With the treasure in hand and enemies approaching from behind, there was no reason to linger in this place. Ye Kai casually tossed several grenades down the corridor he had come from, listening with a cold smile to the distant shouts and curses before lightly jumping into the pit.
"Boom Boom Boom!!!"
A series of earth-shattering explosions erupted, causing the entire corridor to collapse in an instant. The terrifying flames surged within the confined space, instantly blasting three figures dressed in Moonlight White Robes into the air, their internal organs spewing forth.
For someone like Ye Kai, who practiced cultivation, he held a deep-seated fear of these individuals. Moreover, they were clearly aware of his presence, making a confrontation inevitable. It was better to strike hard and fast.
Though he was not afraid of them, if he could set up some obstacles and take out a few, why not?
At this point, it was already a fight to the death. Even if he didn’t acquire any treasure, those people would not let him go; after all, this was truly a Death Arena where senseless slaughter was all too common.
After burying a few Heat-Sensing Mines and setting up several traps, he let out another cold laugh and quickly left the area.
He glanced around casually and raised his hand to cast several runes, intending to leave this place.
But just then, his movements suddenly halted. His gaze swept across the ground again, and his brow furrowed. The calm smile on his face was replaced by a dark and ominous expression.
His immense Divine Sense, surpassing the Heart-Moving Stage, suddenly expanded like a storm sweeping through. He then turned solemnly towards a dark area where light could not reach.
"Fellow Daoists, have you seen enough?" Ye Kai said coldly into the darkness.
Previously, he had thought himself cautious enough. With the Nano Flying Insects at his disposal, he had searched for several minutes without spotting anyone. Yet at that moment, he felt a ripple of magical energy that immediately put him on high alert.
Clearly, these individuals had entered through some passage in that dark area; he just didn’t know what their relationship was with the enemies behind him!
To deal with any potential pursuers, he had just set up nearly twenty Heat-Sensing Mines and spent several minutes in this vast hall, gaining a rough impression of his surroundings.
Thanks to the magical energy fluctuations revealed by the newcomers when they first saw him here, he was able to detect signs of outsiders arriving almost immediately.
At the same time, he gathered some useful information. For instance, there were many reliefs on the ceiling of this hall depicting fierce battles between grotesque monsters and cultivators, along with many strange symbols that were incomprehensible.
He was certain that there were valuable items here; so what about these people...
"Come out if you're going to! White Face, what do you want?"
As soon as Ye Kai's words fell, a booming voice shouted back.
Accompanied by a sound, a middle-aged man with a thick beard leaped out of the darkness, reminding one of a gorilla with his robust physique. Perched on his shoulder was an old man, frail and puffing on a pipe.
The old man was almost the size of a six or seven-year-old child, resembling a dwarf. Behind them followed a young man with a wary expression, as if he had been forcibly dragged out by the giant.
It seemed he had been desperately trying to dissuade the giant, not wanting to provoke his volatile temper, which led to the current scene.
What do you want?
Although Ye Kai did not respond, a cold smile appeared on his face after hearing the words, and his gaze was as calm and still as a deep pool of water.
At that moment, rustling sounds emerged from the darkness, and another man along with two women stepped forward to stand in line with the giant.
Ye Kai's Divine Sense swept across again, confirming that there were no other people besides the five in front of him. He then discreetly instructed his Nano Flying Insects to circle around for a closer look before finally focusing on them.
The cultivation levels of these six individuals were all around the initial stage of Heartfelt. The old man smoking on the giant's shoulder was slightly stronger but still limited, roughly at the Initial Stage of Heart Movement level. Among the last three to emerge, the scholarly-looking young man was the weakest, yet there was a flickering Treasure Light surrounding him.
The two women appeared to be enchanting figures, dressed in flamboyant and somewhat revealing attire, making Ye Kai immediately realize that they must be disciples of the 'Harmony Sect.'
From their clothing, it was evident that the giant, the old man, and the scholar all harbored faint traces of Demonic Energy within them. Clearly, these six had come together and were looking at him with smiles that promised trouble ahead.
Ye Kai dared not expect any moral awakening from Demonic Path practitioners or any adherence to traditions against bullying the weak.
Moreover, judging by their camaraderie, it was apparent they shared a close bond; otherwise, in No Return Valley, even fellow sect members could rarely be trusted—let alone in an obviously ancient relic like this Underground Palace.
Such circumstances were not surprising; they likely knew each other before becoming cultivators but had simply joined different Sects or fallen under various elders of their original clan.
Loose Cultivators often faced difficulties in their training and typically had only two types of relationships: either they were extremely close due to frequent life-and-death situations—much closer than some brothers raised together in Sects—or they were utterly indifferent, harboring no trust for anyone or anything.
The six before him clearly belonged to the former category.
As thoughts raced through his mind, Ye Kai flicked his robe sleeve back and clasped his hands behind him. He coldly asked, "Did you all see what just happened?"
The old man sitting on the giant's shoulder frowned and was about to say something when he was completely drowned out by the giant's loud voice.
"Damn it! So what if we saw? You little wimp! I haven't provoked you yet; you're just throwing yourself into danger! If you had been smart enough to offer up your treasures while Elder Heart was in a good mood just now..."
At this point, with a clang, an iron sword emanating black mist flew out from behind the giant. "Just kill him! Old man, you're just a nuisance. With our six siblings together, what do we have to fear?"
As the last words fell, the massive Black Iron Sword came crashing down towards Ye Kai.
After hearing his words, Ye Kai showed no signs of anger; he merely smiled disdainfully. With a casual flick of his wrist, a white blade, a meter wide, sliced through the air to meet the descending Black Iron Sword.
Why waste more words?
Even if they hadn’t seen the traps he had set, with this one strike, there was no way for him and these people to coexist peacefully.
It was a matter of life and death.
This is what it means to be a cultivator; this is the illogical reason for slaughter in No Return Valley!
Moreover, whether they saw his landmines or the Nano Flying Insects, such advanced technology was best kept secret. Even if he were to reveal everything, he would undoubtedly face the fate of being silenced.
One must understand that there are far too many people in this world who are stronger than him.
Given that, when faced with the choice of being silenced or silencing others, was there really any need for hesitation?
With this thought, a glint of cold light flashed in Ye Kai's eyes, and his killing intent surged.
