Time passed quickly, and it had already been over a week. 0

Since experiencing everything, Freyr had undergone a major surgery. 0

His Retina was replaced, his entire skeletal structure was reconstructed, cells were repaired, and after several significant surgeries, he was temporarily out of life-threatening danger. 0

However, his spirit remained low. Often, he would laugh out loud alone in his room or cry by himself. Of course, no one understood the truth behind these expressions. 0

It wasn't until a Psychiatrist entered his life that it became clear he was affected by severe trauma. 0

It seemed that it would take quite some time for him to emerge from the Straightjacket of his condition. He frequently erupted in anger, displaying unnatural rage and even cursing; it was difficult for him to behave like a normal human being. 0

After experiencing the horrors of the battlefield, most people's personalities would change to some extent. However, some underwent such profound transformations that those with weaker mental fortitude became unhinged. 0

This condition could not be controlled; even medicine could not explain it. They often did not even realize when they had been triggered. They acted on instinct, making them appear different from ordinary people. 0

If one were to understand the reasons behind their actions, perhaps they could further uncover the truths behind their words and the symptoms they exhibited. 0

Meanwhile, a heartbreaking situation unfolded elsewhere. 0

At headquarters, in the conference room, people came and went, each with their own tasks to handle. 0

"Report!" 0

Suddenly, a loud voice rang out at the door. 0

A Science Student walked in, clutching a research book, with half black and half white hair atop their head. 0

The middle-aged man's face was etched with fatigue, yet his voice still carried a hint of energy. 0

Everyone in the room paused, turning to look at the middle-aged man standing at the door. 0

At the back, a certain officer glanced around before continuing, "Please come in. What progress has been made in the experiment? What have you discovered?" 0

The Middle-Aged Science Student cautiously surveyed the surroundings and replied, "Um, this is a secret, but I only want to discuss it with you, sir. I don't want too many people to know." 0

"Alright then, everyone has worked hard. I have something to discuss now, so you all can go take a break." 0

With that command from the officer, his subordinates had no choice but to comply. 0

In less than a few seconds, they efficiently cleared out of the room. 0

"Now there’s no one left," he said. 0

"Ah~" The Middle-Aged Science Student took a deep breath and seriously tossed the research plan onto the table. From within the pages, he pulled out a photo taken after data collection. It was not difficult to see that it depicted a somewhat clear outline of a face—calm and seemingly wanting to convey something. 0

When the officer saw this photo, his brow furrowed slightly. Could this person be someone he was very familiar with—Russell? But what was going on here? 0

How could there be a statue of him? 0

"What is going on? Can you explain this to me?" The officer set down the photo and slid it aside, speaking lightly. 0

"Sir, do you know about Synthetic Diamond?" someone beside him suddenly spoke up. 0

"What? Are you talking about the kind that can only be formed under high temperature and pressure? I remember that—it takes a long time to refine and requires specific ratios of flame temperature and pressure to achieve that physical phenomenon. Why are you bringing this up all of a sudden?" The officer asked in confusion. But seeing his pale face, he felt a jolt of realization. "Could it be that those missing people have been turned into Synthetic Diamonds? Is that what you're implying?" 0

"Yes, Chief, I didn't want to be so direct with you, but since you've already guessed it, I won't hide it any longer." The Middle-Aged Science Student nodded, his expression darkening slightly. "We found that the interiors of these Synthetic Diamonds contain fine cells that are still active. They are the most primitive cells found in the human body, resistant to extreme temperatures. It's a one in a trillion chance event; a few of these cells survived in that extreme heat." 0

"Impossible," the Chief shouted in anger. "That is absolutely impossible! How could such a thing exist in this world? Do you know what that implies? The conditions they encountered likely involved passing through a smelting furnace and an environment of immense pressure. Even with such equipment, it would take over a week for them to form. This is basic procedure—don't you understand?" 0

"Yes, but the fact is that other Synthetic Diamonds do not contain such cells, nor do they have similar active cells. I extracted DNA from most individuals for analysis and found that this is a type of cell that only has remnants in humans. It is so rare that it is almost undetectable; even high temperatures may not completely eliminate them." The Middle-Aged Science Student nodded before shaking his head vigorously. 0

"So, all these Synthetic Diamonds have similar cells?" The Chief rubbed his forehead in frustration. 0

"Yes, but they are all dead. Not missing—let's say they are deceased. We need to return those soldiers who were scattered; we cannot afford any more casualties," the Middle-Aged Science Student quickly responded. 0

"This is still unbelievable. The expressions on those Diamonds all look very natural; none of the bodies showed signs of struggle. Even during the smelting process, such phenomena shouldn't occur?" The Chief sat back in his chair, unable to believe it, feeling overwhelmed. He slowly lit a cigarette and took a few absent-minded puffs before responding. 0

"Chief, that's normal. If the air pressure is sufficient and the temperature reaches a certain level, it should create an instant formation structure. The individuals inside may not feel oppressed because they became Diamonds without experiencing pain." 0

"If the temperature wasn't sufficient, perhaps even the cells wouldn't exist. It's reasonable to explain why those stones were brought back unharmed. If the temperature were increased further, they might remain in place for tens of thousands of years without moving; humans would only be able to sever their bodies to transport the original pieces." 0

The Chief seemed to grasp this concept somewhat, extinguishing his cigarette and regaining his composure. "So what we are facing is a very formidable enemy—one that has mastered fire and can instantaneously unleash a terrifying force that turns people into stone." 0

"I don't know much else, but it should involve flames because only fire can refine such pure Diamonds. Creating Diamonds from human bodies is incredibly difficult using industrial methods; it's nearly impossible to achieve that level of industrial capability. Moreover, even if it could be done, societal ethics and morals would reject such practices as highly inappropriate. This further suggests that this isn't something done by human hands." 0
