"Hey, don't be like that, dear," Freyr quickly ran forward and responded sweetly. 0

"Well, it sounds nice when you say it, but it won't help. They won't listen to me; you'll just have to deal with it. At most, they'll give you a beating. You're tough, so it shouldn't hurt too much," Su Qian replied calmly. 0

The two of them soon reached the stairs leading up to the house, where a group of old men stood at the top, looking down at those approaching from below. 0

"I'm going in first," Su Qian said, lowering her head as she walked forward, humming to herself. 0

The old men nodded in acknowledgment. Su Qian arrived at the large door beside the house, pushed it open, and walked inside. Just before she disappeared, she poked her head out and blew him a kiss, looking quite charming. Under normal circumstances, he would have eagerly grabbed her hands to keep her from leaving. 0

But the situation was quite different now. He couldn't go up the stairs because the balance between them relied on those few steps. Going up would surely disrupt the equilibrium they had established. In this case, he had no choice but to confront them directly. 0

"You're back! Let's talk inside," one of the oldest family members said. 0

A hoarse voice rang out; it was Su Qian's great-grandfather. Though he was over a hundred years old, he remained quite vigorous. Even after retiring from the family business many years ago, he still kept up with past matters. So when his granddaughter married Freyr, he had been skeptical about this playboy from the academy. 0

Indeed, he had been doubtful then; now he seemed to have changed his mind?! What surprised him was that while this grandson-in-law was no longer as bothersome as before—chasing after every pretty face—he still retained one trait from his past: a blind adherence to individualism that set him apart from others. 0

"Alright then," Freyr replied. 0

The others followed Great-Grandfather into the house, with Freyr being the last to enter and closing the door behind him. 0

Inside, a number of relatives were seated in more formal attire. Upon seeing this clueless younger generation member enter, their eyes were filled with disdain. 0

At the annual family meeting, these individuals were bound to be present. Even if he became the family's son-in-law, a person's status within the family was determined by blood relations. No matter how capable one was, they would never truly be considered the head of the family. 0

The truth was that families often favored their own, maintaining a monopoly on status through blood ties. 0

"Come now, what is going on with that matter?" The Great-Grandfather, seated at the back, suddenly spoke up. Even the elders who usually treated him with special care shrank back to the outermost circle. The arrangement was such that those with little to no blood relation were on the outside, while outsiders remained outsiders regardless of how much time passed. They were destined to remain as such. 0

It was merely a coincidence that someone from outside married into the family or took one of its daughters as a wife. Even if they were successful in their careers, they would still rank low within this family. Thus, behind closed doors, these non-blood relatives tended to look out for each other with an unspoken understanding. 0

"There’s nothing much; it’s all been resolved," Freyr said, instinctively swallowing hard at the imposing tone of the Great-Grandfather. He felt as if his thoughts were being scrutinized, reminiscent of when he was still in school and often felt observed by the team coach. 0

Although that sensation had gradually changed as his abilities grew stronger, right now it was undoubtedly the most intense feeling he had ever experienced. In earlier times, Freyr might have collapsed under such scrutiny; every action he had taken would have been laid bare before them. This was a unique skill of those with psychic sensory abilities. 0

The Great-Grandfather held the title of having one of the most powerful minds alive for over a century. Now employing this skill, he furrowed his brow slightly and replied coolly, "Oh? You think those matters are trivial? Then what do you consider significant?" He sipped his tea and placed it on the table, regarding the young man before him with an air of authority. 0

The Great-Grandfather had already sensed Freyr's thoughts and continued to give him a chance to speak further, curious about what excuses he might offer. He was adept at this tactic; while it seemed like an opportunity, it was clear he had already made his judgment. 0

"Well, I’m fully aware of the reasons and consequences behind your deception. I still need to carry out my previous duties. Slyland City has been established, and I know that Brain performed tasks there before his surgery. At that time, I was the only one who returned; everyone else is dead. Although reports claim they are missing, it has been determined that they are indeed deceased. Just because someone is reported missing doesn’t mean they haven’t died; the impact of that catastrophic event could drive adults to madness. Clearly, the dark forces behind it are formidable. My current investigation focuses primarily on the Zerg and its two major factions. I will not miss any opportunity to avenge my brothers," Freyr responded candidly. 0

Perhaps in such a setting he shouldn’t have spoken so openly, yet he did so without hesitation. 0

Most of the family members began shaking their heads disapprovingly; some who had gotten along well with him exchanged glances, signaling him to be mindful of his status. What status? His identity had merely shifted due to marrying his current wife, Su Qian, bringing him honor and significant changes in standing that allowed him financial freedom unlike before. 0

Buying two cars outright and even customizing them as he wished would not have been possible without relying on family power; otherwise, this mission might not have gone so smoothly. Casualties seemed inevitable since ordinary vehicles and their modifications could not yield such great effectiveness. 0

"Oh? So you think we are harming you by deceiving you? If that's the case..." Great-Grandfather pressed his lips together and let out an awkward laugh. 0

This smile, however, sent a chill through the hearts of those nearby. 0

The old man’s position in the family was unshakeable. It wasn't unusual for him to punish even his own son publicly for mistakes; the family business had thrived under his strict control, allowing it to reach its current status. 0

No one paid him any mind, their heads bowed in silence. 0

Freyr stood alone, feeling the isolating atmosphere around him. His perception was far sharper than that of ordinary people, and if he didn’t notice it, then it simply couldn’t be. That was absolutely impossible. 0
