Living Funeral
Upon hearing Gao Qing's words, I immediately turned my head to look, only to see Hua standing behind me, his face covered in blood, and a knife in his hand that I didn't notice he had picked up.
In the moment I turned, Hua lunged at me with the knife, moving quickly. I couldn't dodge in time and felt the blade pierce my back.
Damn it, I cursed in pain and kicked out without hesitation, sending Hua crashing to the ground.
The light was dim at that moment.
I pulled the knife out; fortunately, it was a type with a thin blade, so it hadn't penetrated too deeply, but I was still bleeding.
Gao Qing had already moved towards the fallen Hua, pressing his knees down on Hua's legs and pinning his hands with both of his own.
I pressed my hand against my back and quickly moved forward. My hand was now soaked in blood as I hastily wrote the two characters "Decree."
Hua reacted violently but couldn't break free. Before long, he passed out.
Gao Qing looked at me in surprise and asked if I was okay.
I replied that I was fine and suggested we take him outside.
Gao Qing nodded and picked up Hua, heading toward the exit. At that moment, I could already hear Gao Ling's voice.
I glanced around the Mortuary and felt an unsettling presence, as if there were unseen eyes watching me intently.
So I asked aloud, "Is anyone there?"
But no one answered. I shone the flashlight around, but saw nothing.
On the contrary, the cold air here was becoming increasingly unbearable for me.
At that moment, Gao Ling called out to me and walked over.
“Fei, let’s go. We shouldn’t stay in this cursed place any longer,” Gao Ling said.
I nodded, as I had sustained some injuries myself. After we got out of here, we could head to the hospital to take care of my wounds.
Once I had treated my injuries, Gao Qing said, “The treatment at the hospital won’t be effective for Hua Gen; it’s better to take him back.”
I agreed.
In the car, Hua turned to me and I realized I had found a way to save him.
Gao Ling eagerly asked, “What’s the method?”
After looking at me for a moment, Gao Qing replied, “Use your blood. I’ve noticed that your blood has a suppressive effect on Hua, so using your blood might just save him.”
Uncle Liang immediately spoke up, pleading with me.
I fell silent for a moment before asking Gao Qing, “Will it really work?”
Gao Qing responded, “If I’m not mistaken, it should be fine.”
In fact, during the process of capturing Hua, I had already discovered that my blood had a suppressive effect on him.
Moreover, it seemed like someone had just whispered in my ear...
I took a deep breath and said, if possible, let's give it a try.
After arriving at Uncle Liang's house, Hua was tied up again, but not as tightly as before.
Uncle Liang wiped the blood off Hua's face with a towel.
Seeing Hua made me involuntarily recall the scene of him eating the dead man's eyes earlier.
This brat is truly ruthless. I placed the blood into a bowl, and Gao Qing mixed it with glutinous rice and garlic to make something for Hua to drink.
After drinking it, Hua immediately began to vomit, expelling the dead man's eyes along with everything else.
Gao Ling exclaimed in shock, "What on earth did he eat? It couldn't have been a corpse from the mortuary, could it?"
Neither Gao Qing nor I responded. Uncle Liang quickly took away the vomit.
Gao Qing said, "There's dark energy between his eyebrows; it's clear he's been possessed by something evil. It seems that the cinnabar between his brows has indeed been nurturing evil energy."
I placed a band-aid on my finger.
Gao Qing picked up the bowl containing my blood and glanced at it before surprisingly tasting my blood. Seeing this made me want to question whether Gao Qing was some kind of pervert.
However, Gao Qing quickly remarked, "Why is your blood mixed with both Yin Qi and Yang Qi? It seems like it's half of each."
I also didn't understand what Yin Qi and Yang Qi were.
Seeing that I remained silent, Gao Qing said to Gao Ling, "Quickly take the blood from the rooster and soak it in Aged Glutinous Rice. You need to be fast."
Gao Ling had almost lost her temper from being bossed around by Gao Qing these past few days.
Not understanding what taking blood meant, I asked a question.
Gao Qing replied seriously, "Taking blood means drawing blood from the rooster, but you mustn't let it die."
Noticing my lingering confusion, Gao Qing added, "This blood is just right for countering Evil Energy."
I responded with an "oh," indicating that I understood.
However, it might be even better if we used your blood. Gao Qing concluded with this remark.
Gao Ling quickly brought over the bowl of rooster's blood soaked in Glutinous Rice, and Gao Qing instructed her to press the bowl of blood against Hua's forehead.
Gao Ling complied swiftly but still grumbled, "Why do you have to say everything in bits and pieces, Gao Qing? It makes me feel exhausted!"
Gao Qing replied, "You can handle these tasks."
Left speechless by her younger sister's retort, Gao Ling had no choice but to obediently follow Gao Qing's instructions.
Meanwhile, Uncle Liang watched from the side, his face filled with worry.
Gao Qing said to Gao Ling, "No matter how intense Hua's reaction is in a moment, you must not let go of your hand."
Gao Ling replied that it was no problem.
Not long after Gao Qing spoke, he made Hua drink my blood.
In less than a second, Hua suddenly reacted, leaving everyone stunned.
Hua began to scream in agony, the sound chilling to the bone. Gao Ling pressed down hard on the blood bowl, and at that moment, I noticed that the blood inside the bowl was slowly coagulating.
Gao Ling's expression also began to twist, and he said to me, "Brother Fei, let's switch."
Of course, I refused to switch and ignored Gao Ling.
Before long, I saw a wisp of white smoke slowly rising. However, I knew it wasn't smoke; it resembled steam rising from boiling water...
At this moment, Gao Qing appeared very calm. Then, in the next second, something astonishing happened.
A black worm crawled out of Hua's nostril, slowly making its way out before Gao Qing swiftly knocked it to the ground and stomped on it.
Then Gao Qing said to Gao Ling, "Remove the bowl."
Upon hearing this, Gao Ling quickly withdrew his hand, and we saw a crimson dot appearing on Hua's forehead that looked like fresh blood.
Gao Qing exclaimed, "It's truly cinnabar nurturing evil!" He then dipped his hand into Glutinous Rice Water and wiped away the cinnabar that had been forced out of Hua's body.
At that moment, beads of sweat appeared on Hua's forehead.
Uncle Liang was also extremely nervous. He had been holding back his words, but now he finally asked, "Qing, how is Hua doing?"
Gao Qing replied, "Uncle Liang, Hua should be fine now. You don't need to worry too much. It seems that Hua was cursed by someone and then possessed by Cinnabar. That's why an Evil Bug grew inside him. Now that Cinnabar has been forced out, the Evil Bug has also been cleared away, so Hua should be alright."
At this point, Gao Qing had already started to untie the hemp rope.
I thought to myself that once Hua wakes up, I should see if I can ask him for any clues.
Why had Hua been continuously drawing that pattern? Someone must have been guiding him.
Uncle Liang was taking care of Hua while Gao Ling let out a sigh of relief and said, "This matter is finally resolved."
We hadn't rested well over the past few days, and it was already quite late. Uncle Liang tidied up the room and suggested we go get some rest.
After the exhausting days, I really hadn't slept well, so I didn't refuse. I collapsed onto the bed, thought about the issues for a while, but eventually succumbed to sleep.
As I drifted off, I felt someone approaching me.
When I opened my eyes, I immediately locked gazes with someone. I asked, "What are you doing?"
I turned on the light in the room and discovered Gao Qing standing there.
Gao Qing showed an awkward expression before forcing a smile and said, "I wasn't doing anything. I was just curious about you, so I came to take a look."
I: ...
It was still dark, and yet here he was, coming to see me. If it wasn't for some ulterior motive, it would be unusual.
I stared at Gao Qing in silence, waiting for him to speak. After a short while, Gao Qing finally said, "Well, I'm just curious about what's in your backpack."
I replied curtly that it was none of his business.
Gao Qing's smile immediately vanished. I got up and left the room, pulling out my phone to check the time—it was already five in the morning.
Just as I was about to put my phone back in my pocket, it vibrated in my hand, and I saw a new message.
