Chapter 56: The Artificial Species of Evil Spirit

Thus, species such as the calf-sized ants and dragonflies emerged in the world.

Yet the result was one of utter despair for humankind.
Under nuclear radiation, the mutated species underwent further mutations, and their bodies completely fused with magnetorheological fluid, forming a new "soul" that turned them into life forms resembling entirely new species. Moreover, they became large, highly intelligent beings.
The only silver lining was that there was no special connection formed among the various species within Evil Spirit City, allowing humanity to establish unique defensive fortifications against them.
However, during this period, for reasons unknown, countless historical figures from ages past emerged, roaming the world in ghostly forms and wreaking havoc upon humanity.
Had it not been for humanity's significant research achievements regarding spirits and their extermination capabilities, survival through the twenty-first century would have been impossible.

Yet, something strange occurred.
The special life forms within Evil Spirit City not only devoured humans but also consumed spirits. Thus, Evil Spirit City inadvertently became a line of defense for humanity against spirits.
In the Evil Spirit City, when special life forms die, a unique Spirit Core appears in their brains, greatly enhancing both humans and Spirits.
Thus, a triangular food chain relationship formed among humans, the Demon Clan, and Mutated Species. The Mutated Species ultimately came to be known as Evil Spirits by humans.
The gathering place of the Evil Spirits is called Evil Spirit City.
However, all Evil Spirit Cities share a situation that is incomprehensible to both humans and Spirits.
If a human king or a ghost king enters, a Monarch will appear in the Evil Spirit City. If a Monarch intrudes, an entity with strength resembling that of an Emperor will emerge from the city.
As a result, the power of Evil Spirit Cities around the world remains unknown to both humans and ghosts, making them hesitant to provoke these places.
This uncertainty has led to a tacit understanding between the human race and the Demon Clan: only allowing individuals below the rank of king or Spirits to enter the Evil Spirit City.
