Five people, four men and one woman, were engaged in battle, yet a portion of their attention was still directed towards Ye Kai.
Had he not encountered Ge Quan Yang and the others, Ye Kai might have already moved on. However, at this moment, he had someone who could provide him with information, so he paid little mind to the group.
Thus, he merely glanced over, gauged their strength, and then turned to walk in the opposite direction.
It was quite simple for Ye Kai to assess their abilities. Aside from their Divine Sense that far exceeded the Heart-Moving Stage, he noted whether their magical energy was smooth and cohesive when they attacked.
Although they were stronger than ordinary cultivators, they lacked powerful magical artifacts, and their techniques did not possess any Divine Abilities. Therefore, they posed no real threat.
The Heart-Moving Stage was at its peak, which was the stage Ye Kai currently occupied.
His aura was now refined and stable, unlike the instability he had experienced during the early and mid-stages of Heartfelt cultivation.
"Hey, you guys! Don't go!"
Seeing someone appear, a cultivator at the Late Stage of Heart Movement became anxious. He wore an unusual outfit with a metal shoulder guard on his left shoulder and an oval chest plate over his heart.
Holding a blade that resembled crystal—the Iron-Cutting Blade—half a foot wide and a foot long, he leaped into the fray of Bone Skeleton Soldiers with a fierce shout. His powerful blade light shone like a brilliant ribbon as it effortlessly shattered seven or eight Bone Skeleton Soldiers.
At that moment, the others also exerted their strength. In just a breath or two, more than ten Bone Skeleton Soldiers lay defeated on the ground, leaving only one Black Skeleton gasping for breath.
The man suddenly jumped back, swinging his Iron-Cutting Blade in a wide arc. With a loud crash, he cleaved the Black Skeleton Soldier in half. Using the recoil from the strike, he propelled himself towards the direction where Ye Kai had turned.
Ye Kai frowned slightly.
Once again, this condescending tone—had these cultivators been completely blinded by malevolence since entering No Return Valley?
However, having weathered many storms himself, he felt irritated internally but maintained a calm demeanor on the surface.
"Do you really think This Sect is easy to bully, that you can manipulate us at will?!"
Ye Kai let out a cold laugh, his black eyes suddenly widening, filling his entire gaze. The man in the strange attire immediately sensed trouble; he moved swiftly, raising a massive Iron-Cutting Blade to shield himself.
"Clang!!!"
With a muffled grunt, the man's expression changed drastically as he was sent flying, the overwhelming force erupting and scattering bones across the ground. Moments later, calm returned to the area.
The group of onlookers was taken aback, their gazes shifting to one of concern.
"Please hold on, friend! We were rude earlier! Can we resolve this matter amicably, considering we are all lost souls here?!" After stumbling to his feet, the man’s face paled several times before he forced a smile, appearing sincere.
Yet inside, he felt a sinking dread as he began to plot.
A smiling face can still hide a cunning mind!
Ye Kai nodded slightly, but inwardly he scoffed. He wanted to see what tricks these people would play; if necessary, he could simply eliminate them all.
Though he thought this way, he did not stop moving. Once Ge Quan and Yang Shun caught up with him, he set off again. Gathering all the information about this Endless Palace was his primary goal; he had no time to waste on these people.
However, if they were foolish enough to provoke him—hmph!!!
"Wait a moment! Endless Palace only allows entry and no exit unless you obtain a credential. Moreover, there are many treasures here. Since we will be stuck here for the next month, why not trade some treasures we don’t need? What do you think?"
Perhaps sensing Ye Kai's defiance or perhaps due to their own strength, the man took a few steps forward but then halted. Having cultivated to such a level, he had seen all kinds of people; even Ye Kai's cold arrogance did not faze him. Instead, he smiled and spoke earnestly.
Ge Quan and Yang Shun, upon encountering several cultivators who were clearly not weaker than themselves, immediately tensed up. They exchanged glances and then closely followed behind Ye Kai, presenting themselves as his subordinates.
The opposing group scrutinized Ge Quan and Yang Shun, smirking with amusement. "So, do you know of a safe chamber? However, reaching it safely will require some assistance. Of course, we also have some newly acquired treasures that might be of help to you!"
"Take this for example..."
The man brushed his waist, flipped his hands, and a long sword of pale blue hue appeared in his grasp. The blade was ancient in design, a water-blue color, with two strange symbols engraved on it. A chilling aura emanated from it, making it clear at first glance that it was a top-tier magical weapon.
"What do you think of this top-tier magical weapon? Both the crafting technique and the material itself are exceptional. It possesses solid and sharp characteristics. We obtained this in the last secret chamber."
"With just one strike, a Bone Skeleton Soldier will be frozen into an ice block, and all we need in exchange are a few bottles of Healing Elixir or perhaps just a Cultivation Technique Manual or a Defensive Artifact..."
The man, who initially appeared fierce and robust—probably in his teens with a light yellow complexion—suddenly broke into a grin, transforming into a weapon merchant as he introduced his wares to Ye Kai and the others.
This abrupt change did not draw any surprised glances from the others; instead, they all wore expressions of vigilance and caution.
"I'm not interested!"
Ye Kai scoffed, dismissing the offer. He could have as many of these items as he wanted; they held no value for him!
Perhaps the man noticed that they lacked any obvious offensive magical weapons on their persons, prompting him to make such an approach. He was likely testing whether they had acquired any treasures and gauging their strength to see if he could strike—kill and seize their valuables!
In either case, he must have thought he could profit from it.
Unfortunately for him, Ye Kai was no fool. After everything he had been through, he no longer believed in falling into easy traps. Without further ado, he turned to leave.
"Don't go! I have other magical weapons that will definitely satisfy you!" The man's expression faltered for a moment before he deftly stepped in front of Ye Kai as if teleporting, pulling out a metallic longbow to continue his pitch.
"Smack!"
Ye Kai halted in his tracks.
"Ugh!"
A low, rumbling growl echoed faintly behind him, reminiscent of a lion or tiger preparing to launch an attack.
“Whoosh!!”
Suddenly, a swift and sharp force surged toward him.
He abruptly raised his head, and Ye Kai's Dual Eyes had already transformed into a deep, dark void. A massive arrow, over two meters long, shot toward his face. He could almost see the smug and sinister expression on his assailant's face.
A surge of murderous intent flooded Ye Kai's heart. He stood his ground, his left hand forming a knife-like palm as he met the arrow head-on. The moment their forces collided, the arrow shattered while he was pushed back a step.
“Bang!”
A dull thud resonated through the corridor, carrying an echo far and wide.
Ye Kai was jolted back a step, his rear foot crushing a fragment of bone beneath him into powder. Then, an icy wave of killing intent surged forth, shaking the entire passage with a thunderous roar.
A massive vortex, like a black hole, erupted around him. Before the shattered arrow even hit the ground, it was torn into countless fragments by an overwhelming force, scattering like dust.
“You're truly seeking death…”
