"Let's go ahead and take on this mission." 0

The others settled down, sitting on a rock, and one by one received permission. Afterward, they communicated with the headquarters of the association and learned that specialized personnel would arrive at the site within two to three days to collect the Buck Bug corpses. What they were doing had garnered significant attention from higher-ups, including nearby Buck Bug nests, where the Larva corpses would also be taken back for research. 0

In truth, it wasn't about caring for the lives of these insects; bringing back the Buck Bug corpses was merely to study their physical characteristics. How could they secrete Mithril? Was it really just a matter of eating wood to produce feces containing Mithril? That seemed unlikely; there must be other habits involved that could help humanity understand this species' way of life. 0

Moreover, further away, humans had discovered another Buck Bug species that was much larger than this one. The environment there was reportedly better, untouched by human exploitation, filled with ancient trees that had stood for thousands of years. Thus, these insects thrived in a beautiful habitat where they wouldn't have to worry about food for nearly a century. 0

The only disadvantage affecting their living conditions was the temperature difference. During winter, they would migrate to warmer places, but no one had ever figured out exactly where those warmer spots were. As a result, their migration routes were difficult for Military Satellites to track. 0

Even so, humans could not predict where they would choose to winter next. However, curious humans employed various methods to create warm shelters. These were merely traps set up in places unworthy of Buck Bug habitation. It seemed that warmth alone was not enough to attract them; there must be some other intention behind it. Humanity simply couldn't understand what made the Buck Bug so special. Since they were chosen by God as Mithril's emissaries, there had to be something different about them compared to other insects. 0

Capturing Buck Bugs had always been a rare occurrence; there was never enough for scientists to study. Now, however, they had an entire nest of Buck Bug embryos, aging Buck Bugs, and mature Buck Bugs with significant combat capabilities. This research material resembled a comparative museum; Pathological Biologists would surely be thrilled with this discovery. 0

It appeared that although their actions were reckless this time, they had achieved something noteworthy. After receiving this news, their spirits gradually calmed down, and they were informed that they could leave the area now. 0

When dawn broke, they boarded their flying vehicle and set off for their next destination. The subsequent missions were completed with relative ease. Although there were still dangers involved, their teamwork had improved significantly. With the coordination provided by the flying vehicle and hover equipment, their methods for taking down prey expanded greatly. The Sniper Rifle could target weak points from a distance while missile-like weaponry could bombard larger prey. 0

Their carrying capacity rivaled that of an armory; if they acted impulsively, they might miss their expected timeline. Therefore, they didn't plan on conserving ammunition since allowing these insects to continue developing could lead to the formation of a formidable force. Even though this new force wouldn't pose a serious threat to the Human Alliance, it would still weaken its foundation. Allowing them to survive was simply not worth it; exterminating them was straightforward without any second thoughts. 0

After completing several missions, the team finally took a temporary break. It was a rare opportunity to rest and grab a bite before heading out again. 0

The target this time is a newly risen mysterious mountain in the Western Frontier. According to scans from the Military Satellite, it resembles a pyramid, with a striking contrast starting from its upper levels. Thus, this pyramid mission is also a Survey Mission. 0

Speaking of which, this mission has been encountered by others before. However, this rising mountain seems to grow like it’s rooted in the ground, automatically increasing in height each year. Currently, it stands at sixteen meters tall, gaining an additional two meters annually. 0

"This mission is called the Rhein Mission. This is our final task, and if everything goes smoothly, we can return triumphantly. Once we finish everything else, all that’s left is this last shudder," Freyr said, focused on driving the vehicle. 0

"Mackey suddenly asked, 'What does the pyramid have to do with Rhein? Why use such a name as the operation code? What’s the significance?' 0

"Well," Freyr replied, "Rhein was an ancient tyrant whose discoveries led to destruction at the end of time. No one knows its past because anything that remembered its existence has perished. According to excavated remnants of Maya texts, they once realized the coming of the apocalypse but could not prevent it. Do you know why? The simplest explanation is that the Maya believed they would die when the end came, and that their civilization and race would be obliterated. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the fabled Atlantis being submerged; I think that might be Rhein awakening because the Maya anticipated its existence and thus drowned their race at the brink of civilization. Perhaps the Maya's technological civilization had also reached a peak. Although the excavated child skeletons and some strange wooden carts appear to belong to a decayed civilization, many civilizations existed before Elder Maya I's era—a culinary age that understood how to harness energy from nature, with power comparable to nuclear weapons. Such an existence would pose a threat to Rhein." 0

"It’s as if divine punishment descended; the four civilizations that were obliterated all prove one point: they perished due to the fundamental elements of earth, wind, fire, and water—fire rains, earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes. We are currently in the fifth era. Compared to those four ancient civilizations, our developing technology is expanding into space. Soon humanity will be able to leave this planet; however, such advancements make us more susceptible to Rhein's targeting." 0

"Humanity fears this aspect enough to develop this mission into Rhein. But this pyramid should not be Rhein's true dwelling place; however, there are indeed some connections within that we need to prove. We must carry heavy weaponry with us; if any issues arise, our plan must leave no traces for others. I will directly connect to Ansebo's headquarters channel and initiate a strike—the punitive artifact of kinetic energy. Currently, this level of weaponry is humanity's strongest asset; there are only about eight units in existence worldwide." 0
