The journey back wasn't too long, and they settled down at a nearby outpost.
The soldiers at the outpost called in the best doctors from the army to provide treatment for everyone. After organizing the received information, they sent it to the Association. A few days later, the Association promptly dispatched personnel to interrupt their team's mission, primarily because all members of this team had sustained severe injuries.
The explanation given was quite strange; the Wanderer's Home had actually allowed a Soldier-Level Hunter Team to undertake such a dangerous mission. However, the fact that they managed to return alive was nothing short of a miracle. The most underestimated Soldier-Level Hunter Team had achieved this milestone, and if given enough time to prepare, they might have better prospects in the future, even surpassing some of their predecessors.
The treatment process took a long time. Afterward, they followed the hunters sent by the Association back to headquarters, where their mission was once again halted. Returning to the Association did not mean life would become easier. Surviving from such dire circumstances in the mountains meant that no matter how skilled the doctors were, they could not provide adequate medical care to ensure a quick recovery. Therefore, not only did they need to keep this information under wraps, but they also required a prolonged period of rest and recuperation.
After this mission concluded, the Hunter Association underwent significant restructuring to avoid encountering similar situations in the future. The Soldier-Level Hunter Team members were still not qualified to apply for high-risk missions. To reward those who completed the Mushroom Mission, an allocation of 100,000 Reward Points was set aside for them. These Reward Points were part of the compensation for this mission and included hidden conditions that allowed them to select an appropriate weapon from the Technology Building.
Moreover, even those with minor injuries needed over half a month of rest before fully recovering, highlighting the severity of their wounds. This mission revealed the potential of this team to the Association; it was clear they were not as weak as previously thought, and surviving that mountain ordeal warranted respect.
Freyr regained consciousness from his dazed state and opened his eyes, finding himself submerged in a pool of green liquid. His body seemed to have regained awareness, though certain areas still throbbed with pain. During his slumber, the Association had utilized a vast amount of precious medicinal resources to aid his rapid recovery. They must have seen hope for the future in him and disregarded concerns about using such valuable medicines; for the President, these materials might just be numbers on a ledger—his planned Reward Points would be meaningless when actual combat arrived.
At that moment, human life took precedence, especially for these exceptional talents; concerns about appearances were set aside.
Using precious medicinal resources on anyone else would be wasteful, but investing them in these gifted young individuals was akin to investing in the future—though it carried its own risks.
As he opened his eyes and looked around, he felt an odd sense of familiarity at that moment.
"What’s going on?" someone below responded.
Another nurse said, "Life signs have stabilized; his brain waves have returned to normal. He should be able to transfer to a regular ward for recovery soon. As for the others, their conditions are still not particularly stable and will require continued observation."
The Attending Physician nodded, pausing for a moment to think before continuing, "Alright, all the data from various aspects has returned to normal. Let's proceed with the handover. Move him to the regular intensive care unit, and contact us if there are any special circumstances. Go ahead."
Several nurses nodded and skillfully maneuvered the person suspended in the floating bubble above.
Freyr did not move. In fact, he had regained consciousness, but his injuries prevented him from moving easily.
When he realized he was in the association's intensive care unit, he relaxed and turned his head down, drifting back into unconsciousness.
His clothes had been completely removed, so the Survey Gem had fallen into the hands of the association. The Survey Gem recorded everything that had happened along the way; very few people had managed to return alive from above before, resulting in limited information being collected.
Even those who returned often lost much of the information contained within the Survey Gem or failed to retain it altogether, rendering most of it useless.
However, this time the Survey Gem did not lose any data; all the information was meticulously collected.
It detailed all their encounters since entering the Black Forest. This information would greatly assist future hunters entering the area. Just this footage alone could be worth a significant amount or help more hunters avoid pitfalls.
In any case, the association had already dispatched many people to study the information within the Survey Gem, believing it would prove invaluable in the future.
"What is going on here, Silver Granny? This isn't your first time dealing with such matters." The Vice President's expression changed. "Knowing they are newcomers, you specifically released them for such a high-risk mission. They nearly didn't make it back! Do you realize we almost lost such a gifted hunter?"
He understood Silver Granny's character, but this time, with the Wanderer's Home mission going awry and sending such young Hunter Team members on dangerous tasks, it was already a miracle they returned alive with valuable information. There was no point in demanding anything further from them; restoring their abilities as quickly as possible was all that mattered. No matter how expensive the medicinal materials were, it was worth it to use them on these individuals.
Listening to the Vice President's words in silence, Silver Granny knew well what such outcomes entailed. She couldn't afford to offend someone in front of her, so she chose not to speak. But what impact could the Vice President's words have in front of Gold-Silver Combination? They were merely students they had trained. Moreover, those kids had returned alive; this trial had tested them and revealed their potential.
The mission had gone awry, and it was unclear whether it was intentional or due to something else. But he truly had nothing to say.
Taking responsibility was necessary, but confronting these two esteemed mentors required the Vice President to handle the situation with appropriate detachment. Neither side wanted to offend the other, and this was the best way to resolve the issue.
However, he couldn't make a unilateral decision on how to handle it. So, he placed the well-prepared decision document on the table and turned to leave Wanderer's Home.
"Old partner, it seems we've really messed up this time. We finally made a mistake; perhaps we should just step back. We can't handle these matters anymore. Let's go, let's leave," Jin said, his eyes widening as he looked at the Agreement on the table, pulling out a pen to sign his name.
"Yes, indeed. That young man seems quite promising; I would have loved to nurture him. But now it appears we are too old for that opportunity. Perhaps you're right; it's time for us to retire. Go ahead and sign," Silver Granny said with a smile, though she felt a twinge of reluctance as she signed her name as well. This marked their departure from their roles as administrators.
