As the starlight illuminated the sky, I sensed someone following me from behind, but a single word from me made them vanish without a trace.
Puzzled, I continued deeper into the secret realm. Two hours later, I came upon a low hill. At the base of the hill was a small pond. Feeling exhausted, I leaped to the top and found a flat stone to rest on.
In my drowsiness, I heard the sounds of a struggle nearby. Rising to my feet, I looked down the hill and saw a group of people surrounding a woman by the pond. They were dressed in the attire of the Sword Pavilion, with Dongfang Zhen at their forefront. The woman they encircled was Rain Master Luo, the eldest disciple of Arched Eyebrows, whom I had met before.
Dongfang Zhen said, "Why don’t you hand over the treasure? Don’t make me resort to violence just because you’re a woman."
In Rain Master Luo's hand was a pearl as large as an egg. This pearl gleamed brightly, radiating a moon-like glow even in daylight; it was clearly a high-quality treasure.
Rain Master Luo smiled and replied, "You seem to think you're quite impressive for such an inexperienced brat."
"Refusing to drink the toast and instead asking for punishment," Dongfang Zhen shouted angrily, slashing his sword at Rain Master Luo.
The sword energy sliced through the air, sending waves crashing in the pond. Rain Master Luo did not dodge; she stood calmly on the water's surface and looked at Dongfang Zhen. "It seems you’ve missed."
Frowning in confusion, Dongfang Zhen struck again with his Shadowless Sword, aiming horizontally at Rain Master Luo. She held her sword lightly and effortlessly deflected his attack. The other Sword Sect Disciples formed a sword formation and charged at her. Rain Master Luo’s swordplay was simple yet effective; dressed in blue, she moved gracefully among them, skillfully avoiding vital points while deftly cutting their sashes.
The Sword Sect Disciples retreated to the shore, holding up their trousers. Rain Master Luo turned to Elder Chen of the Sword Pavilion standing by the bank and asked, "Elder Chen, have you just been watching all this time?"
Elder Chen replied, "Rain Master Luo's swordsmanship is indeed exceptional; she possesses the grace of a sword saint. Zhen'er, let her go."
Dongfang Zhen retorted angrily, "What’s there to fear with so many of us? You could just stop her yourself."
Rain Master Luo seemed unfazed as she walked through the crowd with her sword in hand. Dongfang Zhen blocked her path and demanded, "Leave the treasure behind."
"Zhen'er, enough already; let her go," Elder Chen said with an unhappy expression.
Dongfang Zhen was furious, slashing his sword towards the ground, saying, "Get lost."
Rain Master Luo bid farewell to the crowd, hurriedly distancing herself from them. Dongfang Zhen turned to the Elder of the Sword Pavilion and asked, "Are we really letting her go just because she is the top disciple of Arched Eyebrows?"
The Elder of the Sword Pavilion sighed and replied, "If we don't let her go, we will all die. Just look at your belt."
Dongfang Zhen glanced at his belt; before he could even touch it, his pants fell down. His face turned red with embarrassment as he hurriedly pulled up his trousers.
The Elder of the Sword Pavilion continued, "Her sword has already formed Sword Momentum. This woman is not someone we can handle."
Rain Master Luo's figure was slender, dressed in simple blue attire. Unlike most women, she had short hair and her appearance was not particularly striking.
I quietly followed behind Rain Master Luo, weaving through the crowd. After a while, she stopped and turned around to ask, "Who is following me?"
I activated Time Walk and appeared beside her, snatching the Pearl from her hand. Looking at the Pearl, I said, "This truly is a treasure."
"Give it back to me," Rain Master Luo demanded.
"How about I trade you half a basin of Tai Sui for it?" I suggested.
Rain Master Luo snorted and drew her sword to attack. I fled into the secret realm, with Rain Master Luo closely pursuing me until we arrived at a desolate desert.
I looked at the desert before me and said, "Just how vast is this secret realm that it even has a desert?"
Rain Master Luo landed amidst the wind and sand, saying, "Return the Pearl to me, or I won't hold back."
I chuckled and replied, "The name of Arched Eyebrows' Senior Sister Rain Master Luo is well-known. I, Yang Hao, consider myself unmatched among my peers and am eager to spar with you."
"Then don't run," Rain Master Luo said, lightly stepping forward as she thrust her sword.
I pinched her sword between my two fingers, but Rain Master Luo's wrist flicked, sending a jolt through my fingers. Startled, I quickly withdrew my hand.
Her sword swept past my face, and suddenly I vanished into thin air. Rain Master Luo stood still for a moment before slicing her sword upward into the sky. As I reappeared high above, I narrowly avoided being struck by the sword's aura.
"How did you see my movements?" I asked, frowning as I landed on the ground.
Rain Master Luo replied, "It's just a trick. When you encounter a true master, especially someone from the Yinshan Yang Family who knows the Void Technique, you won't even have a chance to escape."
"Then I'll show you some real skills."
I moved my ten fingers in rhythm, sending wires flying from all directions toward Rain Master Luo. With her long sword in hand, she methodically deflected all the wires. Suddenly, her figure split into two, then four, surrounding me completely.
"Phantom Layers," I thought in shock; it was one of the secret techniques passed down from Arched Eyebrows.
I realized that Rain Master Luo's power far exceeded mine. Even I could see what realm she was in. So I unleashed the Rift Path Forbidden Technique, leaping into the air and striking down with a punch.
Rain Master Luo's illusion shattered, and a whirlwind of sand rose in the desert. As I landed, the tip of her sword grazed past my face, pointing directly at me as she said, "You lost."
As the dust settled, I felt a cut on my face that was bleeding. Rain Master Luo's expression turned anxious. "I'm sorry; I didn't mean to."
Seeing my confused gaze, she straightened her face and asked, "Are you okay?"
I shook my head and replied, "I'm fine; here's your Pearl back."
I tossed the Pearl to Rain Master Luo while wiping the blood from my face. A sense of defeat washed over me. All along, I had believed that I could challenge any peerless opponent among my contemporaries. Even when facing someone who was a whole realm above me, I thought I could easily prevail. Whether it was elders from major sects or talented individuals from various factions, none could withstand more than a few moves against me.
The moment I faced her, a sense of helplessness washed over me. Her moves were nothing extraordinary; she looked like an ordinary martial artist.
"You're a few years younger than me," Rain Master Luo said. "It's only natural for you to lose. Don't be disheartened."
"I'm not disheartened," I replied. "You're overthinking it. I just find you strange; you don't seem like someone from the Daoist Sect. People from the Daoist Sect never hold back during a duel, especially when they're alone."
Rain Master Luo pondered for a moment and said, "If there's no enmity, and they haven't attacked me, why should I take their lives?"
I countered, "What if they could defeat you? Then it would be your life on the line."
"What if you could defeat me?" Rain Master Luo suddenly asked.
"I don't know," I replied, then turned and walked into the desert.
Rain Master Luo did not follow. I glanced back at the empty space behind me and continued forward. After what felt like an eternity, I finally spotted an oasis in the barren landscape. I rushed over and gulped down several mouthfuls of fresh water.
But just then, I noticed a massive creature lurking beneath the surface of the water. It lay at the bottom, its eyes staring at me with a glimmering intensity. Its size was enormous, flat and wide, resembling a type of fish known as a stingray.
Suddenly, the creature flapped its two fleshy wings and burst out of the water, opening its gaping maw to swallow me whole. I stumbled backward as it lunged at me, my Fish Intestine Sword slicing through its belly.
The creature let out a horrific scream as it fell to the ground, blood seeping from its body and staining the sand red. Despite its intestines spilling out, it flapped its wings and crawled toward me. I leaped onto its back, channeling my Dao Qi. The force of my energy ruptured its insides, killing it instantly.
Then, I heard a strange sound. From all directions in the desert, something was hidden beneath the sand and was charging toward me.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
One by one, gigantic creatures emerged from the sand, similar to the one at my feet. They had massive wings and long tails, their mouths filled with sharp teeth. Drawing upon my Qi Sea, I summoned a scroll that unleashed flying daggers within it. The daggers transformed into enormous Black Blades that sliced through all the approaching monsters, bringing them crashing to the ground.
Before I could catch my breath, the ground trembled. From all directions, a cacophony of sounds erupted as one monster after another emerged from the sand.
I clenched my fists and struck the ground with a punch. The shockwave sent the monsters flying, but they quickly regrouped and charged at me again.
At that moment, a massive red scorpion surged through the horde of monsters. Rain Master Luo stood atop its back and shouted, "Get on! These are Sand Scorpions, and they’re endless. According to the Classic of Mountains and Seas, there must be a Sand Scorpion King nearby. If we disturb it, we won’t be able to escape!"
Rain Master Luo extended her hand toward me. I grasped her hand and leaped onto the giant scorpion's back. Its body was as solid as diamond, and as it charged forward, Sand Scorpions were knocked aside.
Seeing us escape, the swarm of Sand Scorpions immediately pursued us, emitting a horrible chattering sound. A sense of foreboding washed over me. Suddenly, dark clouds gathered above, and when I looked up, I saw an enormous Sand Scorpion soaring through the air—thousands of times larger than the ones we had just encountered. It flapped its fleshy wings and dove down toward us, reminding me of the mythical creature, Kunpeng.
In the Northern Abyss, there is a fish called Kun, which is so large that its size is beyond comprehension.
Though this creature wasn’t Kunpeng, it was certainly beyond our ability to confront.
The giant scorpion was terrified and fled at full speed. As the Sand Scorpion King lunged at us, it broke free from Rain Master Luo's spell and burrowed into the sand. I held onto Rain Master Luo tightly as I activated Time Walk just in time to evade the Sand Scorpion King's attack. Rain Master Luo pulled out a blue talisman from her sleeve and affixed it to my body while chanting an incantation. The void opened up before us, and I was drawn into it.
As I was swept into the void, I caught a glimpse of Rain Master Luo’s forced smile.
