The others over there were silent, but everyone had seen the two emerge from the corner. The earlier situation had raised suspicions among the crowd. Freyr and Duan Shuai walked out one after the other, their expressions calm, clearly indicating that the laughter just now was a collective illusion. Meanwhile, Nosty also let out a slow sigh of relief.
A young man with an ordinary appearance greeted Duan Shuai, "How did it go, Class Leader?"
Duan Shuai smiled and replied, "You, always thinking about how to benefit from others. You might be disappointed. Our two classes will cooperate, but we won't engage in the same kind of profit-seeking as before. Understand? Anyone who disobeys my orders will face military discipline."
As they spoke, Freyr walked by with a slight smile. Froth approached to greet him, clearly under Nosty's direct supervision and not daring to slack off. However, the situation on Nosty's side was still quite grim; despite being blind, he seemed to have experienced and noticed much more than others.
"Let's talk more later," Freyr said as he left, finally allowing Froth to stop his chatter.
"In summary, there aren't any major issues. They want to collaborate with me, and I think this could help us form new teams. In future missions, we can look out for each other. It seems they’ve encountered some problems and are seeking our help. While we could ignore them, they are fighting for the honor of the Crimson Dragon Army and have ended up in this state, so we can't just turn a blind eye. Prepare to welcome them," Freyr explained after sitting down next to the signal vehicle, surrounded by many people.
As expected, once Freyr clarified things, even if some wanted to refuse, they felt compelled to follow since many were willing to pledge their loyalty.
Originally all soldiers of the Crimson Dragon Army system, they gathered here and began to warmly receive Duan Shuai's troops. Naturally, Duan Shuai had made it clear that no equipment was to be touched or taken—no needle or thread—so his words helped stabilize what appeared to be a group of opportunists.
Tents were set up, and many military food rations were available for logistical support. Although most had been distributed already, Freyr opened some cans from his own class's supply and sent them to Duan Shuai's soldiers. Watching them devour the food heartily before returning to report back.
After everything settled down and the external sentries were withdrawn, Freyr paced back and forth anxiously. "The situation is stable now; that's good. The two classes can be considered a whole," he said. The upcoming mission would still be quite troublesome; how nice it would be if they had a map.
Nosty let out a deep breath and said firmly, "Would having a map really solve everything? Freyr, have you forgotten what my ability is? It's deep memory exploration. Besides that, if we have even one captive, I can pry open their memories."
Freyr paused for a moment before slowly responding, "That's exactly why I'm worried. Before this Simulated War ends, communications here and some urgent supplies for the troops will be frozen. It seems that whether the Crimson Dragon Army can withstand the mandated time depends on whether most people will remain calm."
The others around Freyr watched his anxious pacing in silence, knowing they were of little help. At this moment, only Aeros, Froth, Nosty, and Freyr could be considered useful. The rest, if they had any self-awareness, remained quiet to save time. Nosty chuckled, "There's no need to rush. You focus on your tasks, and once you're done, I'll report back with my findings!"
Freyr glanced at Nosty and smiled slightly. Although he appreciated the support, the current problem was still quite troublesome. It wasn't as simple as managing a team. He replied to Nosty, "With you here, I feel more at ease. Come over here; if your approach allows us to take action, that would be a good thing. The mission doesn't prohibit the Logistics Department from acting independently; sometimes bending the rules is just using them to our advantage."
"Sure," Nosty smiled and added, "Let's call Duan Shuai over too. If there are any issues, he can provide valuable input. His mind is sharper than mine and he's quite meticulous. Although people like him can be hard to control, they can also be excellent assets when used properly."
Freyr nodded eagerly and summoned a young runner, whispering in his ear. After finishing his instructions, he turned back to find the young man more excited than he had anticipated. The runner bowed deeply and dashed out.
Time passed before footsteps were heard outside the door. Suddenly, a person rushed in, covered in dust from travel. It was Duan Shuai. He looked puzzled at the two seated figures and said, "Strange, why call me over so late? Can't it wait until morning? You must have something important to discuss."
Nosty gestured for Duan Shuai to sit beside him while he stood up and headed to the storage room. He rummaged through it for a moment before returning with three cups of instant noodles. It seemed that even during the night, hunger had taken precedence over sleep; this food was something other units deemed unworthy of eating and had been left to mold in storage. After preparing the noodles with hot water, Nosty placed one cup in front of each of them before sitting back down.
As Nosty resumed his seat, discussions on both sides intensified. Although their ranks were not high and they had not achieved significant accomplishments, their intelligence and credibility made them suitable candidates for officer positions in the staff department. Despite their ideas being dismissed at the front lines where they were merely cannon fodder, they discussed the possibility of infiltrating the enemy forces. The defenses of the Crimson Dragon Army were tight; so far, there had been no alarm sounds or responses from the outposts. Both men shared similar thoughts on these details and voiced their suspicions.
A knowing smile spread across Duan Shuai's face as he stroked his chin. "I didn't expect we would think alike. It's surprising how easily these individuals infiltrated the Crimson Dragon Army, breaching multiple outposts and evading electronic devices like alarms. They likely left camp after achieving their objective; my patrols have frequently lost contact—this could very well be their doing."
"Since they've left, they might report our situation back," Nosty interjected thoughtfully. "If that's the case, considering human psychology, if we plan a surprise attack, they will likely be caught off guard as well. However, it's strange that after succeeding, they chose to hide instead of fleeing immediately; it suggests they might not have been able to remain concealed for long. Their hasty retreat indicates that their unit must have suffered some degree of damage—enough to compel them to return quickly."
"Is that even possible?" Nosty pondered aloud but soon realized how naive his question sounded as neither man paid him any mind.
Both men exchanged smiles before Freyr burst into laughter and said, "Of course it's possible! The likelihood is very high! Moreover, I believe their camp has sustained significant damage that would necessitate reporting back! Wait a minute—I see it now! They are just like us! How could I have been troubled by this issue for so long?"
