The Cloud Poison was particularly strange. When they descended the cliff, there had been no signs of danger, but suddenly it emerged, surrounding them as if they had entered another dimension.
"Ruo Lan, your intuition is correct. I can feel the call of that same source of power again. It's similar to what that old man gave you," Reset suddenly communicated in their mind. "But it's odd; the energy from the Bat King’s meteorite seemed purer. This place feels tainted."
"Should we go take a look? Regardless, this power could guarantee your upgrade," Su Ruolan said, eager to help Reset advance, ignoring any sense of unease.
"Ruo Lan, move a bit closer to me and keep your heart steady. The visibility here is terrible. Luckily, I've been down here before, so there shouldn't be any major obstacles," Qin Zhi Han said as he carefully tested his footing to the lower right, making sure Su Ruolan followed his lead.
"Ruo Lan, follow him. That power is located in his lower right," Reset urged Su Ruolan, confirming that following him was the right choice.
"Okay," Su Ruolan replied, cautiously making her way to the lower right.
The Cloud Poison was thick; anyone walking through it would undoubtedly succumb to its toxicity. However, Qin Zhi Han and Su Ruolan had consumed Spatial Water before descending, which fortuitously neutralized the poison, leaving them only slightly dizzy.
Qin Zhi Han thought to himself that this was bad and called out loudly, "Everyone cover your mouths and noses! This miasma is toxic!"
Silence surrounded them; no one responded.
Qin Zhi Han couldn't see anyone else. Besides holding Su Ruolan's hand, he felt no other breaths or movements nearby. Had everyone else fallen victim? But there were no cries of alarm! He felt a rising anxiety but knew he couldn’t let it show.
Despite their slow descent, based on the time it took them to come down earlier, they should not be far from the bottom of the cliff. Even moving at this pace, they should have arrived by now.
Both of them sensed something was off, feeling as if they were stuck in place or caught in a loop. They were trapped.
They couldn't help but stop in their tracks. Suddenly, the stone given by the White-Bearded Elder in Su Ruolan's pocket began to heat up and glow, rising from her pocket and flying forward. The two of them were overjoyed and followed the stone as it moved ahead. Suddenly, a bright light appeared before them, and Qin Zhi Han and Su Ruolan were astonished to see a path made of floating stones leading straight across. On the other side were the same large stones that the White-Bearded Elder had given to Su Ruolan, about ten in total.
"That's it! Ruo Lan, we are so lucky," Reset exclaimed, thrilled at the surprise of finding energy stones.
Su Ruolan prepared to step onto the floating path.
"Wait, let's see what we're dealing with first," Qin Zhi Han said, extending his hand to block Su Ruolan.
"There’s only one way forward now. What’s on the other side is very important to me; I need to go over there," Su Ruolan replied firmly.
"This is really strange. There’s a path floating in mid-air in the mountains. But we have no choice but to take a chance. Since it’s important to you, I’ll go first," Qin Zhi Han said to Su Ruolan. "Maybe there’s an exit on the other side."
"Alright," Su Ruolan nodded. "Let’s go together."
Qin Zhi Han cautiously stepped onto the first stone, but suddenly, as he applied weight, the stone shifted unexpectedly. He wobbled slightly and nearly fell but quickly steadied himself.
With that movement, the previously evenly spaced stones before them lost their balance due to external force, colliding with each other and creating larger gaps between them. The first stone had moved far away from Su Ruolan, now several meters apart.
