"Tsk, I thought the legendary spirit beast would be some magnificent divine creature, but it turns out to be just a tiny little cub. It's hilarious! The rumors really are exaggerated! If it weren't for the fact that it actually has some abilities and potential for growth, I wouldn't bother wasting my energy trying to catch it!" 0

"So, you know this spirit beast has an owner, yet you still want to snatch it?" I asked calmly. 0

After all that disdainful talk, he still desperately wanted to catch it? Truly a case of saying one thing but meaning another! 0

"Huh? Who's the owner? Is there a mark on this spirit beast indicating whose it is?" The man feigned confusion. "Since there isn't, whoever catches it first gets to keep it! Besides, even if Song Zichen really wanted to use this spirit beast's power to claim this Potter's Field, he still has to see if the Yiling Ancestor will allow it!" 0

Despite having gone through two major purges, in the deeply ingrained beliefs of the people, this Potter's Field still belonged exclusively to that supreme evil lord, the Yiling Ancestor. If the Yiling Ancestor were truly dead and gone, that would be one thing. But Wei Wuxian had already sacrificed himself and been reborn. In that case, wasn't Song Lan's action equivalent to provoking the Yiling Ancestor? 0

"So rather than waiting for the rightful owner to come reclaim everything, it's better to snatch the spirit beast first. It's far better than letting all the benefits fall into Wei Wuxian's hands later!" The man reasoned. 0

"Regardless, this spirit beast already has an owner. How can you just say you’ll take it?" I replied calmly. 0

"Hey! Little girl, do you really think you can do anything on your own? With your abilities, you probably couldn't even touch my finger. Don't overestimate yourself," he sneered down at me. 0

"Oh? Don't you think Master Song has his reasons for leaving me here alone?" I countered with a smile. 0

"Speaking of which, it's surprising that someone from a prestigious sect like Song Zichen would take in a female disciple first and hide her away in such a remote place. Could it be he has some improper intentions? Perhaps you're actually his secretly kept wife? Ha! He actually likes that sort of thing? No wonder he has to hide away from people!" He suddenly grinned lewdly. "Or maybe you possess some special skills that make him completely devoted to you, which is why someone who usually holds himself in high regard is so infatuated? So, might I have the honor of experiencing that myself?" 0

"So you're aware you're not a match for Master Song, which is why you deliberately chose a time when he's not around to try and steal the spirit beast, so you won't get caught and humiliated, right?" I ignored his sleazy provocations and asked directly. 0

"Pah! Do you really think anyone takes your Daoist priest seriously? All that talk about clear winds and bright moons—he was careless enough to fall into Xue Yang's trap back then and dragged the entire Bai Xue Guan down with him. Wasn't that because he was foolish? If Xiao Xingchen hadn't been even more foolish and willing to gouge out his own eyes for him, do you think he would be where he is today?" The man spat disdainfully. 0

"Pah! You shameless scoundrel! Did you eat shit or something? Your mouth stinks!" A-Qing, who had been hiding nearby, couldn't hold back any longer and jumped out. "Not only do you want to shamelessly snatch someone else's spirit beast, but you also slander our Daoist priests! You must have been raised by pigs and dogs; you don't even know how to write 'shame'!" 0

"Whoa! Where did this foul-mouthed ghost come from? Speaking so crudely!" The man shot A-Qing a disdainful glance and casually threw out a talisman at her. "A soul as lowly as yours only serves as an eyesore in this world; just disperse right here!" 0

A ball of light instantly surrounded A-Qing, blocking the talisman attack. 0

"I told you to stay hidden and not come out," I said with some exasperation as I looked at her. 0

"But I really couldn't listen anymore! Who's speaking crudely here? Can you hear what this guy is saying? How can you stay so calm?" A-Qing exclaimed angrily. 0

"Just because what he says isn't human language means there's no need to understand it," I replied leisurely. 0

Anyway, having asked most of the questions, and now that it was clear this person before me was no good, I figured I could drop any pretense. 0

"What...?" The man stared in shock at A-Qing, who remained unharmed within the sphere of light. "What is going on?" 0

"Well, nothing much, just the way it is," I said with a calm smile as I waved Fenghua and used Wind Restraint to bind him. 0

"Ugh!" Instantly immobilized, he lost his earlier arrogance, replaced by astonishment and anger. "What kind of sorcery is this? Let me go!" 0

"I did mention earlier that Master Song would trust me to guard alone for a reason, didn't I?" 0

Not that it mattered; Song Lan had never truly trusted me. That person always worried too much. 0

However, I had been diligently training hard these past few days, and I was no longer the same as before. 0

Though the systems were different and there was no standard to distinguish strength, I could at least say I had some advantages. 0

So, a mere small fry like him was nothing to me now! 0

"This isn't the orthodox magic of Esotericism. Has even the self-proclaimed righteous Song Zichen gone astray?" he shouted angrily. 0

"Oh dear, did I ever say this was taught by Master Song? I don't think so," I replied innocently, tilting my head at him. "After all, this is a special skill of mine! Didn't you just say you wanted to experience it? I'm generously granting you this honor, so hurry up and bow in gratitude!" I used his earlier words against him. 0

"You bastard! Let me go! Otherwise, we won't be done!" He glared at me with a fierce expression. 0

"I believe you should be well aware that this is the infamous Potter's Field, right?" I stepped closer to him and said sternly, "Then you should also know that Potter's Field is quite dangerous." 0

"What do you mean...?" 0

Before he could finish his nonsense, I swung Fenghua, using the wind to lift him into the air. Accompanied by his piercing scream that cut through the sky, I hurled him in a certain direction. 0

Few knew that the most dangerous place in Potter's Field was not actually the Demon Suppression Cave of the Yiling Ancestor. 0

On the other side in a shadowy area lay an inaccessible chasm, unfathomably deep, where nameless heavy resentment lingered below. 0

Because the bottom of the ravine was too deep, the bodies buried beneath, even after being tainted by resentment and transformed into Vengeful Spirits, still found it difficult to escape that abyss. Over time, the resentment piled up layer upon layer, turning into a visible black mist, from which one could vaguely see figures wailing in agony… 0

The scene was reminiscent of the phantoms in "Fatal Frame: Crimson Butterfly." 0

I had ventured there once while exploring the surroundings, and just a glance had terrified me enough to never approach again. 0

Fortunately, my eyes were not deceived. 0

If one were to accidentally fall in, it would truly be as Wen Chao said: body and soul lost, never to return! 0

Back then, there hadn’t even been any Guardian of the Mountain Stone Beast assigned to suppress the area; even the nearest snow was still quite a distance away. 0

Thus, that place remained the only location I had yet to purify—a realm of extreme negativity, and the true forbidden ground for the living on this Potter's Field. 0

I sighed and turned to A-Qing, withdrawing the light shield that protected her. 0

“A-Qing,” I said, placing my index finger on my lips with a charming smile. “You know, right?” 0

“Of course. No one has entered Potter's Field today, right?” A-Qing waved her hand knowingly. 0

“Very good.” I slung Fenghua back over my shoulder. “Let’s go back.” 0

“Are you sure there’s really no problem?” A-Qing asked quietly from behind me. 0

“Hmm… I think it should be fine.” I pondered for a moment but didn’t make any definitive statements. 0

Those who came with shameless intentions usually wouldn’t boast about it before leaving. This meant that even if they went missing, no one would know they were here. Even if they had mentioned coming to Potter's Field, it was inherently a dangerous forbidden ground for the living; their ignorance in trespassing and meeting misfortune was their own fate. 0

Regardless, their deaths had nothing to do with me. 0

If they were lucky enough not to die from a fall, they wouldn’t be able to climb out of that abyss; even if they transformed into zombies and managed to escape, it would just mean they’d die again. 0

As for whether this might inadvertently create a second Yiling Ancestor… Ha! With these pathetic creatures that I couldn’t even defeat? Don’t make me laugh! 0

"Don't worry, even if there are problems, they are my problems. You don't need to be concerned." 0

That said, there is always a possibility of unforeseen circumstances. If it were just me, I could act without restraint, but with the Taoist priest and the others around, I couldn't be too reckless. This approach couldn't last long, especially considering the previous actions that might have been exposed unexpectedly... 0

In any case, I needed to come up with a legitimate way to deal with these people with ulterior motives; otherwise, I could foresee the potential scenes of accusations and disastrous endings in the future. 0

Tsk! What a hassle... 0

A-Qing looked at me with a complex expression. 0

"I thought you were just an innocent little flower unaware of the world, but it turns out you're quite ruthless..." 0

"A person's kindness must have a bit of edge; otherwise, they will only be taken advantage of," I replied calmly. 0

If others do not offend me, I will not offend them; if they do offend me, I will surely return the favor. 0

Though I was inherently socially anxious, I wasn't a naive and innocent saint who could be easily slaughtered. I still had a basic sense of self-defense and revenge. 0

"Now you can understand what it means for the living to be more terrifying than the dead, right?" I smiled at her. 0

"Hmph!" A-Qing scoffed dismissively. "That's because you've never met Xue Yang! If you had seen him, it would be more than just being scarier than the dead; he has turned a perfectly good person into a demon. You're still far from that!" 0
