The morgue was filled with many corpses, but fortunately, the bed in front of us was empty. 0

I thought for a moment that Fu Yan had taken me to the wrong place, so I asked, "Where is his body?" Fu Yan's expression grew increasingly grim. 0

However, he quickly sprang into action, pulling back nearly all the white sheets in the morgue. I followed along, but I did not see Brother Li's body anywhere. 0

Fu Yan muttered to himself, "How could it be? The body was here just last night." 0

He then made a phone call, which connected quickly. "Uncle Qin," Fu Yan said, "can you come over? There's been a problem." 0

After a brief conversation, Fu Yan hung up. About five minutes later, Uncle Qin appeared—the elderly man I had seen when I first entered the morgue. 0

Fu Yan said, "Uncle Qin, the body that was here last night is missing. Do you know anything about it?" 0

Uncle Qin, wearing reading glasses and balding, scratched his head and replied, "Fu, what was the name of your deceased?" 0

"Li Qiang," Fu Yan answered. 0

Uncle Qin thought for a moment before saying, "That can't be right; the body should still be in this morgue. No one has touched it. It was delivered around eleven last night, correct?" 0

"Yes," Fu Yan confirmed. 0

Uncle Qin began searching around the room but found nothing. "Hmm! This is strange," he said as he scratched his head again. 0

Fu Yan suggested, "Could it be that the body was moved to another cooler or someone took it away?" 0

Uncle Qin shook his head. "That's impossible. I've worked here for decades and have never made such a mistake. Each cooler is accounted for." He added, "I'll go check on the computer; wait for me a moment." 0

Fu Yan quickly agreed, and I asked him, "Are you sure the body was delivered last night?" 0

He replied, "I personally delivered the body; there’s absolutely no mistake. If there’s an error, it must have happened here in the Morgue." 0

At that moment, we were both in the morgue, feeling a chilling presence around us. 0

Suddenly, I thought, what if Brother Li got up and walked away by himself? The more I thought about it, the more terrified I became, and I felt that possibility was quite high. 0

Damn, if the same thing happened again, it would truly be horrifying. 0

I turned to Fu Yan and said, "Can we check the surveillance footage?" 0

Fu Yan looked at me and said, "Let’s wait until Uncle Qin arrives." I nodded in agreement. 0

I felt a bit anxious but couldn’t help asking Fu Yan, "Were you absolutely certain that Li Qiang was dead at that time?" 0

Fu Yan responded, "Are you questioning our professionalism?" 0

I quickly shook my head to deny it. Fu Yan continued, "First of all, the body was found submerged in water; it had already begun to decompose. Do you think someone like that is still alive?" 0

His question left me speechless. Logically speaking, there was no doubt he was dead. 0

Yet, I still felt uneasy inside. 0

Noticing my silence, Fu Yan went on, "Secondly, the body was examined by an experienced forensic doctor who has worked at the police station for over twenty years. The confirmation of death is beyond doubt. Do you have any further questions?" 0

I shook my head to indicate that I had nothing more to say. If the body had gone through such thorough procedures and was assessed by professionals who frequently deal with corpses, they should be quite confident in determining whether someone is dead. 0

When I first discovered Brother Li's body, I hadn’t even dared to approach it; I was completely terrified. 0

If compared, Fu Yan was definitely more convincing. 0

After waiting for a moment, Uncle Qin walked over and said, "That's right! The registration in the computer is right here, and no one has come by during that time." 0

It was around eleven in the morning, and the sunlight outside was bright. 0

Fu Yan thought for a moment and said, "Uncle Qin, can we check the surveillance footage?" 0

Uncle Qin suddenly exclaimed, "You don't suspect that the body was stolen, do you?" Fu Yan replied, "It's not impossible." 0

Uncle Qin understood the seriousness of the situation and took us to view the surveillance footage. However, when the footage was pulled up, all three of us were left dumbfounded after watching it. 0

My guess was indeed correct; Brother Li had gotten up and walked out on his own. Watching that scene made my scalp tingle and my heart race! 0

It was truly damn terrifying. What kind of monsters were these? Could they really not die? 0

Uncle Qin stammered, "It's a fake death, a fake death." As he spoke, his tongue seemed to be rolling in his mouth. 0

Fu Yan held his breath, stunned into silence. For some reason, I suddenly thought of Zhang Xun's Five Coffins technique. That meant five people had emerged from the Five Coffins. 0

I could basically confirm that three of them had come out of coffins: one was Zhang Xun, another was Fatty Zhang, and the last one was Li Qiang. 0

The identities of the other two were still unknown. 0

Eerie—there was no other word for it. Among those five people, there had to be a central figure—the one mentioned by Zhang Xun. Jiang Changsheng was involved because of that person. 0

But who that person was remained unknown. In fact, I suspected someone; I just couldn't accept it or dare to believe it. 0

Uncle Qin said, "Fu, what on earth is going on? I've been here for decades and this is the first time I've encountered something like this! Were the people you sent over last night alive or dead?" 0

I estimated that Fu Yan was also feeling uneasy inside. I took a deep breath and murmured, "This really is a case of faking death." 0

At that moment, Fu Yan finally spoke up. "Where's the faking? It's possible the person isn't dead. Uncle Qin, you don't need to worry too much; it was probably just a mix-up." 0

Uncle Qin replied, "I've been in this morgue for so long, and this is the first time I've encountered something like this. Fu, you all need to be more careful in your work. Luckily, nothing happened to anyone this time; otherwise, you would have been in big trouble." 0

Fu Yan assured him, "We will definitely be more careful. I still need to write a report for my supervisor when I get back." 0

Uncle Qin said, "Knowing your mistakes and being able to correct them is a great virtue." In the midst of their conversation, Uncle Qin's earlier fear had dissipated. 0

However, I did not share that sentiment. I could tell that Fu Yan was lying to comfort Uncle Qin. After watching the surveillance footage, Fu Yan's face had turned extremely pale. 0

As we walked out, Fu Yan turned to Uncle Qin and said, "Uncle Qin, please don't tell anyone about this matter." 0

Uncle Qin replied, "I understand; confidentiality is key." 0

Fu Yan forced a smile and walked out of the morgue with me. 0

It was truly eerie that Brother Li was still alive. But if he was alive, why did he cut off his own hand to threaten me? 0

Why would he do that? I absolutely did not believe Brother Li was an idiot. 0

Once outside, Fu Yan pulled out a pack of cigarettes, handed one to me, and then lit one for himself. 0

Fu Yan's complexion was pale; beads of sweat were forming on his forehead, and his hand trembled slightly as he lit the cigarette. If you asked Fu Yan to confront a robber, he might not even flinch; his hands wouldn't shake at all. 0

But encountering something like this was enough to make even Fu Yan feel eerie. 0

Based on Fu Yan's earlier analysis, I could confirm that when he discovered Brother Li, Brother Li must have been dead at that time; he just came back to life later. 0

At that time, I should have been in a similar situation at the funeral home. 0

No, no, it’s really hard to determine whether Brother Li is alive or dead; what I can confirm is that he is definitely not a normal living person. 0

Fu Yan took a deep drag on his cigarette, then said to me, “Chen Fei, I hope you keep this matter confidential.” 0

I nodded in agreement. Keeping this secret was also beneficial for me. What Fu Yan had just said was merely to comfort Uncle Qin. 0

Fu Yan actually believed that Brother Li had come back to life and walked out of the Morgue. 0

Suddenly, Fu Yan asked me, “What do you think just happened?” 0

I was a bit surprised that Fu Yan was asking me. I paused for a few seconds before replying, “I don’t know; it’s my first time encountering something like this.” 0

However, Fu Yan clearly didn’t believe me. He stared at me intently, making me feel uneasy inside. 0

Fortunately, at that moment, a phone call came in. I thought it would ease the awkward tension, but unexpectedly, this call only intensified my unease. 0
