I dragged my injured body forward, desperately running, while Fat Ma screamed behind me, intensifying the tension in my heart. 0

The Mud Man sprinted ahead, finally crossing that beam of light, and I followed closely behind, with Fat Ma not far behind either. 0

A brown bear howled angrily, chasing us from behind. Just as I was about to panic, a large tree suddenly swung down a branch, striking the bear hard on the nose. 0

The bear's previously fierce roar turned into a whimper, and it collapsed onto the ground. 0

The three of us sat on the ground, panting heavily, our flashlight abandoned and its light scattering everywhere. 0

Looking at the brown bear lying on the ground, I still felt a lingering fear. As I sat down, the pain in my hand intensified, and beads of sweat formed on my forehead. 0

The Mud Man got up to tend to my wounds when the Tree approached and coldly remarked, "If you treat it like this, his hand might be ruined." 0

The Mud Man froze at his words. 0

The Tree stepped forward and grabbed my hand, pulling and pushing it forcefully. I cried out in pain as sweat beaded on my nose. 0

Fat Ma, worried about me, shouted, "Hey! What did you do to Old Sun?" 0

At that moment, the pain subsided slightly, and I could move my hand a little. 0

Ignoring Fat Ma, the Tree turned and walked into the woods. After a while, he returned to me, first chewing some herbs with his mouth and applying them to my hand. A cool sensation rushed through me. Then he fashioned a splint from bamboo and secured it with rope. Once everything was done, he tossed out a remark: "If nothing goes wrong, you’ll be fine in three days." 0

Fat Ma blinked at me and asked, "Are you okay now, Old Sun?" 0

I nodded. 0

Then Fat Ma immediately made a sorrowful face and said, "I have something to take care of..." He stood up while holding his backside. 0

I couldn't help but laugh at Fat Ma, who scolded me, "Look at you, reveling in my misfortune." 0

I quickly stopped laughing. At that moment, the Mud Man went to help Fat Ma bandage his wounds. The Mud Man also knew about herbs, and once everything was taken care of, we all felt exhausted. 0

The brown bear was still lying on the ground, and in anger, Fat Ma kicked it. Just as he was about to kick it again, the Big Tree spoke up, "If it wakes up later, you'll be responsible for it." 0

Fat Ma hurriedly pulled back his foot and said sheepishly, "It's not dead yet! Tough little thing." 0

The Mud Man chuckled and said, "Hey Fatty, why didn't you kick it?" 0

Fat Ma replied seriously, "If I kick it now, I'd really be an idiot!" He closed his mouth and walked back to our side. 0

The Mud Man smiled again but then spat out some blood. Fat Ma quickly asked, "Are you okay, Mud Man?" 0

The Mud Man shook his head and said, "Just a little internal injury; it'll be fine in a few days." 0

Hearing that it wasn't serious, Fat Ma felt relieved. Suddenly remembering that the Big Tree had disappeared during our fight with the brown bear, he questioned him. 0

The Big Tree replied, "I was looking for an opportunity to deliver a fatal blow." 0

Fat Ma glanced at the brown bear lying on the ground and was left speechless! 0

"Let's get out of here quickly! It won't be easy to deal with once it wakes up!" the Big Tree urged us. 0

The sky had begun to brighten slightly as we packed our things and continued on our journey, now with three more injured members, though fortunately, their wounds were not severe. 0

In the morning forest, the humidity was particularly heavy; walking along the path, dew fell like rain from the leaves above. 0

Withered vines twisted around the ground, while new plants climbed toward the heights. 0

The Big Tree led the way, wielding a machete to clear the branches obstructing our path. A gentle breeze blew by, carrying a chill in the air. 0

I had injured one hand and it was suspended in a bandage around my neck. Fat Ma mocked me all along the way, calling me a one-armed hero and asking where my aunt had gone. 0

This Fat Ma seemed uneducated, yet surprisingly, he had read "The Return of the Condor Heroes." 0

Later on, the Mud Man joined forces with Fat Ma, but I couldn’t be bothered with them. 0

As we ventured deeper into the ancient forest, human presence diminished, and various plants grew intertwined. Many remnants of prehistoric civilizations were often hidden within. 0

Birds chirped from the treetops, and wild animals were visible everywhere. It was a scene of thriving vitality. 0

Fat Ma whistled cheerfully along the way, completely forgetting about what had happened last night. 0

Suddenly, the Big Tree at the front came to a halt. 0

Fat Ma shouted from behind, "Why did we stop?" 0

I leaned forward to see what lay ahead and was taken aback by the sight: a stretch of black swamp blocked our path. 0

"We'll take a detour," the Big Tree said decisively after a moment's pause. 0

Fat Ma and the Mud Man squeezed forward, and when they saw the black mire, Fat Ma casually said, "What’s there to be afraid of? The Red Army crossed this during their Long March." 0

But Big Tree didn’t have time to listen to him. "Stop wasting time," he said, pushing past the three of us to switch from the back to the front. 0

Fat Ma had to swallow his words, muttering under his breath, "Damn, I’ve really run into a strange person!" 0

I patted Fat Ma on the shoulder, shaking my head and smiling at him. Fat Ma grabbed me and asked, "Old Sun, what are you grinning about?" 0

Fat Ma was usually not one to lose out, but he kept stumbling under Big Tree's command! How could I not laugh? 0

I didn’t answer the fat guy and walked past him. The Mud Man followed suit and smiled at Fat Ma as well. 0

Fat Ma stood there in a daze, scratching the back of his head and murmuring, "This is weird! Could it be that Fat Master has become handsome again?" 0

Due to the dense forest, after walking for a while, we were all soaked through. 0

Suddenly, Big Tree said, "Up ahead is the Golden Path; many people have died here." 0

Hearing this made my heart race. 0

Before heading up the mountain, Old Zhang had mentioned that the Greater Khingan Range was rich in gold mines. Many places had been visited by people before, and numerous lives had been lost. I also heard that many gold mines were now guarded by the People's Liberation Army. 0

Upon hearing that many people had died ahead, Fat Ma became much more serious, while the Mud Man was always meticulous. 0

After walking a bit further, we noticed clothes hanging from some branches; they looked like they had been there for quite some time. 0

Suddenly, I kicked something hard underfoot. When I looked down, I discovered it was a skull, sending a chill down my spine. 0

As I continued forward, the trees around me began to thin out, revealing a rocky mountain path strewn with stones. The area was littered with rocks, and my view opened up considerably. Only a few small creatures managed to grow among the rubble, but they were quite bothersome underfoot. 0

The Mud Man said, "This must be a gold mine; there are radioactive materials here, which is why plants can't grow." 0

Upon hearing the words "gold mine," Fat Ma, in the astonished gaze of both me and the Mud Man, picked up two stones and tucked them into his clothes. 0

"Fat Ma, can you not get so greedy at the sight of money?" the Mud Man remarked. 0

Fat Ma grinned widely. "I'm just accumulating wealth; there will come a day when you all need me." 0

The Mud Man and I felt a sudden sense of defeat. 0

"But you can't just pick up useless stones!" I added. 0

Immediately, Fat Ma threw away the stones he had collected and scolded the Mud Man, "Only you can talk nonsense!" 0

The Mud Man looked at me innocently. 0
