Four Iron-colored Skeletons stood still for a moment before moving forward like mummies.
These creatures were not particularly fast, but their reflexes were incredibly sharp. In addition, they possessed formidable Defense Power; even the skulls could not be pierced by the Aterkan Longsword. Their hardness was astonishing. Moreover, their movements were perfectly coordinated, as if they were a single entity advancing together.
This was a characteristic that the previous Skeleton Army lacked, which made this battle truly significant. The earlier skirmishes had merely been an appetizer. Was it really like this?
Freyr pondered this and suddenly realized that Xiong Tai must have endured the combined assault of these four entities. How had he ultimately triumphed over such monsters?
Freyr was eager to know, but in the current situation, many unknowns were unfolding. Meanwhile, Duan Shuai seemed to have forgotten his earlier frenzy and was now rampaging like a bull, wildly unleashing bullets from his Sniper Rifle.
Clearly, the four entities were not just targeting him; they had begun attacking his companions as well. They employed the simplest method of attack—charging forward with spear-like strikes. The combined force of four entities created a vast area of impact, making it nearly impossible to counteract the simultaneous thrusts of four spears.
"It's over!"
Freyr shouted as he turned around, but it was too late. The other two people beside him were not as quick as he was, and they needed a moment to process his warning. That brief moment was more than enough time for disaster to unfold.
As he saw the swift attack aimed at his classmate's heart, Freyr acted without hesitation. Like a flash of lightning, he surged forward, and in an instant, his movements accelerated further. He swung both Aterkan Longswords in front of him.
The sharp blades crossed in a fierce counterattack against the storm of strikes. The sound of clashing metal echoed in his ears, accompanied by sparks flying as the iron-like skeleton bodies finally showed signs of damage with white marks appearing on them.
The effect of those white marks was evident; it was akin to wooden spikes piercing flesh—painful but not significantly impactful in the grand scheme of death. The damage was minimal, almost negligible.
However, speed was on Freyr's side. The white marks crisscrossed over existing scars, gradually increasing the severity of the wounds. He felt confident that his attacks could eventually wear down one of the skeletons bit by bit.
The hardness of this monster was truly terrifying. The pain in his palm was almost unbearable, and it felt as if it might crack. However, he had once cut through steel, so under such circumstances, one of the skeletons reacted with a frenzy, deliberately avoiding him.
In that split second, Freyr charged forward and unleashed a shattering skill. This move, under normal circumstances, could crush the bones of a robust bull. After extensive training, his strength had improved significantly. Yet, this attack only caused the skeleton's muscles to slightly indent, bending one of its ribs downward.
The effect was indeed intense, but it merely stunned the skeleton in place. This not only required considerable physical exertion but also drained his stamina. Nevertheless, he pressed on, pursuing one of the skeletons to slice it in half.
He knew that this might not yield any significant results, but in contrast to his overwhelming attack power, the other skeletons seemed to share a telepathic connection and instinctively moved to protect their comrade.
At that moment, one skeleton moved directly into the path of his attack. He swung his sword down, causing its body to tremble slightly and shake violently.
Freyr was also affected by the shockwave, his body recoiling slightly. The impact was indeed substantial; the skeletons' defense was no joke. Just then, a rocket propelled itself past him with a fiery tail.
In an instant, a fierce blaze erupted, generating intense heat across the area. The skeletons clearly did not know how to evade it as more rockets continued to launch.
Duan Shuai's eyes were glowing; having him around certainly made things feel better. However, the man-portable missile emitted red-hot gas from its nozzle as if it were melting away.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!!"
The force grew increasingly powerful as the missile's barrel released waves of heat. Then with a loud explosion, it detonated on the spot, sending shrapnel flying into Duan Shuai's arm. Some sharper fragments embedded themselves into his armor.
Duan Shuai was visibly startled; although his armor held up well, he still sustained significant injuries. His arm was severely wounded, blood trickling down from above.
His face contorted in pain as he dropped the now-blooming missile launcher and used his bloodied arm to heft up the rocket launcher again. He continued firing off rounds; each shot required time to reload, which coincidentally allowed for cooling down. Thus, the rocket launcher had strong heat resistance and could sustain firing for longer periods.
"Boom!"
The muzzle exploded on the ground, blasting through the pit over there and forming a Firewall that was so hot it was almost blinding. At that moment, several fire-wielding skeletons slowly emerged from within the Firewall, struggling like Flame Skeletons in the flames. However, these Steel Segments were indeed burning completely.
A fierce blaze erupted, and even their own attempts to extinguish it seemed futile. As the intensity of the fire gradually subsided, signs of melting appeared on some of the Steel Segments. The heat was unbearable, and a Burnt Smell could be detected from several meters away.
The melted parts of the steel looked somewhat awkward, but after a while, it seemed that the flames on their faces began to calm down. Some white smoke started to billow out, and certain areas even expanded slightly due to the heat.
"This is our chance," Duan Shuai shouted.
"It looks even stronger now. How can you call this an opportunity? Are you hoping we die even faster?" Ross retorted angrily from the side.
"Hey, that's not it! Although it looks stronger, it's actually a weakling. When I teamed up with Xiong Tai, we discovered that heat is their weakness. By using thermal expansion to lower their steel density, their bodies have become more fragile than before. We should attack while they haven't cooled down yet."
