The collection process was relatively quick; as soon as night fell, they returned to the city. It was too dark, and the team dared not venture deeper. 0

Although the hunters and assassins of the guild were skilled in various killing techniques, if their opponents were of the human race, they could ensure their own safety while also protecting the lives of the Medics without much trouble. 0

However, if they encountered the Zerg, things would be different. With the battles now concluded, any potential sacrifices that occurred next would fall squarely on the shoulders of the guild. 0

Despite the Medics sometimes being reckless, leaving bodies outside beyond the designated time would result in them being dragged away by nearby beasts. Over time, this could lead to significant losses. There were even instances where they decided to conduct nighttime operations, but during one such outing, they were ambushed by a few remaining insects. Fortunately, a team of assassins followed them stealthily and only intervened at a critical moment to eliminate the swarm. 0

It was important to note that a startled swarm of insects could match the combat power of an enhanced squad. Moreover, these insects numbered only a dozen or so. The small group of Medics armed with harvesting tools had no chance of victory. Therefore, after that unexpected incident, every operation had to conclude before nightfall; at the very least, they would wrap things up as soon as it got dark. 0

Losing a few insect carcasses was not a big deal; after all, the war was over. Losing lives would be disastrous. Having learned from their past mistakes, humans were unlikely to make the same error twice. They adhered strictly to the rule of not operating at night; those who disregarded this regulation would no longer receive reinforcements. Even if someone attempted to break down the Tower's door at night, no one would come to their aid because some Zerg members were cunning enough to produce human-like cries through friction of their scales. Having fallen for similar tricks before, no one wanted to risk their life again. 0

Another day passed. If only everything could return to normal! However, they never expected that something would go wrong today. 0

Perhaps their previous harvesting efforts had gone too smoothly; misfortune struck just as they neared completion. Walking across an open area, the ground suddenly cracked beneath them, and a massive brown figure burst forth from below—a brown beetle known as a Burrowing Worm, a type of insect that consumed rock. 0

This creature's close relative obstructed their progress. Having consumed too much rock, its body had solidified like stone. After digestion, some targets couldn't even be pierced by blades; they could only leave marks on its body. But what good were those marks? Attacks that couldn't inflict damage were utterly useless. 0

The impact from that strike generated tremendous force within the Burrowing Worm's interior. Its abdomen reacted violently; various sensations surged through it, nearly causing it to expel its corrosive gastric fluid. This gastric fluid was capable of melting rock and was over ten times more potent than that produced by humans. The human body simply couldn't withstand such immense corrosive power; even industrial sulfuric acid paled in comparison to the Burrowing Worm's gastric juices. 0

"Heart—" 0

Freyr pushed aside a nearby Medic just as a chasm opened up in the ground beside him; it appeared as if the surface had melted away due to the lethal force of that saliva sprayed directly onto it. 0

"Defensive formation, protect them?" The sounds of battle erupted suddenly as Freyr drew his Atakan longsword and dashed forward. 0

He leaped onto the back of the Burrowing Worm, thrusting his sword downward with force. 0

Sharp cracks echoed as the Exoskeleton, though tough, could not withstand the penetrating power of Atakan. Coupled with Freyr's enhanced strength, the layer of flesh could defend against bullets and even had a chance to withstand Armor-Piercing Rounds, but the force concentrated at the tip of the blade created numerous gaping holes in the Exoskeleton. 0

Inside those holes, vertebrae and bloodied flesh were visible, thick hard shells connecting to vibrant Subcutaneous Tissue. 0

With a powerful jab from the Aterkan Longsword, the Burrowing Worm let out a shriek, thrashing about like a rat caught in a trap. Freyr nearly lost his grip; he dug his fingers into the gaps of the shell to maintain his balance and began to climb upwards step by step. 0

Gradually stabilizing himself, he seized an opportunity to strike downwards. The Aterkan Longsword plunged deep into the Subcutaneous Tissue, where a long spine lay hidden. With a fierce thrust, he pierced it. 0

The Burrowing Worm beneath him suddenly stiffened and fell forward in a heap. 0

It lay on the ground, rigid yet still alive, appearing close to death but not quite gone. To ensure it was truly finished, Freyr reluctantly delivered a final blow to its head, ending its life. 0

"How are you? Are you hurt?" They were not fools; they had witnessed the battle clearly. Several moments had been perilously close. However, the Commander had showcased exceptional physical prowess without even using any abilities, dispatching the creature through sheer brute force. They already knew that the Commander was formidable but did not expect such overwhelming strength now. Aside from Xiong Tai and Mackey, few in their team could match Freyr in close combat. Even so, they did not believe this was all the Commander's true capabilities; it seemed he had effortlessly severed the worm's spine without breaking a sweat. Clearly, he still had more strength left untapped. Just this alone was impressive; they were curious about what his actual limits might be. 0

Freyr jumped down from the corpse and shook his head. "I'm fine; as long as you’re okay. This one will take some effort to recover. Be careful not to expose its stomach acid; it's deadly. If we load it onto the vehicle with its body intact, it seems that just one drop can seep through three meters of granite. If other worm corpses in the vehicle get covered by it, within two minutes they'll all turn into a disgusting liquid. I’m sure you don’t want that. It’s best to sew it up with needles and wrap its mouth with cloth before moving it." Freyr had no other options but this; he was uncertain if this creature had any other lethal weapons yet to be revealed—it clearly possessed great power but showed only a fraction before being swiftly dispatched. 0

It was truly unfortunate for it to die; leaving trouble for those still alive would be unwise. After carefully surveying the area, Freyr urged them to hurry and deal with moving the Burrowing Worm's corpse. 0

"Are you really okay?" Ross asked anxiously after checking him over skeptically. 0

"Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry, I'm immortal. Just now, I used the opponent's strength against them, and all the force pressing down on me was redirected. See? I'm perfectly okay," Freyr said. 0

"It does seem that way. I'm glad you're alright," Ross replied with a smile. 0

"What do you mean it seems that way? It should definitely be that I'm fine!" Xiong Tai shouted, scolding Ross for his surprise. 0
