The moment the essence of Feng Ju transformed into a wisp of gas and separated from its body, I couldn't shake off the unease that settled in my heart. I wondered if something unexpected might happen. Our actions tonight had already drawn the attention of those at Li Manor. If anything were to go wrong with Feng Ju's mission, it would spell trouble.
As time ticked by, my anxiety grew. It was now past three in the morning, and Feng Ju still hadn't returned.
I stood up and began pacing back and forth in the room. Just then, I heard a noise outside the door, and my heart raced with tension as I strode toward it.
"Wang, are you asleep?" Xiaomei's voice reached my ears.
My spirits lifted at the sound, and I quickly opened the door to let Xiaomei in. Her gaze fell upon Feng Ju, and she paused for a moment before stepping inside and closing the door behind her.
"Wang, what happened? Where is Feng Ju's soul?" Xiaomei exclaimed, pointing at Feng Ju's body in surprise.
I glanced at Feng Ju before explaining our earlier discussion to Xiaomei.
"This isn't good. However, since Feng Ju has already left, there's no turning back now," Xiaomei replied.
Her words sent a jolt of worry through me. Could something have gone wrong again?
"What's going on? Is there new information?" My voice was thick with concern.
Xiaomei nodded and continued, "Yes. After we returned to our room, we discovered that Chen Residence had set up a Corruption Immortal Formation in their area. It's an extremely vicious formation that can weaken our spirits. If we try to force our way out, we'll pay a heavy price."
Could it be that Feng Ju—
In an instant, my heart was filled with intense worry. I looked at Feng Ju's body; surely something must have happened on the way back.
I turned to Xiaomei and said urgently, "Stay here and keep an eye on Feng Ju's body. I'll be right back. Make sure nothing happens to it."
"Understood, Wang. Please be careful."
I nodded and stepped out of the room, heading to a secluded spot. I scanned my surroundings and saw no one around before taking off into the air. Just as I was about to soar away, a powerful force of Divine Power struck me back down, sending me crashing to the ground.
I immediately stood up as a beam of light appeared on the wall.
The old man was indeed cunning; he had pulled such a trick. It seemed I had no choice but to unleash my strongest attack.
I summoned my most powerful Divine Power and launched a direct assault on the beam of light. It seemed to be a barrier, and within just a few seconds, I felt a tremendous vibration pushing back from the light. Fortunately, I managed to stop just in time, and at that moment, a crack appeared in the light.
Seizing the opportunity, I quickly escaped through the crack and out of Chen Residence. As soon as I exited, the crack sealed itself once again.
It seemed that the barrier set by Chen Residence was quite formidable.
"Wang Jun!" Just as I was about to head toward the Wang Manor territory, a familiar voice called out to me. There was a hint of weakness in the tone, causing my heart to tremble. It was Feng Ju's voice.
I turned to look and was shocked to see Feng Ju lying in a corner, covered in blood and barely conscious.
What had happened?
I rushed over and picked up Feng Ju. At that moment, I realized that all her spiritual energy had been drained away.
It seemed something had directly siphoned it from her.
"Are you okay? What happened?" I asked with concern while channeling my Divine Power into Feng Ju.
"I'm fine," Feng Ju managed to say with great difficulty.
Seeing her in such a state filled my heart with sorrow. If only I had stayed with Feng Ju, this situation would not have occurred. It must have been the barrier set by Chen Residence that harmed her.
At that moment, after receiving my energy transfer, Feng Ju seemed to recover somewhat.
"Let's not talk about this now; we should return to Chen Residence," I said, glancing around before addressing Feng Ju.
"Okay." I helped her up and once again used my Divine Power to forcibly open the barrier set by Chen Residence.
I brought Feng Ju back to our room. As soon as Xiaomei saw us return, the worry on her face eased.
"What's wrong with him?" Xiaomei asked, looking at Feng Ju's condition.
"He got a little hurt, but he's fine now," I replied.
"Feng Ju, did you see anyone from the royal residence?" Xiaomei immediately inquired about the royal matters upon seeing that Feng Ju was okay.
Feng Ju moved his lips, his tone very weak, as if he hadn't fully rested yet.
"Alright, let's not disturb Feng Ju. He needs to rest first," I said to Xiaomei.
"Okay, then I'll head back," Xiaomei said before leaving the room. I looked at Feng Ju's face, which still looked unwell, and once again channeled Divine Power to him.
"Thank you, Wang Jun," Feng Ju said to me.
At that moment, I realized that Feng Ju had called me Wang Jun, and suddenly, Ruoxi came to my mind.
I quickly took out Ruoxi's body. After placing her soul into her body, it remained unresponsive. Was something wrong?
Seeing my gaze fixed on Ruoxi's body, Feng Ju asked if there was a problem.
I nodded and showed Ruoxi's body to Feng Ju. By now, I had developed a strong trust in Feng Ju and wasn't worried about what he might do.
"It seems her soul has lost consciousness. You need to awaken her soul; that's the only way," Feng Ju explained to me.
I pondered for a moment and asked Feng Ju, "What does it mean for a soul to lose consciousness?"
Feng Ju explained, "When a soul loses consciousness, it needs to be awakened. This is a form of self-protection of the soul, so it relies solely on you. I'll take a moment to rest; think carefully about how to awaken her."
I nodded in response, and Feng Ju drew a barrier before entering it.
“Ruoxi, are you okay?” I looked at the essence of Ruoxi in my hands, and my longing for her grew deeper.
“Ruoxi, do you know me? My memories have returned. You need to wake up soon. Didn’t you want to marry me? When you wake up, I’ll give you a wedding, alright?”
“Ruoxi, in the past few lifetimes, it was always you protecting me. This time, let me protect you, okay?”
“Ruoxi, please wake up soon.”
As I spoke, I observed Ruoxi’s essence, but there was no response at all, which made my heart sink further.
I sighed; it seemed this matter couldn’t be rushed. To help Ruoxi awaken as soon as possible, I infused her essence with Divine Power.
Once the Divine Power entered Ruoxi’s essence, it seemed to react.
This made my heart leap with joy; I hadn’t expected Divine Power could actually help Ruoxi.
However, I knew I couldn’t infuse too much Divine Power, or it would lead to adverse effects.
I withdrew the Divine Power and set Ruoxi’s essence aside to rest.
The next morning, we were awakened by a commotion outside.
“Not good, something has happened!” It seemed to be a servant from Chen Residence.
Feng Ju and I immediately got out of bed and stepped outside. The scene at Chen Residence was chaotic, which surprised me. I turned to Feng Ju and saw her calm demeanor, which reassured me.
“Is it the people from the royal residence?” I asked Feng Ju.
Feng Ju nodded and replied, “Yes, it’s the people from the royal residence. Last night I went there and discussed matters with them.”
Hearing this made me feel relieved. “Then what do we need to cooperate with the royal residence on?”
"According to what I've heard from the Wang residence, the Li Manor has an Energy Stone. If we can destroy the Energy Stone in Li Manor, then it will lose its spiritual power. We should give it a try," Feng Ju said.
I looked at Feng Ju in confusion regarding the Energy Stone.

"Look at how chaotic things are at Chen Residence. There are no movements here, which indicates that this place is still very important to Chen Residence," I remarked as I folded the map away.
"Yes, I've heard from the people at Wang residence that only those with a token are allowed to enter," Feng Ju confirmed.
