"How is it possible that he was once my subordinate? This doesn't make sense," Star Marshal said, confused. 0

"Yes, he was your subordinate. It was General Robert who placed him directly under you, and you even signed off on it. Surely you haven't forgotten that," Clinton replied with a smile. 0

"How could I possibly remember something like that? Unlike you all, I don't have such an easy time. I've signed countless Agreements; perhaps I trusted my secretary too much. When I get back, I'll have to deal with him. But since he was once my subordinate, can I still say something? Uh, can I allow him to rejoin the Human Alliance? This time, I won't be foolish enough to send him back to his original unit. I'll have him join the Black Armored Troop. That shouldn't be seen as looking down on him, right? Go ask what the Black Armored Troop is like; they are far more formidable than your assassins or hunters. Having him enter the Black Armored Troop for combat training will turn him into a capable officer," Star Marshal declared. 0

However, this statement seemed to have unintended consequences. Hilbert shook his head and immediately responded, "Ha ha, you're overthinking it. Don't expect me to hand over anyone; even if he wanted to go, it would be a waste of effort." 0

"Look at me, brother. Come here. Do you still have contact with your old friends?" The person beside them chimed in; it was Hilbert again, but his attitude was resolute, clearly indicating he did not want Star Marshal to succeed. 0

Freyr's stance was also quite clear now. Initially, he had not fully understood the implications of his actions and had nearly become a traitor to the Human Alliance. He knew that if he returned now, neither side would welcome him. The so-called Black Armored Troop was undoubtedly far stronger than those expendable units. With their advanced technology, each soldier in the Black Armored Troop was at least at the third stage of Gene Lock, which indicated their formidable strength. 0

"I remember receiving intel that you defeated a warrior from the Black Armored Troop. What can I say? To defeat one of them without undergoing their training is impressive. I have high hopes for you; you could become a leader among them," Star Marshal said, leaning in with shock evident on his face as he listened intently. 0

"Well, thanks to your kindness, Marshal, I currently have a group of brothers who motivate me to strive harder. I don't want to leave them behind. If it were the old me, I might have succumbed to the temptation of becoming stronger and gone over there. But now I've realized my purpose for gaining strength: it's to eliminate the Zerg. However, I also want to forge friendships along the way. They are my brothers; that's why I don't want to leave them," Freyr said earnestly. 0

"Is that so? My door will always be open for you," Star Marshal suddenly smiled warmly. 0

"Cough! Just because I'm not talking doesn't mean no one thinks you're mute! You heard him refuse; are you out of your mind? Why would you need an open door for someone who's already turned you down? It's completely unnecessary! Just let it go," Hilbert grumbled discontentedly from the side. 0

"Heh heh, are you afraid he'll betray you again? Well, I think that's a bad idea; he's now Freyr of the Hunter Association, not Freyr of the former Human Alliance. The education we've given him will benefit him for life, while you've never respected talent at all! You treated him like a bargaining chip! So just forget about it!" Hilbert continued with a scoff. 0

"Hmph! This isn't over yet. You know my temper; if I can't have him, neither will you. I'm confident in his potential—that's enough for me," Star Marshal replied firmly. 0

Freyr smiled and shook his head, indicating, "Um, what else do I need? May I ask why you called me here, esteemed officers?" 0

At this point, everyone else turned to look at him, their eyes reflecting a hint of flattery. Perhaps they saw his potential value, or maybe they thought he was a promising talent worth nurturing, which sparked some controversy. In the past, he might have felt excitement and pride from such attention. However, now he had lost that fervent pursuit of fame and fortune. After seeing through the superficiality of the world, he suddenly found himself with a different perspective. 0

The two Old Guys, known for their harsh views, would never typically regard a newcomer in such a light. They certainly shouldn't display such expressions in front of others in power. They even began to argue, which only made everyone more curious about what made this young man so special that these two valued him so highly. 0

This guy is amazing; will you realize it when you see him? Aside from the Star Marshal, the others felt completely lost because they did not recognize this young man who had once been like a blank slate. They could never place such responsibility on someone so young; it was a risk. Yet those who knew him were aware that he had single-handedly completed a perilous mission and returned with his team unscathed. That was the best endorsement. 0

All those statistics were misleading; only those who understood his capabilities would be captivated by his charm and leadership qualities. Such individuals were exceedingly rare. If someone like him had been born four or five decades earlier, perhaps people like them would have been irrelevant, and the landscape might have changed dramatically. 0

In reality, even if he had been born earlier, it would still have been challenging. The hardest part is often the beginning; familiarizing oneself with the struggles of those times is crucial. The older generation of leaders had gradually pulled humanity back from the brink of extinction and could vividly recall the horrors of that era. Because of this, they could purposefully address everything and manage the people before them. 0

The time it took for humanity to recover may not have been long, but for some, those years were truly terrifying. The Zerg had invaded most cities and occupied the world while they retreated to these continents, which remained their only stronghold. 0

"Well, I called you here to introduce you to these people; remember them as you'll be dealing with them in the future. But I assume you've already met them. You can go back and rest now; tomorrow's mission might be exhausting, so don't overexert yourself," Hilbert said with a nod and a smile. 0

"Yes, sir," Freyr replied, fully aware of the current etiquette. He bowed slightly before turning to push open the door and leave. 0

"Hey! Why are you letting him go? I haven't finished talking to him yet! Bring him back!" came a voice from behind. However, this no longer concerned Freyr; he wasn't particularly interested in these people. Their goodwill was tied to his abilities—his skills and talents were invaluable assets for all of humanity. Therefore, everyone wanted to possess him and recruit him under their banner to become their so-called leader. 0
