Chapter 1: Breaking Through the Eight Gates?
There were too many puzzling things happening in a single day, but Lian Yun did not dwell on them. The presence of a tomb meant there was an opportunity for Nirvana. Even if the share he received was small, Lian Yun believed it would be enough for him to challenge the final stage of Ultimate Ascension to Kingship.
Without overthinking, he recovered slightly and set off. Soon, he arrived outside the Blood Spirit Fruit Tree and was surprised to see over ten thousand Evil Spirits bowing to him. Lian Yun suddenly waved his hand, dispersing his own thoughts.
Then he witnessed thousands of Evil Spirits swiftly mobilizing, pulling out a large number of Ghost Groups from the tens of thousands of outfits on the ground.
Once again, he dispersed his thoughts, and the Evil Spirits divided into two groups. Hundreds of them took all the Ghost Groups and headed toward Fengdu Center.
Along the way, Lian Yun encountered many powerful Evil Spirits, yet none opposed him; they all bowed in submission. This further confirmed the effectiveness of the token he held.
He avoided passing through the central area as a precaution because Lian Yun felt that there might be Evil Spirits with strength comparable to an Emperor lurking in Fengdu Center. Even if they might obey the Humanoid Locust, they would not necessarily submit to its token.
After all, powerful beings possess their own authority.
Upon reaching the edge of the center, Lian Yun communicated with the surrounding Evil Spirits through his thoughts and learned about several specific locations of Spiritwood. He also discovered a special location—once a hideout for the Humanoid Locust.
No Evil Spirit dared to enter Fengdu's true center, so Lian Yun immediately made his way there. Although the descriptions from the surrounding Evil Spirits were not very clear, by piecing together their words, he deduced that there was a Spirit Liquid Pool nearby that served as the foundation for the Humanoid Locust's transformation.
He arrived at a massive underground cavern where nothing particularly eye-catching stood out except for four empty shells and a pool.
There was a small pupa shell, a Locust shell, a gigantic Locust shell about seven or eight meters tall, and a half-Humanoid Locust shell over three meters high. Even though they were merely empty shells, they exuded an incredibly solid aura—surpassing even some sturdy minerals.
From this, it was evident that the transformation of the Humanoid Locust was not as simple as it seemed.
However, Lian Yun did not dwell on this for long. Instead, he approached the edge of the pool and gazed at the nearly bottomless expanse of vibrant green water—only about enough to fill a basin.
He reached out to sense whether it could be used, only to find that his Box absorbed all the spirit liquid in an instant.
Suddenly, Lian Yun thought not of anything else but whether his Box specialized in absorbing such energy—like Purple Qi or this kind of spirit liquid.
But if that were the case, then what about the Deep Blue Aura within the Evil Spirit? Could it also be considered a natural phenomenon?
Unable to make sense of it, Lian Yun decided not to dwell on the matter for now and immediately set off towards the south of Fengdu.
Using the Spirit Liquid from the Box, he quickly healed his injuries and replenished his Spiritual Energy. Lian Yun continuously employed the Sword Control Technique, reaching the outskirts of southern Fengdu at an astonishing speed.
Upon arriving, Lian Yun paused briefly. Beyond this point lay the territory of the Demon Clan. While he had not yet entered the Demon Realm, the likelihood of encountering a Demon Emperor had significantly increased.
This area was no longer one where humans typically roamed.
However, Lian Yun did not linger for long; after a slight adjustment, he pressed on.
After traveling for several miles, he discovered that the Elder Ghost had gathered a Demon Army to block his path.
Although the beautiful Boss Lady's request seemed urgent, Lian Yun refrained from forcing his way through, as the Elder Ghost had not treated him poorly.
"Once again, we meet. I am Zhang Bao," the Elder Ghost said.
Initially, upon hearing about the Yellow Turban Guard, Lian Yun thought this might be the historical Zhang Jiao. To his surprise, he realized this was one of Zhang Jiao's own brothers.
Not daring to be disrespectful, Lian Yun immediately bowed and said, "I am Lian Yun, honored to meet you, Senior Zhang Bao."
"Hehe! Follow me!" Zhang Bao replied.
The army parted ways as Zhang Bao moved forward alone.
In that moment, Lian Yun suddenly felt that perhaps Zhang Bao had already seen through his true identity. It was possible that this summons from the beautiful Boss Lady was also suggested by Zhang Bao.
Though it seemed hard to believe, Lian Yun couldn't shake off that possibility.
Indeed, when Lian Yun approached him, he spoke slowly, "Identifying your identity is a personal special ability, not something to be disclosed to outsiders."
He had recognized Lian Yun's identity through his own unique ability, but he did not wish to reveal the nature of that ability.
In response, Lian Yun bowed and said, "Understood!"
"Knowing your identity, I also sense that although you harbor intentions to slaughter the Demon Clan, you do not hold an excessive prejudice against them. After your past experiences, it is commendable that you still maintain such a mindset."
"Senior, you flatter me."
"Therefore, as we currently lack one person for the exploration of the tomb, I propose to my brother that we invite you to join us."
The elder Zhang Bao's brother must be Zhang Jiao.
So it was not the beautiful Boss Lady who recognized her own strength and position, but rather this elder Zhang Bao's suggestion.
Looking at the leisurely pace of Elder Zhang Bao now, it was clear that the so-called seven hundred miles mentioned by the beautiful Boss Lady took into account that she was outside the northern part of Fengdu.
Lian Yun bowed again in gratitude but found himself at a loss for words.
"There is no need to worry. I only hope that in the future, if great changes occur in our land, we can support each other."
So that was it; he likely shared similar thoughts about the Peerless Demon Master as Lian Yun did. He hoped to gain some allies should there be significant upheaval in Huaxia.
As for why he chose Lian Yun, it was probably because he sensed Lian Yun's abilities and recognized his willingness to establish a force.
Although there was no solid basis for this belief, Lian Yun felt it was quite possible.
Historical records indicated that those with demonic powers were few and far between. The Peerless Demon Master was among the most renowned, but the Zhang Jiao brothers were not to be underestimated either.
However, it was surprising that Zhang Bao's strength was not at the king level. Yet, from another perspective, this indicated that his special abilities must be extraordinary.
Lian Yun even felt that revealing the truth at this moment was actually a sign of his awareness of his control over the entire Fengdu.
Thinking of this, Lian Yun did not hold back and nodded, asking, "Should I have my subordinates protect your Yellow Turban Guard, Senior?"
"Although Cang is dead, whether or not we can achieve our goals should come naturally," Zhang Bao replied with a slight smile.
Cang is dead, Huang has taken over; this was the slogan of Zhang Jiao's uprising.
Thus, Lian Yun did not press further.
The two traveled for several dozen miles when they spotted a bearded Boss and the beautiful Boss Lady in the distance, along with two other Spirits.
Initially, Lian Yun thought it would be Zhang Jiao and his other brother, Zhang Liang, but upon approaching, he realized it was not the case.
One of them was a middle-aged Spirit with an ethereal presence despite being a Ghost Body. Upon seeing Lian Yun, he nodded and said, "You have already broken through the Eight Gates, but are you lacking in spiritual power for the final breakthrough?"
