Despite how fast Wang Chao could move, when he reached out again, he could no longer grasp the woman's hand. She was about to fall into the lobby on the first floor, where several Zombie Dogs and a Three-Headed Dog awaited below.
If she fell, there would be no chance of survival. Just then, Wang Chao suddenly saw half of a whip shooting up towards him. Earlier, when he had been testing his strength against the woman, the whip had split in two, and now it was that very half that was coming back to him!
The whip moved quickly, but Wang Chao managed to catch it with one hand. The impact from the fall was immense; even as he gripped it, his momentum continued downward. The whip slipped through his fingers, but just as it was about to escape completely, Wang Chao let out a roar and tightened his grip.
The tiny barbs on the whip pierced into his palm. Previously, when he had been pulling against the woman, the whip had held firm like a chain. Now, he realized its true power; had he been weaker than her, he would have met the same fate.
Wang Chao felt as if his hand had been stung by thousands of bees; the pain nearly made it impossible for him to hold onto the whip. Then he felt a tremendous force pulling upward. Looking down, he saw the woman climbing up along the whip.
The entire event unfolded in just a few minutes, yet it felt to Wang Chao as if years had passed.
Finally, the woman reached him. Wang Chao immediately dropped the whip and raised his hand to inspect it; the softest part of his palm had torn open slightly. Without hesitation, he ripped off a sleeve from his shirt and bit down on it to bandage his wound.
The woman was much more agile than Chen Feifei; she climbed up beside Wang Chao and extended her hand to help him wrap up his injury.
"It's time to lose some weight!" Wang Chao remarked.
"No need to change the subject; saving Queen is what pets should do," she replied.
Wang Chao glared at her and said, "What the hell?"
The building had three floors, with a high ceiling. At that moment, the cage was just one meter below the roof—at its limit. The dogs couldn’t come up nor could they go down. Fortunately, Wang Chao and the woman worked together to lift Chen Feifei up to the top of the cage before they both climbed on as well.
Wang Chao suddenly recalled a moment from his childhood, sitting on the roof of the orphanage, gazing at the stars. How he longed for that time now! Back then, he was looking at the stars, but now he was staring at the dozen or so Zombie Dogs below. It was truly ironic; those in the cage wanted to get out, while the dogs beneath wanted to come up.
He didn't know how much time had passed as he idly watched the Zombie Dogs below. After numerous attempts, they finally seemed to give up their desire to ascend, simply lying in the hall and gazing up.
"Hey," Wang Chao said for what felt like the hundredth time to the woman beside him. "People say girls shouldn't ask three things: age, weight, and height. I've never heard that you can't even ask for a name!"
The woman patiently replied again, "I already told you, just call me Sister."
Wang Chao fell silent once more. After a long pause, he continued, "Sister, I say this isn't a solution. It looks like those Zombie Dogs are sticking to us. Their chances of leaving are lower than my chances of becoming President of the United States! This is your home; don't you have any other options?"
"If I had options, would I be here bantering with you?" she said. "Did you see those two corpses down there? They won't even eat them. Do you know what that means? It means they didn't come here for food. And that Three-Headed Zombie Dog? Clearly, it's their leader!"
The woman continued, "Seeing how lecherous you look, I even suspect you might have flirted with that Three-Headed Beast's wife!"
Upon hearing this, Wang Chao's expression changed. He began to wonder if the Three-Headed Dog he had killed was indeed the mate of the one below. That didn't make sense; Zombies were supposed to be mindless. Yet these Zombie Dogs clearly exhibited premeditation and planning. If that were true, Wang Chao couldn't bear to think further.
He couldn't imagine a day when a Zombie would lead millions of others to attack the Survivor's Base Camp; that would truly be humanity's end!
Seeing Wang Chao's expression shift, the woman asked, "Are you really that desperate?"
Wang Chao retorted, "I’m desperate for you!"
Upon hearing this, her expression suddenly turned sultry as she said, "Oh really? Call out 'Queen' a couple of times and I'll let you touch me."
"Wang Chao said, 'Get lost! I'm talking about serious matters. On my way here, I actually killed a Three-Headed Dog. Could it be that the one I killed was really its wife? Damn it! As the saying goes, killing one's father and stealing one's wife is a grudge that cannot be forgiven. It seems this dog won't leave me alone until I'm dead!'"
"'Then why not just throw you down?' the woman laughed."
"Wang Chao naturally picked up on the teasing tone in her voice, but he replied, 'Damn, what a decline in morals! Who was it that saved you just now? Can you please shout it out loud?'"
'Don't worry, sister would never throw you down!' the woman said."
"Wang Chao thought to himself, this girl really knows how to chat. The back-and-forth banter was quite stimulating!"
"'Let’s talk about what to do next,' Chen Feifei finally interjected, unable to stand the two of them joking around like that."
"'What can we do?' the woman rolled her eyes at Chen Feifei and said, 'Are you planning to jump down and fight the vicious dog? If that's the case, I'll support you mentally!'"
"Chen Feifei detected the woman's sarcasm and retorted, 'That's better than you sitting up there dressed like that and selling yourself!' The expression on her face showed no trace of the fear she had earlier, leaving Wang Chao dumbfounded. They say three women make a play; it seemed that even in this dangerous situation, these two were putting on a show for him!"
"Wang Chao quickly interrupted, 'Ahem, let me say something.'"
"The woman and Chen Feifei exchanged glances, then looked at Wang Chao. With a cold snort, they fell silent."
"Wang Chao continued, 'How about we lower the cage and run out from the third floor?'"
