Entering the Main Hall of the kitchen annex, Zhao Yang and Long Xiao Wu were taken aback by the scene before them. At the far end, seated in a commanding position, was a gaunt man with a sallow complexion. He had a bald patch on his head, his hair slicked back, and a prominent bulbous nose that dominated his face. His eyes darted up and down as they scrutinized Zhao Yang and Long Xiao Wu, particularly lingering on Long Xiao Wu's adorable apple-shaped face and her plump figure, making him swallow hard. 0

On either side of the Main Hall stood rows of people, young and old alike, all dirty and exuding a nauseating smell of greasy smoke. 0

"Hey!" the gaunt man suddenly shouted, striking the rolling table with a heavy piece of wood he had found. "Who dares to enter? Are these the two fledglings sent by Elder Zhong?" 0

His voice was sharp and jarring. While the others seemed unfazed, the newcomers Zhao Yang and Long Xiao Wu were clearly startled. 0

Bang! Bang! 0

With two swift punches from Zhao Yang, the gaunt man collapsed onto the rolling table. The onlookers stared in shock, unable to comprehend what had just happened. They hadn’t seen how the slightly taller youth had moved; they only heard the dull thuds of fists striking flesh before their leader fell unconscious without uttering a sound. 0

"Uh, alright everyone, please be quiet. We are here to hold a meeting," Zhao Yang said as he tossed aside the unconscious man, signaling for silence. 0

"That's right; we are the so-called immortals you speak of. If anyone else dares to be blind to our authority, they will end up like him," Zhao Yang pointed at the fallen man before addressing the crowd. "Today, my brother and I have come to take office. Thanks to Elder Zhong's appreciation, we have been granted positions as guardians of the Myriad Spirit Sect's Outer Sect. From now on, we will oversee all matters big and small within the Outer Sect, including washing clothes and vegetables, eating and relieving ourselves, weeding and watering flowers, building houses and farming—truly laborious work deserving of admiration!" Zhao Yang proclaimed boldly, spitting as he spoke. 0

"But, Immortal Sir, you haven't even started yet," an old hunchbacked man trembled as he reminded him. 0

"Oh right, I almost forgot! You all go to the kitchen and bring us all the delicious food and drinks. After my brother and I eat, we'll get to work. Also, make sure our living quarters are tidy." 0

"What are you still standing around for? Hurry up!" Long Xiao Wu glared at them, urging them on. 0

"But young sir," said a burly man named Chang De in a low voice, "the food in the kitchen is meant for those immortals above us. If they find out, we might be in trouble!" 0

Without saying a word, Zhao Yang lifted a sharp kitchen knife from the counter and with a swift motion—whoosh—it sliced through Chang De's hair just above his scalp before embedding itself into the doorframe with a buzzing sound. The sudden act left Chang De's scalp tingling with fear; he realized too late that he had wet himself. 0

"If anyone else dares to question our authority again, I assure you next time it won't just be hair that gets cut. Now disperse and prepare!" 0

The crowd was too frightened to speak further and hurriedly scattered to attend to their own tasks. They had heard rumors last night about two newcomers arriving but thought they were just ordinary people brought in; little did they know they were actually two immortals who appeared quite domineering. 0

Zhao Yang and Long Xiao Wu were secretly amused, but their faces remained serious. After finishing their meal, they placed their luggage in their respective rooms and then spent the entire morning wandering around the outskirts of the cottage. 0

“There are no spiritual herbs! I thought there would be ginseng or something, but all they grow here are ordinary vegetables,” Long Xiao Wu complained a bit. 0

Zhao Yang chuckled, “It’s precisely because there are no spiritual herbs that the Outer Sect is so lax. That’s good for us. We haven’t heard any noise about those who died last night. Since we’ve already taken over this place, if no one holds us accountable by tonight, then we shouldn’t hold back.” 0

The two shared a common mindset and plotted further, preparing to stir up trouble in the Myriad Spirit Sect's Outer Sect, fully embracing chaos. 0

After causing a ruckus on the back mountain of Myriad Spirit Sect for a while, they went to check out the benefits promised by Elder Zhong—the fish pond where they could fish freely. After tiring themselves out, they noticed no one was around and killed two sheep from the pen. They skinned and roasted them by the fish pond, with Zhao Yang taking charge as he was skilled in this area. 0

Watching the two roasted sheep gradually turn golden and tender over the fire, and smelling the delicious aroma wafting through the air, Long Xiao Wu was already drooling, his eyes wide with anticipation as if afraid the sheep would run away. 0

Their appetites were enormous; within half an hour, they had devoured both sheep completely. Zhao Yang let out a satisfied burp, while Long Xiao Wu licked his fingers and glanced at Zhao Yang with a hint of embarrassment. “How about we get another one?” 0

Zhao Yang wiped his brow; noticing it was getting late, he figured that Elder Zhong or other managers from the Outer Sect might be waiting for them at their quarters to punish them. Feeling only half-full after patting his stomach, he stood up again to catch another sheep for roasting. 0

Upon returning, they found a group of people blocking the entrance to the cottage. Elder Zhong stood at the door of the Main Hall, looking rather displeased. The lean man whom Zhao Yang had knocked out earlier that morning was now beside Elder Zhong, wearing a smug expression as he looked at Zhao Yang and Long Xiao Wu. 0

“Elder Zhong, these two little brats knocked me out! Not only do they refuse to work, but they also break rules by gorging themselves on the meals meant for the little masters. They even drank half a jar of our precious fruit wine! Such disloyalty and disregard for sect rules must be severely punished to set an example!” 0

Hearing the lean man's words, Elder Zhong turned to Zhao Yang and Long Xiao Wu. “Is what Zhang Fan said true?” 0

Zhao Yang nodded firmly. “Every word is true; there’s not a hint of exaggeration!” 0

“Ah?” This time it was everyone else who was surprised. 0

“Have you lost your mind, brother? Why did you just admit that?” Long Xiao Wu couldn’t understand how Zhao Yang, who had seemed so clever and bold these past few days, suddenly appeared timid. Just as he felt some blame rising in his heart, Zhao Yang spoke up again. 0

"Moreover, this afternoon we took a stroll around the breeding farm on the back mountain. We got hungry and roasted three sheep to eat. Two would have been enough, but the fat guy insisted on having another one, which is why we arrived a bit late." 0

"How could you!?" Long Xiao Wu's eyes turned red as he pointed at Zhao Yang, stammering and unable to find words. "You, Zhao Yang, I thought of you as a brother, but I really misjudged you!" 0

"No wonder you smell like sheep!" The lean man Zhang Fan waved his hand in front of his nose with a look of disgust. He then bowed slightly to Elder Zhong and said, "Elder, shouldn't such a person be severely punished? In my opinion, it would be best to first strip them of their cultivation and then hand them over to my subordinates. They will definitely take good care of them." 0

After saying this, Zhang Fan glanced at the fuming Long Xiao Wu and swallowed hard. 0

Elder Zhong looked at Zhang Fan and said, "Are you suggesting I let you mistreat them?" He reproached Zhang Fan before turning serious as he addressed Zhao Yang and Long Xiao Wu. "You two! One has a terrible Spiritual Root, and the other has no Spiritual Root at all. I don't know how much benefit the higher-ups received to allow you two to mix in here. I arranged a good job for you so that you wouldn't suffer from daily training or risk being beaten to death or maimed. Yet you don't cherish it and engage in some petty mischief instead. If I don't punish you, how can I..." 0

"Elder Zhong, you've dropped something!" Zhao Yang shouted loudly, interrupting Elder Zhong. He quickly bent down and picked up a stone from the ground, about the size of his palm, faintly glowing with red light. A rich Spirit Energy instantly invigorated everyone present. 0

"Essence Stone!!" Elder Zhong's eyes widened in disbelief. He remembered vividly what Zhao Yang held in his hand; after all, his current cultivation was only at the second level of Foundation Establishment Stage. If it weren't for Elder Fire Wuyan gifting him a Red Essence Stone before he established his foundation, he wouldn't even know if he could have succeeded back then! That Red Essence Stone had allowed him to successfully establish his foundation, and after years of struggle, he had reached his current position. The Red Essence Stone in Zhao Yang's hand was even better than the one he had back then, containing much denser Spirit Energy. 0

"Yes, Elder Zhong, look how careless you were! Luckily, your disciple discovered it in time; otherwise, someone else might have picked it up and not returned it!" Zhao Yang gave Zhang Fan a meaningful glance before presenting the Red Essence Stone to Elder Zhong and asking, "Elder Zhong, is this yours?" 0

Elder Zhong came back to his senses; there was no hesitation left in his heart. This was something that could change his fate. Now he understood why Zhao Yang managed to get in here—he was actually wealthy! Without further ado, he accepted the Red Essence Stone from Zhao Yang's hands and stuffed it into his robe right in front of everyone. 0
