It was clear that the situation was somewhat different from what Ye Kai had imagined.
He had thought that after the virus and System optimization, all Bio Warriors would be able to unlock Psychokinesis. If that were the case, wouldn't it be possible to create a large number of Psychic Corps?!
Unfortunately, reality was just that—reality.
However, it wasn't all bad news. At least according to the System's assessment, the current conditions were simply insufficient for such an enhancement.
Moreover, there was a lack of experimental data to derive an accurate value.
At this point, even Ye Kai found it difficult to comprehend his complex emotions.
Nevertheless, with Ye Yi and Ye Er's protection, as long as he wasn't clashing with the military, he was almost entirely safe.
"Sigh!"
After another deep breath, Ye Kai slowly spoke, "System, activate the wristbands of Ye Yi and Ye Er, and provide updates on the current situation in Raccoon City, as well as Gil Valentine's current location."
Once outside, Ye Kai discovered that the entire Mansion was in ruins. Blood was everywhere, as if a gruesome feast had taken place. The stench overwhelmed him, causing him to retch violently.
It was simply disgusting.
Entrails littered the ground alongside severed limbs and dismembered bodies. The grotesque colors of red and green mixed with countless remains painted a horrific scene, accompanied by an indescribable stench that filled the air.
Ye Kai could barely walk without gagging; eventually, Ye Yi picked him up and rushed him through a broken window.
Once he breathed in fresh air, he felt somewhat better, though his face remained pale and his body weak.
The foul odor was reminiscent of an old toilet that hadn't been cleaned in decades; just catching a whiff sent him reeling, leaving him dizzy and disoriented.
"Follow the instructions, we're heading to Raccoon City Cathedral," Ye Kai said weakly as he sat in a perfectly intact Ford Car.
"Understood, sir."
Ye Yi didn't hesitate at all; she started the engine and drove towards Raccoon City Cathedral, following the directions on her watch's map.
"Get inside!"
A good temporary refuge not only provided psychological comfort but also offered a place to recover Stamina. After all, no one knew how long this disaster would last!
"Find a place to hide!" Gil Valentine instructed, glancing back to scout the area.
She saw five or six staggering zombies approaching them from behind. By now, she had a decent understanding of the zombies' strengths and weaknesses. It was likely that their conversation had attracted nearby zombies, drawing them closer.
Terry and Payton quickened their pace, running awkwardly toward the church's main entrance.
Throughout this journey, they had already experienced the zombies' unpredictable nature and couldn't afford to let their guard down for even a moment.
Payton, already strained and injured, looked even worse after the long trek; he was more fatigued than ever. Yet he knew he couldn't rest—there was no telling what dangers lurked here.
Just as the three entered the Cathedral and closed the door behind them, a man suddenly jumped out, gun in hand, shouting frantically at them, "Get out! This is my hiding place!"
The man was on the brink of collapse. Faced with this hellish world, he was already tense and breathing heavily. The sudden appearance of three people sent him into a panic, soaking him in sweat.
Not only that, but his gun hand trembled nervously, his eyes filled with boundless fear and struggle.
"I think this place is quite spacious; there’s enough room for all of us!" Terry argued.
Perhaps she spoke the truth or maybe she simply hadn't thought it through. Still clinging to her pre-apocalyptic mindset, she appeared to others as nothing more than an idiot.
After silently cursing 'Bitch' in their hearts, Jill and Payton remained cautious, ensuring that they could subdue the man before them, who was on the brink of collapse, the moment he attempted to pull the trigger.
"Don't talk to me like that..." The man opened the safety and looked ready to break down!
"Enough! Calm down, put down the gun!" Payton suddenly shouted. Startled, the man quieted slightly. Payton took a step forward, locking eyes with him, and repeated slowly, "I will put down the gun!"
Perhaps it was Black Giant's intimidating physique or the reassurance provided by the police badge; whatever it was, the man seemed to exhale deeply, gradually calming down as he slowly lowered his weapon.
"And you!" The burly man turned to Terry and warned, "Don't do anything reckless!"
To him, this idiot woman’s earlier actions were downright suicidal. After all, they were facing a man who was at his breaking point and holding a gun!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The muffled sounds from outside the door instantly heightened the tension among the four inside Cathedral, especially for Andiel, who was still gripping his gun.
"Damn it, this is disgusting! Ye Yi, next time notice a bit! Look at that brain matter splattered on my shoes—it's revolting..."
Jill and Payton exchanged glances, both picturing a scene: a wealthy Young Master arriving here with a few bodyguards for refuge, but his obsessive cleanliness would make him unable to tolerate what lay before him. He would be furious!
"Hey, is anyone there?"
Ye Kai pushed open the door and immediately caught sight of Jill and Payton looking over. He smiled casually and added with a hint of complaint, "I mean there are people here, right? Look how friendly it is; I'm about to be driven mad by those idiots who only know how to scream."
Jill and Payton were left speechless; even Andiel relaxed his grip on his gun while Terry stood there dumbfounded.
"Ye Yi, go close the door—be careful and make sure it's secure."
As Ye Kai rubbed his stomach and muttered, "Ye Er, hurry up and bring out some food. I'm starving; how can this place look like such a mess after just two days?"
Jill was completely at a loss for words to describe the man before her, dressed head to toe in designer clothes.
Did he not realize that the world had changed? How could he still look like a Young Master, accompanied by bodyguards, and yet they were carrying several large bags of food?
But what was this…?
As she watched the Young Master pick up a bag of chips, a wave of frustration washed over her. Could this idiot really be here for a picnic!?
“Hey, come on over! Don’t be shy! It’s not every day you meet someone alive and breathing. Let’s celebrate…”
Everyone stared in shock as Ye Kai pulled a bottle of champagne from one of the large bags.
“Roar…”
A deep growl echoed through the air, instantly putting Jill and the others on high alert. Even Ye Kai froze, his hand still holding the champagne.
“Hey, don’t be scared! Come on, let’s eat and drink to keep our Stamina up.”
Ye Kai quickly opened several cans of beef and pulled out a large box of warm pizza. Finally, he retrieved some cups and poured the champagne.
This scene left everyone dumbfounded, as if they were watching an alien.
“Alright, I want to know who you are. And you should know that this world has changed. If you don’t…”
Before Jill could finish, Ye Yi suddenly dashed out to the center of the church, crouched down abruptly, and then leaped into the air.
“Whoosh!”
A flash of steel sliced through the air as Ye Yi landed with a thud. Moments later, a Licker fell to the ground, split in half but still twitching slightly, smashing into the church pews and scattering them everywhere.
“Olyxet!”
Payton exclaimed unconsciously, never expecting that the Young Master's bodyguard would be so formidable, almost like a superhero.
Jill understood now. Looking at the Young Master, who was still eating and drinking, it was no wonder he had such confidence to act so carefree.
So, she decided not to hold back any longer. She walked up, sat down, and grabbed a slice of pizza to eat.
“Hey, that’s the spirit!”
Ye Kai reached out with his greasy hand and called out, “You all shouldn’t just stand there. Come eat! It’s all warm, with meat and drinks…”
To be honest, he really admired Gil Valentine. If this woman could fuse with the virus, her strength would definitely rival Alice.
Thus, he disguised himself a bit. With his own demeanor and that slightly eccentric personality, he resembled some rich second-generation heirs quite well. And so, Young Master Ye was born.
From the looks of it, the effect was remarkably good; it quickly made the four of them lower their guard and relax.
