"Let's hurry before the Zombies gather!" Wang Chao patted Ouyang En on the shoulder and said. 0

The three quickly climbed to the rooftop and ran toward the area with fewer Zombies! 0

... 0

"We can't hold them off any longer!" shouted Liu Fushun, a middle-aged man, as he stood at the bedroom door. 0

"No, we have to hold on a little longer!" a boy named Wang Ning yelled. "We need to wait for Sister Mengying and the others to get out first. Grandma Wang and the others are slow; they haven't gone down yet!" 0

"We can't hold them off!" Liu Fushun insisted. 0

"Quick, retreat!" Wang Ning shouted. 0

It turned out that in the refugee house, a high school boy had already been bitten by a Zombie. The wound wasn't deep, and when Wang Chao and Liu He rescued him, they didn't notice it. Out of fear, the boy didn't tell anyone about being bitten; instead, he sat alone in the corner of the bedroom, staring blankly at the backs of the remaining boys. 0

He felt increasingly dizzy, his eyelids growing heavier as if he had a cold or fever. He fought to stay awake, but in his hazy state, he felt incredibly hungry. Looking at the backs of those boys, he thought they looked like the most delicious food in the world. He told himself it wasn't true, that it wasn't appetizing, but he couldn't deceive himself. 0

"Eat, eat, eat!" was all that remained in his mind. 0

Then he let out a furious roar and lunged forward. 0

The boys had their backs to him and didn't notice at first. By the time they realized what was happening, it was too late; they were already bitten. They screamed as they tried to pull away from him. In the cramped bedroom, chaos ensued as they quickly turned into Zombies one after another. Liu Fushun and Wang Ning reacted first, slamming the bedroom door shut. The women in the living room immediately fell into disarray. 0

The Zombies were surprisingly strong; the wooden door seemed on the verge of being broken down! Old Lady Wang assessed the situation and immediately directed everyone to evacuate downstairs. 0

When Wang Chao and his companions returned, they saw Old Lady Wang coming down from upstairs. "What happened?" Wang Chao asked. Yang Mengying replied, "Someone in the room has turned into a Zombie! Their strength is incredible; we can't stay in there!" Upon hearing this, Wang Chao thought to himself that his suspicions were indeed correct—the Zombies not only had increased speed! Without hesitation, Wang Chao shouted, "Don't go down; it's even more dangerous below!" 0

But the women, thrown into chaos, had already gone mad after witnessing the gruesome sight of flesh being torn apart. Hearing the roar of the Zombies behind them, they turned and fled, creating a scene of utter pandemonium. The women, mixed with elderly men and women, rushed down the stairs in a frenzy. 0

Wang Chao cursed under his breath and followed the tide of people. 0

When Wang Chao and his companions returned, they had painstakingly navigated through wave after wave of Zombies. However, the screams of the fleeing women attracted a horde of nearby Zombies, who immediately surged toward them. Seeing this, everyone sprinted towards the entrance of the community. Leading the group was Old Lady Wang and her companions, whose frail legs could not keep pace with the Zombies. With everyone pulling and dragging them along, they managed to move a bit faster. 0

But as time passed, the weaknesses of the elderly became apparent. Even Liu Fushun and Wang Ning, who were behind them, found themselves at the front. Liu He shouted, "Forget about those old folks! If we don't run, we'll all die here!" With that, he let go of an old man who immediately fell to the ground. Before he could get back up, he was surrounded by the approaching Zombies! Wang Chao yelled, "Liu He, what are you doing?" 0

"I don't want to die here! The exit is just ahead! Anyone who doesn't want to die, follow me!" Liu He shouted. 0

As soon as Liu He finished speaking, the last two men immediately let go and sprinted forward. The women disregarded everything and ran ahead. Without a leader, the group quickly fell apart. Liu He took charge as Liu Fushun and Wang Ning led the way, followed by a cacophony of screaming women. Bringing up the rear were Wang Chao, holding Yiyi in one arm and Grandma Wang in the other, along with Yang Mengying and Ouyang En helping another elderly person. 0

In an instant, Wang Chao and his group fell far behind! 0

Suddenly, Wang Chao felt a surge of strength in his hand. Looking down, he saw Grandma Wang pushing against him. "You coward! I'm Wang Juhua! In my lifetime, I've been up mountains and down to the countryside as a young intellectual. I don't even know how many times I've held a gun! Today, am I going to let these little bastards chase me? Let go of me!" 0

Wang Chao didn’t understand what Grandma Wang was rambling about but didn’t dare loosen his grip. "Run!" 0

"Let go!" Grandma Wang, usually so gentle, shouted fiercely. 0

Instinctively, Wang Chao released his hold. Grandma Wang exclaimed loudly, "I've lived nearly eighty years! I'm not blind or deaf! Except for my legs being a bit unsteady, I'm still young at heart! When have I ever needed anyone to take care of me? I've seen it all! Back in my day, I even wrote letters to Chairman Mao! What haven't I done? Just never faced these things!" 0

Her voice was so loud that even Liu He and the others running ahead heard her. 0

"I've never caused trouble for anyone or held anyone back! Now that I'm old, I can't let my entire life’s wisdom be ruined in an instant! Zombies, I’m coming for you!" With that declaration, she raised her cane and charged toward the horde of Zombies. Wang Chao instinctively pulled back as Grandma Wang swung her cane at him with great force. "Get out of my way!" she shouted. 0

Wang Chao was momentarily stunned when he saw Grandma Wang trembling as she rushed forward, only to be engulfed by the Zombie in an instant. 0

"I, Wang Juhua, have lived my life worthily!" Wang Chao heard her say. 0

"Run!" Wang Chao turned around, but found that the elderly men and women remained unmoved despite Ouyang En and Yang Mengying's desperate attempts to pull them away. An old man spoke up, "This Wang Juhua, back in the square, was always aggressive over a spot. Now, she’s rushing to her death ahead of me. I’ve seen through her all along; no wonder so many old men like her. Fine, Wang Juhua, I’ll accompany you!" 0

"I, Old Wei, count as one too!" 0

"Me!" an elderly woman stammered, raising her hand shakily. 0

"We can't drag the young ones down!" another old man stepped forward. 0

Everyone fell silent as the elderly gathered together, waving their canes. One even grabbed their dentures as a makeshift weapon. 0

"Run! Run!" The leading old man exerted all his strength to push Yang Mengying forward. The Zombie loomed right in front of them, and tears streamed uncontrollably down Wang Chao's face. The elderly had all chosen to fight the Zombies rather than burden the younger ones. They knew it was a death sentence, but they felt it was worth it if they could buy even a minute for the children behind them. 0

Yiyi was already sobbing uncontrollably, and Wang Chao cried as he pulled Yang Mengying to run, with Ouyang En closely following. 0

Behind them, the Zombie horde had already swallowed those elderly individuals. 0

Yet the words "I, Wang Juhua" seemed to linger in the air, refusing to dissipate for a long time. 0
