The van was naturally not as fast as Wang Chao's Military Jeep. He kept the speed down, but after less than five minutes of driving, the van spotted Wang Chao's Military Jeep. There were quite a few cars in this area, but very few people drove here, and even fewer were passing by. When Wang Chao saw the van ahead come to a stop, he also halted his Military Jeep and said to Yiyi inside, "Old rules, wait for me up top." Yiyi nodded obediently.
Three or four people had already gotten out of the van. Wang Chao looked over and recognized them as the ones who had beaten Zhao Dong earlier. However, he did not see Li Xiuli get out, and he was unsure if she was still in the vehicle. At that moment, Li Yunqi also exited the van. Wang Chao walked up to the group, and one of them recognized him, saying, "Brother, I see you're also from the military. Let's keep our distance; this matter doesn't concern you. Just give Li Shao some face and stay out of it."
Wang Chao ignored the man and directly addressed Li Yunqi. "I feel ashamed to say this, but I know a bit about the situation between you three. What I don't understand is why Zhao Dong took so many punches for you while you seem to be heading to Li Xiuli now. As Zhao Dong's friend, I can't just stand by."
"Wang Chao!" Li Yunqi exclaimed. "Stay out of this; it's our business. You're just an outsider who has been here a few days; you don't need to worry about us!"
Wang Chao smiled, twisted his neck, and replied, "Is that so? If you hadn't come up to deliver food on the first day, I might have understood your words completely and wouldn't have interfered. But when I accepted that bowl of rice, some responsibilities naturally fell onto my shoulders. Some burdens can't just be tossed aside. By the way, after you meet with Li Xiuli, will you still have the face to come back?"
Seeing Wang Chao's demeanor, the others realized he was determined to get involved. The four of them began walking toward him; a confrontation was inevitable.
"Wang Chao!" Li Yunqi shouted loudly. Fortunately, there weren't many people around; otherwise, it would have drawn attention. "I'm begging you not to get involved! Can't you see Zhao Dong is covered in injuries? They say it's from falling; do you think I'm an idiot? Li Xiuli just wants to sleep with me; letting him do it once is enough."
Li Yunqi grew more agitated as he shouted: "I don't want to see him hiding his injuries at night or living in fear every day!"
"Please just leave me out of this!" In his final plea, Li Yunqi truly shouted with all his strength.
Hearing Li Yunqi's words made Wang Chao realize that he hadn't betrayed Zhao Dong but was willing to give himself to Li Xiuli to protect Zhao from further beatings. At that moment, Wang Chao found himself at a loss for words; sometimes betrayal stemmed from love. Seeing Li Yunqi in such despair only strengthened Wang Chao's resolve to intervene.
Wang Chao didn't want Li Yunqi to regret his decision; besides, once someone boarded a pirate ship, getting off wasn't an easy task.
"I am Zhao Dong's friend and also yours, so there are some matters I must take care of," Wang Chao gently shook his head at Li Yunqi.
"I must say, you are quite something. The person involved is asking you to back off, yet you stubbornly insist on getting involved. But let me make this clear: even though you're in the military, you should know the consequences of pulling the trigger. It could lead to a dead end for you. If you want to take on four of us without a gun, we're ready anytime!" said the previous speaker.
"You won't need a gun to deal with you," Wang Chao replied with a smile.
The four men stopped talking and charged forward. Wang Chao quickly assessed the situation; these four were clearly seasoned fighters. Two attacked head-on while the other two flanked him from the side. As the saying goes, two fists can't fight against four hands. Wang Chao understood that the secret to taking on multiple opponents was speed—he needed to knock down enough of them quickly to prevent them from forming an overwhelming advantage.
Drawing from his experience, Wang Chao stepped forward swiftly and landed a punch in one man's stomach. Unsure of his opponent's strength, he threw this punch as a test. The man winced in pain, curling up like a boiled shrimp and collapsing to the ground. Seizing the opportunity, Wang Chao crouched low and swept his leg, knocking down the man who had circled behind him while also dodging a punch from the man in front.
Wang Chao stood up and delivered another punch, knocking out the front man's two front teeth, then followed up with a kick to another opponent.
In almost an instant, Wang Chao had taken down all four men.
He grabbed Toothless Brother and shoved him into the Military Jeep, saying, "Drive to Li Xiuli's house, or I'll make sure you lose your remaining teeth!"
Toothless Brother had only been a small-time thug before and had never encountered someone so formidable. He gritted his teeth against the pain, mumbling incoherently. Wang Chao landed another punch, prompting Toothless Brother to wail and start driving. Li Yunqi sat in the backseat of the Military Jeep, seemingly shocked by Wang Chao's fighting skills; whether it was fear or something else, her hand holding Yiyi's trembled slightly.
The ride was silent until they arrived at Li Xiuli's house. Wang Chao looked around; the Vice Mayor's son certainly lived differently—the exterior decor was far more luxurious than that of an average person.
"He should be on the second floor; that's where we agreed to meet," Toothless Brother said, his speech slurred due to his missing teeth, making it sound particularly amusing. Wang Chao stifled a laugh and warned him, "Wait here. If I see you running when I come back down, just know I'll catch you someday—watch your teeth!"
"How could I dare run away, brother?" Toothless Brother replied.
Wang Chao nodded and ripped off Toothless Brother's sleeve to cover his face before charging up to the second floor. He kicked open the door and rushed into the bedroom, only to find Li Xiuli lying naked on the bed as if she were waiting for something pleasurable. "Damn it!" Wang Chao cursed under his breath as he grabbed Li Xiuli and clamped one hand around her neck.
Li Xiuli suddenly felt breathless, grasping at the air around him. Then he heard a voice that sounded like it came from the Grim Reaper: "Let me tell you, if you disturb Li Yunqi one more time, watch out for your life!"
Li Xiuli was speechless, his eyes filled with terror as he hurriedly nodded.
Wang Chao, however, did not let go until he saw Li Xiuli's pupils dilate. Only then did Wang Chao quickly release his grip and kick Li Xiuli to the ground. Li Xiuli lay motionless on the ground, seemingly unconscious. Wang Chao was quite pleased with his actions and rushed down from the second floor, only to find that Toothless Brother had already vanished without a trace.
"Uncle, as soon as you went upstairs, he ran away!" Yiyi said.
Wang Chao nodded and quickly got into the car. He figured that Toothless Brother wouldn't just wait around for him; he must have called for help. This was no place to linger. In a flash, the Military Jeep disappeared from the area.
