"My companions, how are they? Are they hurt?" Freyr was aware of part of the situation and understood that some of them were quite stubborn, especially during the exercises when they had resorted to interrogation methods that forced confessions. It was clear that the physical and mental toll on them must have been immense. 0

Without a second thought, he pushed the door open and followed. 0

The young man was taken aback for a moment but then smiled broadly. "They're all doing well." 0

Upon hearing this, Freyr's anger flared. "Doing well? What does that even mean? For you, as long as they can still breathe and eat, that's considered well, isn't it? You beast." 0

Dute stepped forward anxiously to defend, "Our Commander is fine; if he’s fine, then everyone is fine. Don't worry, he will definitely be okay." 0

Freyr's eyes reflected a mix of sorrow and rage. "Words must be backed by evidence. If anything happens to my companions, I will not let you go." 0

"Rest assured, they are truly fine. They are being well-fed and taken care of. But you—you're the one who is hurt the most among them. I'm curious; despite being in such a state, you still want to fight for them. Just how dependent are you on others? Only those who have abandoned their emotions can become figures that others look up to. Emotional expression serves only as a warning for the weak; it's merely a way to share warmth by holding each other close—nothing to fear." The young man turned with a smile and quickly moved ahead. 0

Though Freyr could only move with assistance now, he felt an overwhelming urge to rush forward and slap him a few times. He quickly dismissed the thought; he had indeed become useless. Perhaps the one truly injured was not the one laughing. With injuries like his, even someone with broken bones would be better off because they'd only need a month or so to recover. How long would it take for him to heal? Would there be lifelong repercussions? 0

As they continued walking, the surrounding light dimmed slightly until they reached a new room. The underground chamber felt surprisingly large, and perhaps there were many more rooms like this one. The air here was even fresher than outside, possibly due to some filtering agent. 0

After walking for another ten minutes or so, the young man made a gesture to stop. 0

"You all wait outside; I'll go in and report." With that, he adjusted his clothing slightly and straightened his back before entering the office. 0

Suddenly, a familiar roar echoed from within, reverberating through the space. Even Dute felt uneasy upon hearing it; his muscles tensed up. 0

"Seriously, you always let me see them quickly, but now it’s been so long without even a glimpse! I'm not here to play around; let me see Freyr! Don’t you understand the current situation? You old guy are holding my capable officers hostage!" A disdainful voice rang out from inside. 0

One person could only force a smile and said, "Hey, brother, just calm down. I'll make sure you see him. After all, he is a valuable asset, and of course, we need to let the best doctor treat him. Once we figure out what's wrong and fix him up, I'll hand him over to you. You're really putting me in a tough spot here." 0

Old Ba's scheme had succeeded as he slammed his hand on the table and continued unabashedly, "How am I putting you in a tough spot? I'm here to take someone, yet you won't let me see my subordinate. You even hide the others from the Logistics Department! If you have something to say, just say it. I'm a straightforward man who only knows how to fight. But let me tell you, I must take that person away. That's why I'm here; otherwise, I'll just stay here for a while and make a scene until your place is in chaos." 0

The one at a disadvantage was an elderly man with a wealth of knowledge. Upon hearing this, he quickly waved his hand calmly and said, "Alright, alright, you're impressive. I'll bring those people right over to you; you can take them immediately." 0

Old Ba shouted angrily, "No! Yang Jiao, I've known you for many years now. Why haven't you changed your temper? Do you really enjoy taking things from others? You know very well that Abel Romeo might fall for your tricks, but I won't! If you try to take my people away, I won't be able to swallow that anger. If I do something rash because of it, don't blame me for not giving you face. You must hand them over today; if not, I won't leave without seeing Freya." 0

As the heated discussion continued, the elderly man noticed a figure standing silently at the entrance for quite some time, head lowered as if deep in thought. He quickly waved his hand and said, "Jue, you've heard everything going on here. Hurry and bring that person over, and also bring his companions along. We'll sort out any issues when they arrive." 0

Old Ba looked eagerly at the man approaching; his eyes widened as he recognized him. How could this person look so familiar? Wasn't he the young man who had led the elimination of several capable subordinates? It was quite the coincidence; since he had been discovered, it was an excellent opportunity for him to vent his frustrations. 0

"Yes!" Jue nodded slightly and softly replied before turning to leave. 0

"Wait a moment, young man," Old Ba's voice rang out again as he took a sip of Pu'er tea and turned back slowly. "I feel like I've seen you before; didn't you come to the Crimson Dragon Army?" 0

"Maybe you're mistaken; I don't recognize you," Jue replied with a glance but without any hostility in his tone. However, he felt like he was confronting a rabid dog ready to bite. 0

"Really? You dare not recognize me? Well then, I'll stand next to the general while you're busy at the Crimson Dragon Army camp eliminating my capable subordinates. Surely you've seen me then. Hmph! This place feels off; I've figured it out—Yang Jiao, your disciples are all hypocrites! I don't want to stay here for even a second longer." Old Ba truly lost his temper upon seeing Jue. 0

"Jue, you can leave now!" Yang Jiao waved his hand dismissively as Jue understood and pushed the door open to exit. 0

Old Ba angrily smashed his cup and shouted, "I want to see someone!" 0

"Ah," this time it was Yang Jiao who felt frustrated. He couldn't decide whether to let him see them or not; sending Jue as a runner had indeed been a mistake. He hadn't expected it would completely infuriate Old Ba. Now Old Ba was no longer in a good mood with him either. He forced a laugh and said, "They'll be brought to you shortly. Before that, I still have an important matter to discuss with you." 0

"What are we talking about?" Old Ba was taken aback, realizing the situation. "Wasn't drinking tea just now a serious matter?" 0

"That was a serious matter, but this one is clearly much less significant in comparison. It's just a matter of your word," Yang Jiao said, rolling up his sleeves and revealing a charming smile. He pulled out a thin piece of paper from his pocket, its cover designed in an unusual manner, but the pattern on it struck Old Ba like a heavy blow. "Please take a look at this letter." 0

Old Ba's lips twitched slightly as he glanced at Yang Jiao, curling his lip like a rat's whisker. "Hmph, you're plotting something against me again. Fine, I'll look, but it won't change anything. I will definitely take the person away. This time I'll give you some face and help you read it." With that, he spread the paper open and began to read it aloud word by word. By the end, his hands were trembling, and each time he reached a crucial point, his snorts grew louder, as if trying to intimidate his opponent with the sound. 0

After finishing the letter, he slammed it on the table and turned to Yang Jiao. 0

Yang Jiao smiled. "What are you looking at me for? Now let's talk about the serious business of the handover, Old Ba. If you just take a step back, I won't treat you unfairly. I only need one person; after that, I can yield to you on everything else. We've been comrades for so many years." 0

"Ah." Old Ba shook his head, letting out a slight sigh. "Now I understand your purpose in inviting me here. So this is a banquet of betrayal; you invited me just for this matter. Of course?! No way, I can't make that decision." 0

"A banquet of betrayal? No way! I'm sincerely asking for someone from you. This letter has legal validity. If Abel Romeo causes trouble, I can have him go to Star Marshal. Besides, the talents you've worked hard to cultivate will eventually be sent to us anyway; we are more professional than the army and can create a stage for heroes in this world," Yang Jiao continued with flattery. 0

Old Ba was momentarily stunned; his lips began to twitch in shock. "No matter what, I'm still someone sent by the Crimson Dragon Army. If I go back without handing anyone over, how can I explain that to my superiors? I still need to see the person first; if they have no objections, then I can leave. Yang Jiao, you're quite cunning with the Marshal backing you." 0

Yang Jiao felt somewhat guilty and rubbed his nose, revealing a sly smile with a hint of relief in his eyes. 0

"If not seeking the Marshal's help, who else could I turn to? Without this approach, how could I get someone? Moreover, for new goals, it's worth using some means regarding talents," Yang Jiao remained calm. Old Ba had already been somewhat subdued; with just a little more effort to secure Freyr from the rumors, his mission would be accomplished. 0
