
Now that he thought about it, his relationship with Ouyang Shirei seemed to be at a standstill. If he didn't get rid of Zhou Liang—the 'eunuch'—soon enough, he wouldn't have any chance.
Seeing Bai Zhuo quiet down made Yang Liu realize she had hit a sore spot. To her surprise, she felt a twinge of disappointment! Startled by her own emotions, she suddenly burst into laughter. "Oh come on! I was just joking! Hahaha! Let's go; I'll walk you home."
...
They walked in silence until Yang Liu safely dropped Bai Zhuo off at his house before leaving. After changing his clothes, Bai Zhuo took out his phone and called Elder Ge.
"Master, are you free tonight?"
"I have some matters to attend to with Zhong Bo tonight. Why, is there something you need?"
In Bai Zhuo's impression, Elder Ge seemed to never have a moment of rest. He asked, "I don't have anything major... Do you need my help, Master?"
Elder Ge chuckled lightly, "You... just hearing you say that makes me very happy. As long as you have that intention, it's enough. This matter tonight is beyond your capabilities; it would only complicate things if you came."
"What kind of matter? Even you can't handle it, Master?" Bai Zhuo asked curiously.
"There are plenty of things your master can't handle. Just tell me over the phone."
"Oh, I just wanted to ask about the solution for the Nine Profound Yin Body."
"The Nine Profound Yin Body?" Elder Ge pondered for a moment. "I'm not really sure about that, but Zhong Bo has done some research on it. How about I ask him tonight?"
"Alright, then I'll trouble you, Master."
"Hehe, once this troublesome matter is settled tonight, you and Shui Lian should also start planning your wedding properly." (To be continued.)
