"What should we do?!"
Ge Quan furrowed his brows, sensing that Ye Kai definitely knew something, but for some reason, he didn't want to share it.
"We should leave, follow me!!!"
Yang Baishun's eyes darted around before he quickly decided to get out of there. Ge Quan could guess a few things, and being a clever person, Yang Baishun was well aware of the situation. However, since most of their strength relied on Ge Quan, he enjoyed his role as the 'strategist.'
As for Wolf Cypress, at this moment, he was no longer spirited; he was completely terrified. Seeing Ye Kai run away, he didn't want to wait another second. After all, the unknown was what truly frightened him!
He immediately chimed in, "Let's go! Look, those talismans are already starting to glow. If we don't leave now, we're done for."
With that, he transformed into a streak of silver light and dashed toward the passage where Ye Kai had disappeared, clearly desperate to escape.
"Follow him!" Yang Baishun said as he glanced at Wolf Cypress's retreating figure, a faint smile appearing at the corner of his mouth. "This guy finally took off first. We should follow him too. Right now, we still need to rely on that 'freak,' but to him, we are dispensable. So it's better for us to keep a low profile."
Ge Quan gritted his teeth and furrowed his brows. He reached to his waist and threw out a dozen jade talismans that emitted a faint halo. Without hesitation, the two exchanged glances and smiled.
Just as they rushed into the passage, the dilapidated hall began to tremble violently; both jade and paper talismans started to act erratically. "Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Almost at the moment when the hall collapsed with a thunderous roar, a blood-red shadow suddenly surged in, only to be violently thrown back by a powerful explosion.
...
Ye Kai sped away but felt no sense of triumph. He silently counted in his mind; after sensing the tremors beneath his feet, his eyes sparkled with intensity as he abruptly came to a halt.
Upon reaching this point, he suddenly noticed that the Forty-Two Landscape Paintings began to ripple with waves. A peculiar aura compelled him to stop; he couldn't understand what was happening at that moment.
But one thing was certain: somewhere ahead lay something that was very important to him and to the Landscape Paintings.
"Eh?"
Wolf Cypress was the first to catch up, but he dared not get too close. Instead, he stopped ten meters away and cautiously asked, "What... why aren't we moving?"
Two Spirit Lights flickered next, and upon seeing the two figures ahead, Yang Baishun's expression changed instantly. His eyes darted around as he asked, "There isn't going to be some huge trouble ahead, is there?"
Ge Quan stepped forward with a tingling sensation at the back of his head, staring into the deep, labyrinthine passage that seemed to stretch on endlessly, wearing a bitter smile.
However, Ye Kai did not respond to them. Instead, he stood aside, running his hand along the stone wall. After a moment, he furrowed his brow and said in a low voice, "That guy behind us is catching up quickly. There will definitely be a fork in the road ahead, and whether our deal is still valid depends on you."
He spoke slowly, but his tone was unusually grave. As soon as he finished speaking, he leaped forward again, leaving only his back behind without any intention of looking back.
Ge Quan and Yang Baishun exchanged glances filled with intense shock. Not daring to delay any longer, they transformed into Spirit Lights and hurried after him.
As for Wolf Cypress, he cast a bitter glance back before lunging forward and transforming into a Silver Giant Wolf, racing madly ahead.
It felt as if thousands of she-wolves were relentlessly pursuing him from behind.
Feeling the sound of rushing air behind him, Ye Kai's face remained calm and unruffled, revealing no hint of emotion. Yet inside, he was calculating that these three had some value for him.
At the same time, they could serve as decent helpers; it was just unfortunate that a fork in the road had already appeared ahead. These three would definitely not follow him any longer.
In truth, he never expected to encounter such a terrifying monster in this place.
Previously, with just a single strike, he had obliterated one of the Nano Flying Insects and completely lost contact with WIKI.
The only thing he could be certain of was that the skeletal figure clad in silver bone armor, wielding a blood-red longsword, was undoubtedly a formidable opponent.
Even he was reluctant to attempt to take it down easily.
"Just as I thought!"
Ye Kai furrowed his brow. The three figures behind him had split off at the intersection moments ago and did not follow him. "In that case, I have no need to hold back."
With a cold smile, he turned and soared forward, scattering hundreds of Grenades and talismans along the way.
"Boom Boom Boom!"
The violent explosions echoed for miles, shaking the ground and causing the passage to collapse, unleashing terrifying Flame Shockwaves that erupted wildly.
Even from dozens of miles away, he could feel a faint Shockwave; however, this alone posed no threat to him at this moment.
Once that creature realized this path was blocked, whether it chose to pursue the solitary Wolf Cypress or chase after Ge Quan and Yang Baishun, their fate would be nothing short of tragic.
"Lord God, let’s go!" The three projections of WIKI suddenly appeared.
Ye Kai nodded and casually released thousands of Nano Flying Insects, sending them ahead to scout the path. After all, the closer they got to that unknown location, the denser the energy from the Forty-Two Landscape Paintings became.
Then, he leaped into the air and followed closely behind.
An hour had passed, and he had consecutively blown up three long corridors. It was safe to say that whatever was pursuing him would not catch up anymore. He had arrived at a vast space, larger and quieter than any he had encountered before.
Ye Kai stared blankly at everything before him, his mind filled with uncertainty. This place could no longer be described as a grand hall; it was simply a masterpiece of nature.
As far as the eye could see, the stone pillars were at least several dozen meters thick, and he couldn't even begin to count how many there were.
After a moment, he released WIKI's current form and took out several flying devices along with Combat Robots. He instructed, "Split into teams and investigate the situation here. Activate the Multifunctional Detector immediately."
"Understood, Lord God," WIKI replied promptly, data streams flashing in its eyes.
With a whoosh, fist-sized silver metal objects shot out from the flying devices. After a slight tremor, blue and green scanning beams began to sweep across the area, dispersing in an instant.
Ye Kai slowly ascended to see if this seemingly infinite space had a ceiling.
Meanwhile, WIKI returned to the entrance to set up defenses. After secretly planting numerous Heat-Sensing Mines, it jumped down without hesitation.
The entrance was quite high above the ground. Although there were long stone steps leading down, neither Ye Kai nor WIKI chose to descend step by step.
A series of faint vibrations echoed as the Multifunctional Detector illuminated the surroundings like countless radiant suns, revealing every detail within dozens of miles.
At that moment, Ye Kai took a deep breath. He was incredibly curious about this place. While he was certain that the ceiling of this space would be high, he never expected it to be this high.
The height reached a staggering three thousand meters, enough to scare anyone.
This was only because he had not continued to ascend, as a thick layer of swirling gray-black mist had already appeared above.
As for the sides and the distant front, he could only see a deep void.
“Lord God, within a fifty-mile radius, not only have we not detected any life forms, but even the energy fluctuations are very weak. I have ordered the Nano Flying Insects to scout further out, but there are no findings so far.”
WIKI was also a bit curious; this feeling was unfamiliar to her, yet she found it delightful because it was an emotion that only true 'life' could possess.
Ye Kai waved his hand, signaling her to make her own decision. He then took out a Landscape Painting and remarked, “This thing has started emitting strange waves; the further we go, the stronger those waves become!”
Standing on the enlarged Crane Song Sword, he opened three projection maps. The area they could detect turned out to be merely a narrow path, with broader black regions on both sides that had yet to be explored.
They continued to fly forward slowly, and Ye Kai had no idea where this path would lead.
“WIKI, split off a team ahead to accelerate. In addition to analyzing various energy fluctuations, also analyze the scents in the air. Every kilometer, throw out a Holy Light Rune Stone and stay alert,” Ye Kai instructed.
“Understood, Lord God,” WIKI nodded. “Are you worried that Silver Skeletons might appear here?”
“In such strange ruins that may contain hidden treasures, anything could happen.”
Ye Kai shook his head in denial. “In such an open space, it’s definitely not simple. Even if there are creatures stronger than Silver Skeletons, I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m just thinking that perhaps we’re close to finding our way out!”
Hearing this, WIKI tilted her head in thought and didn’t respond, which piqued Ye Kai's curiosity and made him glance at her a few more times.
The two of them walked and paused intermittently, encountering no traps or creatures along the way. Occasionally, they came across massive stone statues deeply embedded in the ground, most of which were already cracked.
At first glance, one couldn't help but wonder if a gentle touch would shatter them into pieces.
After more than half an hour, Ye Kai finally grew a bit impatient. He turned back to see that the light source from behind was gradually fading away. Urging the pathfinding robot to quicken its speed, he suppressed his frustration and continued onward.
Finally, after nearly three hundred miles, a massive stone door appeared ahead, towering dozens of meters high and adorned with intricate patterns that shimmered endlessly. The door stood ajar, and a series of footprints were clearly visible in the dust on the ground.
Even more bizarrely, two lines of text were engraved on the enormous stone doors, eight characters in total.
Ye Kai leaned closer to examine it carefully, his brow furrowing once again.
"Endless Palace, Tomb of the King."
"What does this mean?"
The term "Endless Palace" suggested that there was no end in any direction—up, down, left, right, or forward. Ye Kai had even tried retracing his steps but could no longer find the grand hall they had entered before.
It seemed that this underground maze world was constantly shifting; not only the paths but even the very space itself appeared to be in flux.
