"How are you all?" Su Ruolan shook off the dirt from her head and slowly got up, looking at the others around her. 0

"We're fine, Sister Ruo Lan, Sister Su, Company Commander," Kong Xiang, Cheng Xi, and Li Yuxuan replied in unison. 0

"I didn't provoke it, yet it came and destroyed my vehicle. Whoever it is will have to pay the price. We need to take down that plane and use it for compensation," Su Ruolan said angrily, the consequences severe. 0

"Yes, let's teach them a lesson. It's outrageous; don't they fear hurting innocents?" Cheng Xi exclaimed furiously. 0

"Exactly, Company Commander. Their fighting is too overbearing. We're not pushovers; we can't let this slide," Li Yuxuan added, stepping forward with righteous indignation. 0

"I'm with you, Sister Ruo Lan. Whatever you decide, we'll follow," Kong Xiang clenched his fists in agreement. 0

"Alright." Su Ruolan waved them over, and they huddled together, whispering their plans. 0

They hid according to their strategy, quietly waiting for the right moment. Soon, a plane flew low. As it approached a large tree, Su Ruolan shouted, "Action!" Everyone sprang into action. Cheng Xi activated his Ability, continuously pulling the plane downwards. The aircraft shook under the influence and began to descend lower and lower. After a twenty-minute tug-of-war, it was nearly at the height of the treetops. 0

Su Ruolan reached out her hand, and dozens of Wood Vines shot up from the tree's top, wrapping around the wings several times and firmly binding the fuselage. Li Yuxuan wielded a heavy machine gun and unleashed a barrage at the propeller. The plane pushed its engines to maximum power and finally broke free from the Wood Vines' grasp, soaring into the sky. However, just as it ascended, the propeller spun a few times before disintegrating. The aircraft glided for a moment before crashing to the ground with a loud bang and exploding in a burst of flames. 0

At that moment, two other planes were also shot down by another party. A portion of a tank was destroyed in the ground collapse while another part quickly retreated upon sensing danger. 0

"Oh, we won!" A thunderous cheer erupted from afar. A group of people slowly emerged, dressed in matching blue uniforms—simple yet clean. In the center stood a tall and imposing middle-aged man, about 19 meters tall with a robust build, straight nose bridge, double eyelids, large eyes, thin lips, and slicked-back hair that gave him an air of confidence as he strode forward. 0

He approached where Su Ruolan stood and laughed heartily, "Which friend helped Qin? May I have the pleasure of meeting you? Thank you!" 0

His voice was infectious and resonant; hearing it made one feel goodwill. Su Ruolan and her companions stepped out from behind the tree to meet him. "Hello, I didn't help you. It provoked me; I was just avenging myself." 0

"Greetings to you! Although it was unintentional on your part, we are still grateful," the middle-aged man chuckled warmly. 0

"No thanks necessary." Glancing at the nearly thousand people who had emerged, Su Ruolan felt admiration stir within her. In this apocalyptic world, such a large force was quite formidable; many among them seemed to be at least second-tier high-level Ability users. Especially this leader—his Ability was unfathomable. She felt that this middle-aged man looked somewhat familiar but was certain she had never seen him before; it left her puzzled. 0

"Where are you headed? If you're going the same way, you can walk with us," the middle-aged man said kindly. 0

"We plan to go north," Su Ruolan found it hard to refuse the man's goodwill; there was something about him that made people feel at ease. 0

"North? There was an earthquake a few days ago, and the road to the north is completely blocked. You'll have to take a detour," the man replied helplessly. "We were planning to go north as well." 0

"What?" Su Ruolan felt disheartened. It seemed that their journey had been cut short just like that. She couldn't believe it; a voice in her head was shaking its head vigorously. 0

"How about this: if you don't believe me, you can go take a look. We'll rest here for half an hour before setting off," the middle-aged man continued to smile. 0

"Alright, then we'll part ways here," Su Ruolan waved goodbye to him. 0

Su Ruolan and her group continued walking north. Although they had just experienced a fierce battle, and the road was bumpy and muddy, it was still passable on foot. 0

"Sister Su, do you think that uncle was trying to trick us into going with him?" Cheng Xi asked doubtfully. 0

"I don't think so. They have over a thousand people; would they really care about just a few of us?" Li Yuxuan countered. 0

"What do you think, Kong Xiang?" Su Ruolan asked. 0

"I sense that this person has great fortune," Kong Xiang replied thoughtfully. As his ability strengthened, he couldn't always use his prophetic ability, but he could instinctively feel a person's goodness or evilness, and his sensitivity to situations had been increasing. That's why Su Ruolan often sought his opinion. 0

The four of them chatted as they walked, and time passed quickly. After covering nearly fifty kilometers, Kong Xiang was about to take another step when Su Ruolan suddenly grabbed him. Before them lay exactly what the middle-aged man had described: the road ahead was completely cut off due to landslides from the earthquake, and one more step would lead them into an abyss. A high peak loomed across from them; it felt as if they were standing on one mountaintop gazing at another. In this broken world, even the tectonic movements were uniquely different. 0

With a helpless sigh, Su Ruolan realized they could only turn back the way they came. 0

Before reaching the battlefield, a group of nearly a thousand middle-aged men was quietly eating their food. When they saw Su Ruolan and the others returning, they all smiled kindly. 0

Su Ruolan felt a bit shy and was just about to invite everyone to sit down and have something to eat. 0

"Miss, you must be hungry. We have some flatbreads here; let me give you some," a middle-aged man's cheerful voice rang out as he approached with several hard breads. 0

Su Ruolan paused, her hand that was about to pull out bread and milk from her bag stopping mid-air. Looking at the man's sincere face, she found it hard to refuse. She accepted the food and smiled gratefully, "Thank you, Uncle." The others had expected to enjoy some delicious food, but upon seeing Su Ruolan hand over the hard breads, they couldn't help but silently blame the man for being meddlesome. However, they also understood he meant well, and they looked at him with mixed feelings. 0

Seeing the young people looking at him with expressions that were both touched and awkward, the middle-aged man felt a warmth in his heart and said, "No need to thank me; just eat up." 0

Kong Xiang, Cheng Xi, and Li Yuxuan collectively rolled their eyes in their minds, thinking, Uncle, where do you see our gratitude? 0

"Since you call me Uncle, I’ll take care of you as much as I can. After all, you young people are the hope of humanity. What’s your name, Miss?" The middle-aged man asked kindly as he watched Su Ruolan struggle to chew on the hard bread. 0

"Su Ruolan. And you?" Su Ruolan replied, feeling like the bread was almost stuck in her throat. She took out a bottle of water from her bag—actually water stored in a mineral water bottle from her space—and drank it down to ease her throat, which felt like it had been scratched. 0

"You can call me Uncle Qin," the middle-aged man said with a smile. "Once you're done eating, let's head out together; it’ll be safer on the road." 0

"Okay." Feeling that Uncle Qin genuinely cared about their safety, Su Ruolan nodded in agreement. 0
