“Boom!!!”
Wood and Wen Changqing were fiercely battling the Mutated Werewolf, but just as they were getting into the fight, they suddenly felt the ground begin to tremble slightly. Then, a terrifying roar echoed through the air.
Wen Changqing nearly dropped his sword from the shock, and everyone around him, both humans and werewolves, fell to the ground.
Liu Changshan, with a scar across his face, the chubby Zhao Qi, and Wu Lao Liu, who had been puffing on his pipe, all looked in horror at the mountain peak several kilometers away.
“Bang!!!”
Another deafening roar shook the earth as if the entire land was quaking. Following that, a column of smoke shot up high into the sky, accompanied by a pillar of crimson lava erupting hundreds to thousands of meters high.
“Is this a volcanic eruption?”
Wood muttered instinctively before suddenly exclaiming in alarm, “This is bad! Ye Kai is still in Victor's castle!”

With a palm strike, he sent a falling rock flying away. Ye Kai halted abruptly, his dagger swirling in his hand as he deflected stone fragments flying at him like bullets and arrows.

At that moment, he suddenly spun around, transforming into several spiraling afterimages that vanished from sight.

A faint sound of wind passed through the air, and the members of the Vampire Knights clad in silver armor suddenly felt a chill at their necks. Blood sprayed forth as they fell one by one.
"Die, all of you!!!"
Ye Kai felt a surge of irritation, his form resembling a black phantom, sometimes as light as a flying swallow as he darted past knight after knight. In an instant, fountains of blood erupted from their necks.
Meanwhile, Victor had also gone mad, charging forward with several elite knights by his side.
"Thud, clang!!!"
Watching the fools rushing to their deaths, Ye Kai scoffed disdainfully. He crouched low and surged forward, swiftly severing the necks of two knights while simultaneously kicking Victor away.
He would never refuse such opportunities for Evolution Points. With a cold laugh, he gripped his dagger tightly and plunged back into the fray.
Screams filled the air, and the sound of blood splattering echoed around him. In just three short minutes, he had already taken down at least thirty Vampire Knights.
"Stop!!!"
Victor's eyes widened in rage as he watched his carefully cultivated subordinates fall one by one. In his fury, he couldn't help but feel a pang of sorrow; facing such a terrifying enemy, despair was creeping in.
His castle was utterly lost, and the thought of all his possessions—his weapons and treasures—made him feel faint with anguish.
Although as long as he was alive, he would surely rise again, witnessing the complete annihilation of the Death Knight Legion he had painstakingly built brought him to the brink of madness.
Suddenly, he gasped in shock as three Subordinates were sent flying through the air, crashing to the ground with deep indentations in their chests, large chunks of internal organs spilling from their mouths.
Ye Kai let out a cold laugh and continued to transform into a specter of death. In just a moment, half of the entire Death Knight Legion had already lost its elite members.
Just as he prepared to eliminate most of the vampires, leaving only Victor and his group, a rare look of confusion crossed his face as he turned towards the misty direction of the Gorge on their left.
"How can there be more people coming? What a strange aura! Could it be related to the Volcanic Eruption?"
"How could there be Missionaries here? The area around the castle is filled with Mutated Werewolves. How would they come here?" Victor was also bewildered, and when he saw someone dressed like a Missionary, his expression changed drastically, mixed with confusion.
A group of over ten people halted their strange carriage while others rode horses, quickly approaching them.
Soon, as they drew closer, their figures were fully revealed.
It turned out to be a tall man clad in a black linen robe. He wore a hood that obscured the upper half of his face, revealing only a pair of silver-gray eyes and a few strands of silvery hair.
The man stopped about ten meters away from them. He glanced at Ye Kai, who held daggers in both hands, before fixing his gaze directly on Victor, who was surrounded by numerous Vampire Knights.
“Count Victor, may I ask what has happened in the direction of the castle? Is there still a path leading to the Distant Mountain Monastery?”
“Who are you?” Victor asked, his nerves taut; there could be no room for carelessness at this moment. He stepped forward and spoke loudly.
The stranger did not answer but simply looked towards Ye Kai.
"Are you going to the Monastery? Can you tell me why?" Ye Kai smiled lightly.
Unbeknownst to him, the figure before him, cloaked and masked, suddenly emanated an aura of grimness, giving off a strangely different vibe.
It was somewhat reminiscent of a battle-hardened warrior who had long walked the line of death.
Ye Kai observed the unmoved individual, still waiting for an answer, and couldn't help but narrow his eyes.
A prison cart, the Monastery?
A sense of foreboding crept into his mind.
In truth, Ye Kai had already formed some guesses about the overarching background of this world, but he hadn't expected an unexpected turn of events. Perhaps it was even a rather unremarkable side plot!
Maybe it was because he had intervened that what should have been merely a basic novice quest mode had been forcefully transformed into its current state.
Based on divine deduction and simulation, he was eighty percent sure that this side plot should be related to the Witching Season, though it had diverged significantly from the original due to numerous variables.
Ye Kai sighed. "Witch or demon?"
Nerun tensed up, a violent killing intent surging within him, leaving him feeling somewhat uncertain.
