The office was, of course, unaware of the situation unfolding in the hospital, so they sat together completely oblivious.
This hospital was staffed by doctors from within the association, so any sudden incidents would typically be reported immediately. However, this time the reporting was delayed; in fact, it never happened at all because the Executive Government of the Human Alliance intervened midway. The Human Alliance did not want the various associations beneath them to maintain their own power, as it led to a chaotic management style where good news was reported while bad news was often ignored. This continued until they heard about several promising humans sacrificing themselves repeatedly during missions.
Initially, the interference could not shake the leaders of these associations, mainly because their positions were very secure and the forces backing them prevented any infiltrators from gaining an advantage. But as the years passed, this former leader of hunters finally managed to use his gentlemanly educational philosophy to lead many talented individuals to their deaths. Some critical issues were even handled with such indifference that they went unreported entirely.
In this new era of 745 Aiki, perhaps there was still a need to rely on the mediation of those old guys from the associations, but now the foundation of the Human Alliance had become much more solid. Talented individuals would not be replaced; instead, they would bring order to chaos rather than allowing things to remain disorganized as they currently were. Therefore, the first priority was to reclaim current power.
Hilbert was no longer exceptional; rather, his former status had been upheld by his subordinates who supported him to reach his peak position. Now, he found himself isolated—there were no older monsters left in this association than him. Eliminating such anomalies should be easy enough. Indeed, he could be considered an anomaly himself, but perhaps only those like him thought that way.
The Executive Government had taken Freyr from the hospital, and his companions might have been deeply hypnotized without their knowledge to extract relevant details. All of this would be tied to the impeachment of the President and Vice President.
At that moment, a series of frictions arose within the office. Hilbert continuously interrupted with questions that turned into arguments, muddling their thoughts further. In such a tense atmosphere, only a fool could maintain control; it was stifling.
The Vice President, being sharp-witted, sometimes found himself caught off guard and resorted to self-compromise. The scene not only garnered admiration for how differently this President thought compared to others.
The three individuals present were merely puppets being manipulated by greater powers behind the scenes; thus, they did not intend to show any signs of fear in front of these people. Hilbert had always been one to entertain guests with drinks; he poured whiskey down his throat as if it were water. The constant chatter left the three feeling dizzy until they eventually excused themselves due to discomfort.
Hilbert settled into a leather sofa and exhaled a deep puff of smoke. Once the Vice President had seen everyone off and returned, he took out a Survey Gem from his coat pocket—a gem crafted through alchemical means that possessed probing abilities.
It was only when he learned of its whereabouts that this gem fell into his hands without attracting any attention.
"Your expertise in Alchemical matters surpasses mine. Can you help me analyze it?" Hilbert burped and continued.
"Sure, Hilbert. I remember your previous Alchemical subject was A plus, while mine was just B. You're asking me to help you analyze it? Are you serious? And now you still want to test me? You're really something, always wanting to show off that you're better than me," Vice President replied.
"Do you think I stand a chance against those guys? I can only use this drinking method to make them talk less. If it had gone on any longer, I might not have been able to handle it. Although I'm used to whiskey, it still packs a punch, you know? Do you really think I can smoothly analyze the Alchemical module after drinking so much? I'm afraid I might wipe out the records inside," Hilbert said as he tossed the Survey Gem away. Vice President caught it effortlessly, as if they had rehearsed the action beforehand.
They had indeed been friends since childhood, their habits so ingrained that no preparation was needed.
"Cough cough cough, you," came a mocking voice from beside them. Vice President picked up a glass of whiskey from the table and took a sip.
At that moment, Vice President's eyes fell into a Void state, and the Survey Gem in his hand suddenly burst forth with light, as if a lion was roaring deep within his gaze.
The aura of the Alchemical Matrix began to swirl rapidly. Gradually, he clapped his hands from a distance, and the sound of air breaking echoed as the aura settled down.
He placed the Survey Gem into a teacup, which gradually shimmered with golden light from bottom to top. When the brightness finally calmed down, a blurry image appeared on the White Wall.
Those images gradually became clearer on their own, almost more convenient than a video recorder; this was also why the wall was painted white.
Vice President stepped back and sighed, "Alright, see? It didn't take much effort."
"Yeah, the results are mediocre. You've really aged; in the past, our teacher would have failed you," Hilbert teased.
The two exchanged pleasantries before immediately focusing their attention on the white wall in front of them. Soon enough, their gazes were drawn to the strange creatures depicted on the wall. The images seemed to tremble as if they were being filmed while walking with a camera. In reality, however, the effect of the Survey Gem was not much different from that of a camera.
The scene was tumultuous, accompanied by voices exchanging words, indicating that their actions had been relatively smooth so far.
This kind of imagery persisted for quite some time, prompting them to fast forward a bit. They only needed to skip through the Alchemical template visuals. It wasn't too complicated, and soon they found themselves deep within the Black Forest.
A massive Naga was entangled with a particularly fierce Parasite Beast, causing even the enemies to turn pale.
It seemed they had watched for a long while before moving forward again. The journey had taken nearly two nights; although those watching could intentionally skip ahead in just a few seconds, the experiences of traversing through everything within were severely draining on one's Willpower.
Especially along the way, the dense forests and rugged mountain paths were enough to make anyone's heart race, occasionally eliciting gasps of fear.
After skipping ahead, they suddenly found themselves at the mountain's peak, a truly terrifying place.
At the beginning, a Giant Carnivorous Plant had directly devoured a colossal beast, making it clear that they had arrived at a den of dragons and tigers.
