I was on the verge of breaking down, pulling the gun from my pocket and pointing it at the big man's head.
"Step aside, or I'll shoot you," I demanded.
He gripped my gun, pressing his head against the barrel, glaring at me with hostility. "Go ahead, pull the trigger."
For the past month on the island, he had been taking care of me. How could I bring myself to do it?
My hand trembled around the gun. "Let me go, and when I come back, you can do whatever you want."
He looked into my eyes, which were red and filled with tears, his entire body shaking with intensity.
"Yan Xi, listen to me, don't go. It's too dangerous."
"Big man, just let me go. I can't watch my parents suffer like this."
As we stood there in a standoff, I was suddenly pulled into a strong embrace—one that gave me a sense of safety.
"You can go if you want, but have you thought about the child inside you?"
He was right. With my current abilities, I didn't know if I could bring my parents back safely, and I couldn't risk the life of the child within me.
I had protected him for so long; how could I possibly take him along to face death?
The Island Master was truly formidable; each time he struck at my heart.
With one sentence, he shattered all my defenses, and the gun slipped from my hand to the ground.
He laid me down on the bed. My mind was still active, but it no longer controlled my body as I surrendered to his embrace.
Island Master laid me down on the bed, and I nestled into his embrace.
The coldness of his hold reminded me of Mu Xuanche. His body was just as icy, and each of his demands brought me immense pleasure.
I turned over, wrapping my arms around Island Master's neck, leaning in to kiss him fiercely.
He was momentarily taken aback, but then he responded with a dominating force.
His soft tongue pried open my lips, merging with mine as he compelled me to dance with him.
How strong, how domineering he was, nearly pulling me under into a state of bliss from which I could not escape.
But no, this wasn’t right.
This wasn’t how it should be.
I pushed him away abruptly, staring at him in shock.
He reached up to wipe away a glimmer from the corner of his mouth, his dark eyes looking at me with a wicked charm, the Cold Light within them unmistakable.
“How does it taste?” he asked me.
He was mocking me; he knew I was testing him.
The familiar aura was there, yet the face was different. Coupled with his actions that ruined my back, I couldn’t help but doubt—was he really Mu Xuanche?
When a person is caught off guard, their actions easily reveal their inner thoughts.
However, just a moment ago when I lunged forward to ask him, he was momentarily stunned, but his subsequent actions were completely different.
Mu Xuanche's kiss was not like this; although Mu Xuanche's kisses were domineering and forceful, they always carried a hint of tenderness and consideration for my feelings. Unlike this man, who left no room for me and completely overpowered me.
This time, I was utterly disheartened. He was truly not Mu Xuanche.
He was simply himself, the Qilin Island Master.
"Gu Yanxi, I've suddenly found myself a bit interested in you," he said.
His brow arched slightly, and his handsome face wore a charming yet somewhat cynical smile.
I struggled to get off the bed. "Sorry, I'm not interested in the Island Master."
"What a heartless woman—used and then discarded," he retorted from behind me, igniting my anger. I turned around. "When have I ever used you?"
To my surprise, the Island Master was so devilish that he actually took off his clothes and beckoned me with a smirk. "How about you come and use me now?"
I was so startled that I bolted for the door, moving as if someone were chasing me.
I dashed straight to the top floor of the club, only to find that someone had already occupied the space above.
"What are you doing here?"
"You can come, so why can't I?"
It was the big man, alone on the rooftop, smoking a cigarette.
The night was quiet, and both sides remained silent.
I broke the silence, "Big Man, I've caused your master such serious injury today. Will you blame me?"
He smiled lightly, with no hint of annoyance in his eyes.
"Gu Yanxi, are you sick? Saving you was the master's own choice. Why should I blame you? Those challenges were set by the master himself; he wasn't forced into anything. That's just him reaping what he sowed."
Hearing the big man speak so candidly about the Island Master, whom he usually idolized, felt like finding a kindred spirit—it was simply amazing.
"Big Man, we will truly be good friends. The Island Master is a pervert; I think so too."
He looked at me, his gaze somewhat profound, and sighed heavily.
"Honestly, I don't know what the master is thinking. I can't understand his actions at all; to me, it just seems like he's bringing this upon himself."
Hearing the big man criticize the Island Master made me happier than if I had insulted him myself.
Much later, I would realize how meaningful the big man's words were that night—though at that moment, I couldn't grasp their significance.
"Big Man, I want to go to the Cult of Spirits."
Facing a man who felt like an older brother to me, I expressed my truest thoughts.
He frowned, his expression somewhat displeased.
"Yan Xi, I know you're anxious, but you must realize that right now, the Spirit Sect only leads to death for you. You have only two options: either go back and ask your husband for help, or seek assistance from the Island Master."
Asking Mu Xuanche for help would be slower than just killing Jin Ping.
I looked at the big man, confusion filling my eyes. "Will the Island Master help me?"
"Yan Xi, if the Island Master didn't want to get involved, you wouldn't be seeing these photos today."
After he finished speaking, he left me alone on the stage, urging me to think carefully.
I forced myself to calm down. The Spirit Sect Leader and Jin Ping had colluded to abduct my parents; what was their purpose?
Wasn't Liu Qingfeng supposed to protect my parents? With his abilities, they shouldn't have been so easily captured. What had gone wrong?
Those photos showed no sign of Liu Qingfeng; apart from my parents, there were mostly members of the Cult of Spirits.
And why was Jin Ping able to collude with the Cult of Spirits? Could it have anything to do with my grandfather's tomb raiding incident years ago?
I couldn't make sense of it all; it was utterly confusing.
In a daze, when I reached the door of the Island Master's room, I realized I had unconsciously walked down here.
My heart raced with anxiety as I hesitated several times before finally gathering the courage to knock on the door. Just as my fingers touched the surface of the door, it swung open.
It was the Island Master, standing at the door he had just opened. Leaning against the frame, he held a cigarette in his mouth, his upper body bare.
As the smoke curled around him, he squinted and stared at me intently. I swallowed hard, and after I spoke, I wanted to slap myself. "Island Master, even ghosts can smoke?"
In an instant, I noticed a hint of embarrassment flicker across the Island Master's face before it vanished completely.
Fine, I admit I'm the king of ruining the mood, but I couldn't help feeling a bit nervous.
He removed the cigarette from his hand and extinguished it with his fingers. The lazy atmosphere that I had just disrupted seemed to resurrect at that moment.
"Well," he said, and as he spoke, a wave of smoke wafted toward me.
The faint scent of tobacco mingled with a hint of mint made me, who usually despised cigarette smoke, curious about what that cigarette actually tasted like for the first time.
"Island Master, I want to exchange a secret with you. The condition is that you teach me and help me get revenge."
He looked at me with a teasing expression, the corners of his mouth lifting to reveal a glimpse of his white teeth, looking incredibly handsome.
"Oh, your secret? Are you sure I want to know?"
"Do you have the courage to make one last attempt? 'Island Master, do you want to know the location of Qin Wang's Tomb?'"
He laughed, "Haha, Gu Yanxi, you know about Ying Ziying's tomb. Do you know what is hidden inside? You just know."
"I don't know, and I don't want to know. I just want to save my parents."
My face was extremely serious, and that familiar aura of Mu Xuanche returned.
After learning for so long without mastering it, I didn't expect it to flow out so naturally now.
With my attitude set, his smile faded, replaced by his usual cold expression. "Your secret."
"Island Master, first tell me if you agree."
"As long as what you have is useful to me, I wouldn't mind helping you once."
His response filled me with joy. I was taking a gamble; everyone was very interested in Qin Wang's Tomb. I believed the Island Master knew about it too; he just didn't know why he hadn't tried to seize it. So I planned to take a chance and exchange the secret of Qin Wang's Tomb with him.
